Not many owners know where to place a gazebo on their property. A gazebo is a popular place for all family members to relax.

A lot of time is spent in the pavilion, so it must satisfy the tastes of all household members, which requires choosing the optimal place to place it on the site so that it is comfortable for everyone. This article will tell you where to place the gazebo correctly on the site.

Before building a gazebo on a site, its plan is drawn up, a suitable location for building the structure is specified, its purpose is determined and a style is selected.

There are several options for the functionality of garden rooms:

  • For lunch and receiving guests, is located near the house.
  • For a quiet holiday- installed in hidden place garden, where the most best view picturesque corners.
  • For cooking, used as a summer kitchen or as a barbecue (see).

The gazebo itself should be a decoration of the landscape and show itself in all its glory.

The building is being built in the same style as the house. The integrity of the architectural ensemble is preserved in the form or color of the walls and roof. The best place to install a gazebo is considered to be the area from which there is a clear view that is pleasing to the human eye.

It could be:

  • Many intersecting paths.
  • End points of the site.
  • Hills and hillocks.
  • Banks of reservoirs.
  • Waterfalls.
  • Green areas with vegetation.
  • Children's playgrounds.

To determine where to place a gazebo on the site, you should take into account the size of the garden area:

  1. the gazebo is placed on the border or in the far corners of the territory, while it is closed from prying eyes;
  2. the building is placed on a designated lawn with circular paths, which creates harmony of the entire landscape (see), as can be seen in the photo;
  3. the gazebo is attached to the side of the house, while remaining large area for planting plants.

Advice: You should not occupy a small area in the center of the garden for a gazebo, this will visually reduce its size.

  • On a site with an area of over 15 acres, the possibilities for successfully placing a gazebo are much higher. If desired, you can build several buildings here of different sizes and purposes.

On a large section of the structure you can place:

  1. in the corners of the territory;
  2. in the center of the estate;
  3. on the border of garden areas;
  4. at the entrance;
  5. near a reservoir.

How to choose a landscape design around a gazebo

To get an exquisite landscape around the gazebo with your own hands, you need to choose a style that combines the form of planting of vegetation and the building material used into a single composition. Before making a gazebo on the site, it is advisable to get acquainted with different styles design around it.

For example:

  • English style that combines smooth lines and natural placement natural stone. Plants are planted in layers, starting with grass and ending with shrubs or trees. For this style main feature- lack of symmetry. Here are:
  1. winding paths;
  2. slopes alternating with flat areas;
  3. reservoirs and hills.

  • Japanese, has a discreet beauty, where miniature models of the landscape are used with the obligatory presence of space for constructing a reservoir and a small island on it. The landscape is decorated like this:
  1. bridges;
  2. decorative lighting;
  3. peculiar stones;
  4. low-growing plants - from moss to dwarf trees.

  • Mediterranean, characterized by the obligatory presence of wrought iron or wicker furniture, a comfortable chaise lounge or a cozy hammock, flowers in clay pots. The landscape is complemented by:
  1. paths with natural pebbles in light colors;
  2. open lawns;
  3. bright floral and climbing plantings covering the arbors;
  4. columns;
  5. sculptures;
  6. small fountains.

  • Chinese, strict obedience to the laws of Feng Shui, where water, mountain and beautiful plant compositions are located in close proximity. What is most characteristic of the Chinese style is the creation of a main composition, and around it other, smaller details are grouped. The following elements are suitable for decoration:
  1. mounds or large stones, symbolizing mountains;
  2. curved stairs and bridges with curves, painted in bright colors.

The landscape of a site with a gazebo in a small area is more difficult to decorate. In this case, you need to decide what is more important to place near the building.

Tip: It is very important not to oversaturate the area, but to keep it simple while maintaining style. The successful decoration of the site depends on this.

How to landscape the area near the gazebo

The improvement of the gazebo on the site is carried out after choosing a style and developing a design project. Before you make a gazebo on your site, you need to consider what elements will be placed around the building.

These could be:

  • Paths and other ways of human movement. In one section, paths can be made of different materials, such as:
  1. asphalt;
  2. natural stone;
  3. pebbles or gravel;
  4. paving slabs;
  5. concrete pouring;
  6. wooden flooring made from bars or saw cuts.
  • Area lighting. This is a popular landscaping, gazebos and the entire garden receive fabulous beauty and a comfortable exit from home to dark time days. And the illuminated area protects a person from accidents.

  • Setting up a barbecue (see) or barbecue. At the same time, the price of the structure will be higher.
  • Installation of garden benches and benches.
  • Elements decorating the structure. The installed decorations must be in harmony with the chosen design style.

Each owner of a country house chooses the equipment necessary on the site for normal recreation. Detailed instructions for the correct design of the landscape of the adjacent territory are shown in the video in this article.

The weather dictates When starting construction in the garden, do not lose sight of reality. Average temperature in Moscow in May 12.8, in June - 17.1, in July - 18.4, in August - 16.4, in September - 10.8 degrees. At the same time, the maximum precipitation per year falls in three summer months. The average number of rainy days in each month of summer is 14, and the average number of clear days per summer is 25.

The conclusion suggests itself: we need a closed structure, protected from wind and rain. A gazebo that you will use not only on a hot summer day. The fact is that the purpose of the Russian dacha has changed somewhat: from a place for suburban farming, it is being transformed into a version of a country house. Where they either live permanently or come to relax throughout the year: not only when it’s warm and sunny. That is why new types of gazebos for summer cottages have appeared. If earlier they were built with the expectation of a warm and relatively dry season, now the owners want the gazebo to be cozy and damp autumn evening, and on a frosty winter day. Hence - more capital roofing and walls, mobile structures that allow you to close or completely open the internal space, reliable foundations and special cooking equipment.

Where to put the gazebo: important distances Formal restrictions: any building is built at a distance of at least 1 m from the border with neighbors. If a foundation is planned for the gazebo, then the minimum distance from the water supply and pressure sewer is 5 m, from the gas pipeline low pressure- 2 m, medium - 4 m, high - 7 m, from any power cables- 0.6 m. If there are fire hazardous objects with communications in the gazebo ( gas grill, for example), the distance to the fence should be at least 5 meters. How to measure distance correctly? If the roof protrudes no more than 50 cm from the plane of the wall, you need to measure from base to base. If more, then from the most protruding parts or their projection onto the ground. That is, if the roof overhang is 1 meter, you will have to retreat at least 2 meters from the fence.

Noise from neighbors If your plot is not too large (6–12 acres) and the neighboring plots are the same, then most likely you will be disturbed by the noise of your neighbors. Putting your gazebo in front of their porch is a bad idea. Choose a place as far as possible from sources of constant noise: the entrance to the neighbor’s house, their gazebos, barbecues and chicken coop. Move your gazebo away from your neighbor's toilet. And be sure to analyze where the wind blows most often: drafts and odors should be kept to a minimum.

CommunicationsIf you are going to install communications into the gazebo, check whether they will intersect with those already existing on the site. Consider how best to organize intersections. If you are making electrical connections underground, the cable must be buried at least 60 cm, and the width of the trenches must be at least 40 cm. When the site has already been developed and, for example, paths have been laid, this can be difficult. In this case, they make an “overhead”, that is, they supply electricity using a hanging cable. Important: Allowable length hanging cable without support - no more than 15 m.

In the photo: a gazebo with a pitched roofView and perspective A gazebo is always special decoration plot, it will definitely affect the overall appearance. But both its appearance and perspective can be partially corrected with the help of plants. When choosing the height of the gazebo, think about the plants that will grow nearby. Typically, gazebos are not built higher than three meters - this is exactly the height that many trees and large shrubs have. A gazebo can be either a bright accent that attracts attention and completes the perspective, or a completely secluded place that you won’t immediately guess about. A person perceives as a single whole a composition that fits into an angle of 30 degrees. Everything outside is a different composition. If you plan to install a gazebo close to the house or it will be visible from many vantage points, it should be a single style solution with the house. If your gazebo is located at a considerable distance from the house and is perceived as an independent object, there are no stylistic restrictions.

Lighting In any case, lighting is important. If the gazebo is located in the deep shade of buildings or trees, it will be cool and damp even on a hot summer day, and it will be unlikely to grow anything other than maiden grapes nearby. The more blooming you want to see the space around the gazebo, the more sunny the place should be.

Types of gazebos for summer cottages1. Summer tent If the task is “to make a place for tea,” you don’t have to build anything at all. Buy a ready-made prefabricated structure, assemble it in an hour - and the gazebo is ready. It will serve you well in the summer, then put it away until next season. There is no floor in such gazebos (if necessary, you will have to do the flooring yourself). But this is the fastest and cheap option, although not all-season. The price of the issue is within 30,000 rubles.

2. Gazebo for tea This is a place where you can sit in the garden, read, chat, eat and drink tea - outdoors, not in the house. Such a gazebo will provide shelter from the rain; it has minimal furniture, but no communications: light, water, heating. It can be very small, 2.5 x 2.5 meters, and even foldable, but nevertheless it will solve its problem.

In the photo: a playground on a wooden deck under the roof. 3. Gazebo for games A gazebo like the one in the photo can become a place for children to play, because it is always dry and has a roof and floor. On flat surface more convenient to play. And the children playing on wooden floor, will definitely be cleaner than children playing right on the ground. Gazebos for games require a minimum of furniture, but they should be more spacious than places for tea drinking. It is convenient when the gazebo for games is completely visible from the house and other places on the site. Important: Protect children from blood-sucking insects - put mosquito nets around the gazebo, carefully mow the grass around and treat it against insects.

4. Wooden universal gazebo A wooden frame structure will require a minimal foundation. Construction time is several days. Price ready-made options- from 50,000 to 100,000 rubles, although there are, of course, more expensive ones. Such gazebos are placed on concrete blocks, on screw piles, on a concrete foundation, sometimes even on a sand-lined surface lined with paving slabs. It is important that the tree is ventilated and not in contact with the ground. Otherwise, the gazebo will begin to rot ahead of time. If you are pouring a concrete foundation (a columnar one is sufficient for easy construction), then this must be done at an air temperature of at least five degrees, and the foundation must harden for a week.

There are the most different types gazebos are made of wood, but those like those in the photo are the most common in our region. They have a light foundation, a wooden beam frame, walls without windows (possibly lattice), a plank floor and an ondulin or soft tiles roof (metal tiles in the photo). It’s easy to make such a gazebo with your own hands if you have the skills. Homemade design It will most likely cost less than purchased, but of course it will require effort, including the delivery of materials. As long as there are no windows or solid walls, functionally such a building is not fundamentally different from a folding tent. The only advantage is the wooden floor. Leaves will be applied inside the open gazebo and snow will be swept away. Once the walls appear, the situation will change. The gazebo can be used not only in summer.

In the photo: a gazebo under a gable roof. It is unlikely that you will go with a teapot to the far corner of the garden. But you will definitely grill shish kebab here5. Gazebo with barbecue or grill houseIf you want something more substantial than a wooden one frame building, imagination will be limited only by money. Grill houses are also sold ready-made, but their price starts from a million rubles. The barbecue complex itself may or may not be included in this amount and will also amount to hundreds of thousands. It will take several days to prepare the foundation; the rest of the work will take about two weeks, if we're talking about about a stone structure. At least light is permanently supplied to such a house. Equipment for grilling and frying kebabs is installed inside, a hood is installed in the roof, furniture is placed for gatherings and eating.

Typically, such structures are made from fairly heavy materials: logs, aerated concrete blocks, bricks. And they require a permanent concrete foundation, strip or monolithic slab. In expensive grill houses, they equip a full-fledged working kitchen area, where water and sewerage are supplied, electrical or gas burners. You can limit yourself to stationary electricity for lighting, and do all the cooking on charcoal or wood. In any case, you need to think about the fire safety of the building, especially in non-obvious issues, for example, in the thermal insulation of pipes.

What to make windows fromGlass. A traditional option for wooden and stone gazebos. Both swing doors and sliding structures. But if you choose standard windows, you will no longer be able to get a completely open opening - the frames will get in the way. By the way, they can be anything: wood, plastic, aluminum.

Frameless glazing. If you are building a stone rather than a wooden gazebo with a barbecue, then it is possible frameless option glazing. The role of the frame will be played by the aluminum profile at the top and bottom of the window. The windows themselves do not have frames. They are made of thick (up to 12 mm) tempered glass. The glass can be moved by the handles and rotated around a vertical axis, so warm weather you can assemble the entire window “accordion-style” in the corner, and the entire opening will be open. It will not be possible to install such a structure yourself. And for a wooden building this window option is not suitable, because for normal functioning Frameless windows require a rigid base with unchanged geometry. A wooden structures, even timber, can change sizes depending on temperature and humidity.

Polycarbonate. Another budget option, suitable for windows and roofs. It is cheaper than glass, and you can install it yourself. The appearance will be similar to glazing with an aluminum profile. Polycarbonate is not afraid of impacts, unlike glass, and cuts - unlike polyvinyl chloride. It transmits light just as well as glass, but weighs much less. Polycarbonate is a flexible material that bends in different directions. Non-trivial design solutions with curved roofing or walls are possible. In principle, even the entire gazebo can be made of polycarbonate. Whether it will look like a greenhouse or a castle in the air depends on the taste and skill of the owners.

In the photo: a gazebo with a hipped roof, with mosquito nets on the windows. Nets instead of windows. Instead of windows in the gazebo, you can only put a mosquito net. It can be in rolls, like regular fabric, or on frames. Such a mesh can be rolled up into a roll like horizontal blinds(roller shutter devices). Mesh tents without a frame are also sold, which can be draped over your structure. The only important thing here is not to miss the size. “Camouflage” nets are also produced. They protect not only from insects, but also from prying eyes. Soft meshes are easy to install yourself. It is enough to secure them on the windows with a stapler or using strings. For custom frame nets, you will need brackets (they are sold complete with the gazebo itself). Nets are also sold for doorways- on frames and on magnets.

In the photo: a terrace near the house with a bamboo curtain - the same can be used in a gazebo to protect from the sun. Polyvinyl chloride. These are “soft” windows. Quite thick and durable transparent film is familiar to many summer cafe. To open the opening, you simply need to roll the film into a roll. Such “windows” can also be installed independently. They can be left for the winter, but at frost below 15 degrees they will lose their elasticity and become stiff, and at this point it is better not to move or twist them. The downside of the film is the possibility of cuts, which cannot be sealed or sealed. You can only replace the entire canvas. But manufacturers promise 7–10 years of maintenance-free operation.

Legal registration of gazebos Is it necessary to register a gazebo on summer cottage? Structures without a foundation or those that can be disassembled without damaging the foundation do not require registration. These include lightweight buildings made of wood. But if there is a foundation, there must also be legal documentation. There will also be taxes, but only if the building area exceeds 50 sq.m. With a smaller area you will have to apply for a tax benefit. Important: It will not be possible to supply gas to a building that does not exist legally.

In the photo: a gazebo in the shape of a geodesic dome. Should a gazebo look like a house? There is no single answer. It’s good if it is possible to maintain stylistic unity on the site and all buildings have common features. The smaller the area, the more important this unity is. However, a gazebo can also be a corner with a completely special style. But even then it’s better to beat it stylistically. The easiest way to do this is with plants. Post your photo in the comments to the article

The house has been erected, the site is fragrant with flowers, almost all the paths have been paved, streams and alpine slides are pleasing to the eye, but it seems that something is missing. For example, places from where you can contemplate all the beauty of a summer cottage and where you can accommodate guests to drink tea in the lap of nature. We will talk about a gazebo, since it is this that gives a suburban building site a more perfect look, makes it cozy, and also distinguishes it favorably from neighboring sites.

A garden gazebo is a light and airy structure on a summer cottage, which allows you to enjoy natural nature and fresh air on summer evenings, regardless of the weather. The roof of the gazebo overhead provides shelter from the September rain and the July heat. And if the gazebo is equipped with a barbecue, it will become the central place for country holidays, which is especially important when holding celebrations with a large family.

We will devote this article to just such a structure at the dacha - a gazebo. We will tell you in detail how to build a garden gazebo at the lowest cost and with great pleasure, we will find the right place on the building site and select the necessary material.

Choosing a place for a gazebo on a summer cottage

The location of the garden gazebo should be thought out in advance, since this is a rather important moment on which future arrangement activities will depend.

Many private homeowners prefer to build gazebos in the center of their properties, on view, mainly as a decorative addition. Some place gazebos at the borders of the site, in a secluded corner, planting grapevine or climbing flowers.

When choosing a location for a gazebo on a summer cottage, you should take into account the heat summer sun. Having placed the gazebo in the sun, of course, in addition to a cozy structure, you will purchase a stove in which it will be, well, at least, not comfortable enough. The location of the gazebo in the country should correspond not only exclusively general layout and design of the building site, but also to be a shaded place, for example, by tree crowns.

The correct choice of location for the garden building will be close to an artificial or natural reservoir, which will give natural freshness and coolness to those relaxing in the gazebo. In addition, contemplating the landscape of water has a calming effect on the psyche and brings peace. And, of course, there should be no active noise sources near the future garden gazebo.

Country gazebo: type of construction and dimensions

Based on the type of construction, gazebos are divided into two types: permanent and, oddly enough, temporary (collapsible). Country gazebos temporary type, they are installed at the beginning of the warm season, and dismantled before the onset of cold periods of the year. Temporary gazebos are stored in a room that will protect them from bad weather and, as a result, from damage to the material. The advantage of a temporary structure is the ability to move around the summer cottage, but installation and dismantling work must be done twice a year.

A permanent type of gazebo structure remains at the construction site all year round, therefore, a stable base is used in their construction. Such a base can be a coating made of concrete stone, asphalt, supports on stilts or a solid foundation, but we will talk about this during the actual construction of the gazebo.

A garden gazebo can be constructed in a shape at your personal discretion. They can be rectangular, round, square, etc. Garden buildings can be with a single-pitched roof, with two slopes, or with hipped (multi-pitched) roofs and domed ones.

We will consider the simplest design: a quadrangular gazebo with a gable roof and four supporting pillars. We can, of course, simplify our task even more, that is, equip the gazebo with a pitched roof, but since we’ve already taken on capital structure, then we’ll make it more thorough.

The optimal size would be a gazebo of about 3x3 meters. With such dimensions of the structure, a company of fifteen people will be able to comfortably accommodate and have a pleasant rest. In general, for such dimensions, of course, four pillars will not be enough; we will add one more on each of the three sides.

Preparatory work: site and materials

We chose a fairly simple design for the gazebo, decided on its location on the garden plot and its dimensions, and the structure can be made very simply from wood material, but first we prepare a drawing.

Next we proceed to the most optimal solution when building a permanent gazebo, the main one will be load-bearing structure made of stone, concrete or wooden poles, which are strengthened in the foundation. Before starting marking, it is necessary to determine the condition of the soil in the area. Ignoring the basic characteristics of the soil at a summer cottage can lead to partial or complete deformation of the constructed object.

The area under the dacha gazebo must be thoroughly cleaned of debris and vegetation, and armed with a shovel, remove the layer fertile soil, usually it is about 10 cm. Take a measuring tape, twine and pegs for marking work. Note that even at the stage of design and marking of the future structure, it is necessary to take into account the possibility of free passage of one person around the gazebo. This measure will greatly facilitate both the progress of the work itself and future repair work.

If you agree with the dimensions indicated in the illustration, then when purchasing material, you can rely on the list below, the calculations in which, of course, are approximate, but quite realistic:

Sand-cement blocks measuring 0.2x0.2x0.4 m in the amount of 9 pieces;
- sand as bedding for blocks (0.1 cubic meter);
- for waterproofing under the blocks, we will purchase about 2 square meters of roofing felt;
- for the rafter system, railings, braces and floor joists you will need edged board cross section 150x50 mm, about 0.5 cubic meter;
- for sheathing, edged board with a cross-section from 25x10 mm to 25x15 mm, about 0.25 cubic meters;
- as a support for the floorboards - timber with a section of 5x50 mm - 3 meters, 4 pieces;
- For support pillars you will need a beam with a cross-section of 100x100 mm in the amount of 4 pieces, 6 meters long;
- 9 square meters of floorboards are required.

We will cover the roof with shingles, the color of which we select, of course, at our personal discretion. We will need about 7 packages of sheet shinglas and 1 package of ridge shingles, we get approximately 18 square meters, taking into account waste. Corrugated galvanization can be used as a roofing material, it will be relatively cheaper, and installation will also be faster. We do not recommend covering the roof of the gazebo with ondulin or slate; we are not covering a chicken coop, but a place for cultural recreation.

We will equip the roof eaves with 2-meter droppers, you will need 4 pieces. Our roof will have 4 overhangs, we will cover them with 2-meter end strips. We will also need balusters under the railings to cover the nine linear meters, we will purchase 68 pieces with a material width of 12 cm. We also need a plinth (fillet) to secure the balusters to the railings and for the floor, about 36 linear meters with dimensions of 32x32 mm or 25x25 mm.

Any of the structural elements of a garden building need protection from climatic influences, since the material used is. Therefore, we will additionally acquire antiseptic compounds, impregnations, dyes, varnish or enamel in an amount of about 20 liters. And, of course, do not forget about the assortment of nails, including galvanized nails for fastening shingles to the roof, balusters and for the floor. In total you may need about 5-7 kilograms.

From the inside of the gazebo, the ceiling can be covered with clapboard, and the joints can be covered with planks so that the overall appearance is not spoiled by unplaned boards of the rafter system and sheathing.

The roof of the dacha gazebo rests on pillars, which are best built from timber with a cross-section of at least 100x100 mm. We do not recommend using purchased glued or carved stands, based on the experience of the craftsmen, they say that they can lead and even the material can delaminate. For aesthetics, racks made of timber can be planed, and with a circular saw set to a depth of, for example, one centimeter, cuts can be made along the entire length along the centers of the four sides. And if you have the skill of wood carving, then creating a masterpiece will not be a problem at all.

But how to make sure that the gazebo does not collapse even at the construction stage, we will answer simply, you need not to be lazy and install braces along the bottoms of the pillars at an angle of 45 degrees. Benches along the perimeter of the garden gazebo will help hide unsightly stops.

We recommend making the roof slopes with a projection of 50 cm beyond the dimensions of the building, so that raindrops do not fall on friends resting peacefully in the gazebo. The space between the railings and the ceiling can be covered with transparent polycarbonate to prevent precipitation from wetting your backs and floors. And sew up the bottom with a solid board instead of balusters. We can recommend polycarbonate with a thickness of 6 mm to 8 mm and a yellowish tint. Even in cloudy weather, the shade will give the sunshine behind your back, and the material with less thickness is too flimsy.

Since the garden gazebo in our case is a stationary structure, the floor can be made of paving slabs. Paving slabs placed on a 10 cm layer of sand (see), which in turn is poured onto the soil, with a 10 cm layer of fertile soil previously removed. To seal the seams, you can use a sand-cement mixture.

The constructed gazebo must meet fairly standard requirements and be multifunctional: it should be cool in the summer heat, and not cold in wet weather (if you use cladding); it should be as secluded a place as possible and at the same time be able to accommodate a sufficient number of people. A garden gazebo in a country house should be a place where you can equally read a book and have lunch.

How and where to build a gazebo with your own hands

The gazebo is one of the main recreation areas in the garden. You can receive guests, cook, or just relax while watching the landscape. Gazebos are constructed from wood and forged metal, from metal pipes and bricks, from natural stone.

They come in different shapes - round and square, rectangular, 6- and 8-sided. Some gazebos have a space fenced off with blank walls from prying eyes, while others have window openings. You can make a gazebo without walls; you can replace them with openwork grilles.

Check out the possibilities of the gazebo. In the gazebo you can relax from the midday heat, hide from the rain, invite friends for tea, retire from prying eyes, admire your garden or pond in complete privacy. Try to place the gazebo in the part of the garden that offers the most beautiful view, just don’t put a gazebo in the middle of a plot in the sun. If you are going to arrange receptions or tea parties in this gazebo, then it should be close to the entrance to your house.

A classic DIY gazebo is simple wooden structure. It can have any shape and size - for example, with a support and mutually intersecting boards. Simple summerhouses are quite easy to make, especially if you purchase ready-made parts that are installed on site.

Marking the area for the gazebo

Let's start marking the site: the position of the building is indicated using a cord, placing marks in the places where each support will be. After final inspection, construction begins. Vertical posts should have a size of 70 by 7 mm and 3 meters in height.

Installation of supports

To securely fix the supports in the ground, install side supports in concrete or use metal steps made of profile steel. For the purpose of precise vertical installation of supports, a level or plumb line is used. The supports facing each other are connected to each other by boards. Such boards form the ceiling of a garden gazebo. In order to fix these boards, it is necessary to make cuts on the racks.

After this, rafter legs are installed from timber measuring 50 by 70 mm. The rafter legs need to be the same size; they are marked and assembled on the ground. After the roof outline is ready, you need to start installing the roof. Boards are placed on the trails, tightly fitted to one another. The roof can be made from OSB sheets, then everything is covered with a soft roof.

In order to install the supports of the gazebo, you need to dig a hole 50-70 cm deep and install a pole in it. The lower part of the support should be treated with an antiseptic or bitumen to protect it from moisture wooden stand. At the bottom of the pit, the soil is compacted with a tamper, and big stone or the bottom is filled with concrete so that the stand does not fall into the soil during operation. The space between the stand and the ground is filled with concrete with layer-by-layer compaction every 15-20 cm. The vertical installation of the stand is checked periodically using a plumb line. The concrete surface must have a slope from the support to allow rainwater to drain.

When installing supports on an existing hard surface, metal shoes are used that are attached to the base of the posts. On a concrete base, a shoe of 100 by 100 mm will be sufficient; on an asphalt surface, the shoe should have a size of 150 by 150 mm.

Fixing the supports

To secure the support from horizontal movement, the shoe is attached to the base with crutches or anchor bolts.

The simplest, but less reliable way is to install supports on metal stepsons. A stepchild is any rolled metal (I-beam, angle, channel). Mark the location of the supports and drive the stepson into the ground to a depth of 50 to 70 cm.

There should be 20-30 cm of stepson above the ground. The support, which is located in vertical position, is attached to the stepson with metal clamps or coupling bolts that pass through the stepson and the support.

If you want to save space in the garden, you can place a gazebo for your dacha close to the fence. In this case, you only need 2 supports, and fence posts will serve as the other 2 supports.

Since the fence posts usually have a small height (maximum 2 m), they are used as stepchildren and are attached to them with clamps or bolts of the gazebo post, while the opposite posts are installed by any other method.

DIY wooden gazebo

Let us also note the fact that a do-it-yourself wooden gazebo is as convenient as possible in that it can be of two types - capital and lightweight, collapsible. The second option can move freely around the territory of the dacha and change location every season. Also, a collapsible wooden gazebo does not necessarily have to spend the winter in the open air and lose the properties of the material. It may well be located in a barn, veranda of a country house, and so on.

Don't forget that in this type you can also add gazebos made of timber and gazebos made of logs. Building them with your own hands is much more interesting than ordering them from craftsmen.

DIY brick gazebo

The next option is more durable and can rightfully be considered capital. Brick gazebos take longer to build than wooden gazebos, but they are also more reliable. These are really strong buildings that are located on a monolithic or strip foundation, and can be used not only as a place for morning tea and evening dinner, but even as a summer kitchen, temporary shelter, and so on. Here everything directly depends on internal filling designs.

It can be a gazebo with a barbecue, a gazebo with a barbecue, or just a gazebo with several benches and big table. It is quite possible to install a sun lounger, armchairs, or sofa in such a gazebo, and this is very convenient, because by glazing the gazebo with double-glazed windows or even placing it in the openings wooden windows, you can instantly convert a brick gazebo into a place to stay for the night. This is very convenient if a large company has gathered at the dacha and needs to be accommodated for the night. As you can see, functionality increases with the strength of the material.

DIY gazebos made of polycarbonate

We also discussed this option in detail in one of our previous publications, and it is there that you can read about the advantages and methods of constructing such structures. Now, we just want to remind you that polycarbonate itself is truly a revolutionary material with which you can make a lot of things. AND, best option, which we found is, of course, a cozy, bright, comfortable and modern gazebo made of polycarbonate.

That's enough lightweight design, which can include almost any type of foundation and type of frame. This is precisely the main advantage of polycarbonate gazebos - they can be built even from improvised means, without investing fabulous money in amenities. Therefore, think carefully before building a gazebo at your dacha with your own hands, perhaps this option is the most suitable.

DIY gazebo made of metal

An excellent option for the summer resident who has heavy tools at hand - an angle grinder, a hammer drill, a welding machine. In this case, the construction of the gazebo will go quite quickly, if, of course, you purchase the necessary material on time.

A metal gazebo can be installed on several types of foundation, which is very convenient. These are stone, brick, strip foundation, monolithic pouring, as well as piles and pipes. But this is not even the most important thing, but the speed of assembly of the structure. If the do-it-yourself gazebo project is drawn up correctly, then assembling it will not be difficult. All parts can be installed on the foundation sequentially, or as a single frame. To assemble a metal gazebo with your own hands, you can use bolts and other fasteners, or a welding machine, which gives you the opportunity to choose a more convenient option.

A metal gazebo can be summer, or maybe all-season, if it is properly equipped: sheathed, insulated, installed double-glazed windows and doors. In short, a pretty good solution for any summer cottage.

Wrought iron gazebos for summer cottages

This type is not much different from metal gazebos, meaning installation, its speed and complexity. But wrought-iron gazebos are not lacking in decorativeness. The price also corresponds, which not everyone can afford.

But there is also a small drawback, because a wrought-iron gazebo is precisely a summer building, where it is quiet and calm, cool and fun in the company of friends, but to convert it into an autumn room, you will need a complete reconstruction and addition of its materials described a little above - wood, metal , brick and so on.

But there is also an “iron” advantage, which is very difficult to argue with - a forged gazebo is a unique symbol of some styles of landscape design, and fits uniquely into any, even ready-made design territories. Therefore, if decorativeness is a priority rather than practicality, then a forged gazebo is the best option.

As for building a forged gazebo with your own hands, it’s a little more complicated, since we would advise you to delegate the work with expensive elements to qualified craftsmen. But, if you are completely confident in your own abilities, you have one or two assistants, good tool and the desire to work, then you can safely begin.

DIY hexagonal gazebo

The drawings that you previously drew up for gazebos are not very suitable here, since you will have to create completely new markings and carry out other calculations. It's all about geometry, and if you get along with it, the result will be magnificent.

You can completely omit the issue of foundation, since a hexagonal gazebo is a wooden gazebo, which means that you should use the appropriate foundation, which we have already considered. Next, install the frame, preferably sequentially, and build the roof. This is where the most complex process begins, which will require a special scheme.

If you can build it yourself, you will save a significant amount of money, and in the near future you will understand how interesting and exciting building a gazebo with your own hands can be. The reason for this is the very shape and decorativeness of the hexagonal gazebo, which carries beauty, mood, and a sense of celebration.

DIY rectangular gazebo

It's hard to name rectangular gazebo an independent species, since almost any other type of gazebo can be of this form. I would just like to note that this is the simplest version of a gazebo, summer or winter, large or small and cozy, and the reason for this is correct form, which is always easy to work with.

The algorithm of work is still the same - foundation, frame, roof. But whether to make a gazebo summer or all-season is a question for you personally.

A simple gazebo with your own hands can be built from a material convenient for you - brick, stone, wood, metal, polycarbonate, or a combination of these materials.

DIY gazebo canopy

The simplest, inexpensive, light in weight and practical option for gazebos for small country houses. A gazebo-canopy resembles a beach umbrella or a standard tent - it can be assembled and disassembled, transported and reinstalled anywhere. Therefore, a country gazebo very easily turns into a portable one, with which you can relax in nature.

The structure of the gazebo-canopy is created from pipes with special connections - this is both the frame and the base. There is no need for a foundation for such a gazebo, so that’s one problem. As a roof, any tension awning, special film, tarpaulin, fabric can be used. If you want this type of summer gazebo to really work out with your own hands, start by drawing up a drawing and exact dimensions.

Building a gazebo with your own hands: the correct algorithm

How to make a gazebo with your own hands? This question interests many, and we hope that we will help each person in some way. So, in this section we will very briefly look at the basic sequence, following which you can build a reliable and beautiful gazebo with your own hands, decorate it and provide everything you need:

  • Gazebo layout. Making gazebos with your own hands always begins with choosing the material, size, shape of the gazebo and creating a drawing according to which it will be built. We should not forget about the estimate for materials and consumables, as well as tools for making a gazebo. Budget in advance for decor and ensuring comfort and coziness in the gazebo, determine seasonality, calculate furniture and accessories, etc.;
  • Choosing a location. Before building a gazebo, you definitely need to choose a location. The first is the requirements of the structure itself: soil, uniformity and size of the site, plantings, communications, and so on. The second is your personal requirements: a gazebo in the shade or in the sun, in a garden or in a clearing, in a quiet or more ventilated place;
  • Foundation. Depending on the type of gazebo you want to install or build on your site, you will need to determine the type of foundation. The main criterion for choosing a foundation will be the size of the gazebo, the total weight of the structure, its shape, materials of manufacture, as well as the requirement for the floor of the gazebo;
  • Base and frame. If the material is determined in advance, you will not encounter any problems at this stage. Following the design, simply install the base and general frame on the foundation, secure it well, carry out a preliminary inspection before installing the roof;
  • The frame for the roof and the roof itself. Depending on the type of gazebo, select and roofing material, from it - the complexity and strength of the frame under the roof. The frame is metal or wood, the roofing material is slate, corrugated sheeting, polycarbonate, tarpaulin, ondulin, metal tiles and so on. Remember, roofing a gazebo with your own hands is not the easiest process, especially if you choose a hexagonal gazebo.

Having finished with the main building, it needs to be put in order, since garden gazebos with your own hands are not only a foundation, frame and roof, but also arrangement of both the internal and external parts.

Ensuring the comfort of the gazebo

Certain household items will help make your gazebo truly multifunctional, cozy and comfortable for relaxation. This is a good one wooden table with your own hands, chairs and benches, perhaps even cabinets and shelves, if the gazebo is designed as a summer kitchen and a place for gathering large companies. It is also very convenient if the gazebo has a stove, grill, or barbecue. With their presence, you can have a picnic even in not the best weather.

Decorating the gazebo

After building the gazebo and providing it with everything necessary from the inside, the last question arises: how to decorate the gazebo with your own hands? The answer is very simple - try to make it the most comfortable and attractive for yourself. To do this, you can use absolutely different options - painting or varnishing, decorating with inlays, decorating the inside with tablecloths and napkins, and beautiful plants outside.

Now that you know exactly how to build a gazebo with your own hands and make it practically a living space, you can get to work. And we can only wish you success and good results!

However, you will need to take into account all the small details to ensure that the property is of high quality and meets the stated expectations. Buy only proven ones building materials to make the gazebo attractive and practical.

Species

Gazebos can be very different. The choice of the required type is based on the purpose of using the building.

  • Gazebo looks beautiful and attractive on the site. It is a small architectural form made of wood. In it you can relax in hot weather and relax in the cool of the evening. Translated from Italian, gazebo means balcony or ledge. At the moment, modern objects have undergone modifications and are gazebos that are located on special ledges. Foundation - prerequisite for such structures.

  • Barrel gazebo counts budget option. It is created from a polycarbonate sheet that acts as a wall and roof. Such a structure reliably protects the backs of the people inside from rain and wind.

  • Most summer residents install small architectural forms on their site for a comfortable pastime. Every person knows that a dacha without barbecue is not a dacha. For this reason they are popular designs for barbecue. They can have any shape and be made of different materials. If you want your building to look original, choose wood products.

  • Collapsible structures are in demand, since the summer season is characterized by a short period of time. Not every summer resident comes to his site in winter, so a stationary gazebo will be idle. Bad weather conditions destroy the material, it is necessary to monitor the construction every year to extend its service life. And mobile structures are convenient because at the end of the summer season, all elements are put away in the shed and stored until next spring.

Sliding windows gazebos will appeal to people who want to extend their time enjoying nature in the fall. This type glazing is gaining popularity, as it is practical and compact. Such a system allows you to make maximum use of the gazebo area, since opening the doors does not require additional space. The convenience of the sliding system is justified by the fact that when strong wind the doors don't slam.

Manufacturing materials

Summerhouses are made from different materials. Depending on your plans, you can choose the option that suits you.

From boards

A wooden gazebo is the simplest and convenient model. To install such an object, you do not need to build monolithic foundation, since it can be replaced with simple cinder blocks, concrete blocks, a wooden frame and old tires.

Wooden gazebos have numerous advantages:

  • environmental friendliness of the material;
  • ease of use: collapsible models can be transported;
  • multifunctionality;
  • the gazebo will fit into any interior;
  • long service life.

There are also disadvantages to such objects:

  • to prevent the material from deteriorating, it should be treated with special means;
  • wood is a fire hazardous raw material.

For work, you can use any material that is available. It is possible to make an object from oak, linden, pine. Many people choose gazebos from a blockhouse. Round timber is popular. Objects made from this material have different designs. Appearance depends on its size and type of wood.

Made of brick

It's durable and reliable material for construction. With the help of these raw materials you can create a gazebo for many years. Such an object must be located on a strong foundation. There may be a strip or monolithic base. Most people use such gazebos as summer kitchen, places to relax with barbecue.

Stone

Stone gazebos are also popular. Limestone and other natural materials are suitable for work. Stone buildings are reliable and solid. However, experts do not recommend making small gazebos from stone, as you will lose the fundamental effect.

From foam blocks

To make a gazebo from foam blocks, you must follow several rules. This is due to the high level of absorbency of the blocks. To create a competent structure, you will need to install internal waterproofing. Foam blocks are considered the best option for the construction of a winter gazebo, since the material retains heat well.

Polycarbonate

Polycarbonate gazebos are light and unpretentious structures that can be built on any foundation and frame.

The object has the following advantages:

  • low cost;
  • mobility;
  • resistance to temperature changes;
  • bright and colorful appearance;
  • fire resistance;
  • resistance to mechanical stress;
  • flexibility and moisture resistance;
  • good sound insulation of the material and heat retention.

The disadvantages include the following:

  • low abrasive resistance;
  • susceptibility to UV rays.

Metal

Metal structures are the most durable gazebos. If you decide to create a metal structure, rest assured that such a structure will serve you for many years.

Metal gazebos are a manufacturing method for a person who has a welding machine, an electric grinder and a hammer drill on hand. Brick can be used as a foundation, monolithic filling, pipes and stones. With a well-designed drawing, you can quickly assemble your structure. There are lightweight options for summer pastime. For winter events the structure can be insulated.

Advantages of metal gazebos:

  • resistance to environmental influences;
  • simple installation;
  • fire safety of the material.

Negative qualities:

  • heating in the sun;
  • subject to corrosion;
  • in winter, the metal freezes very much.

From plastic pipes

Standard gazebos have capital construction. However, in addition to the usual brick and wood, many people began to use PVC pipes.

The advantages of this material include the following qualities:

  • long period of use;
  • resistance to aggressive environmental influences;
  • easy installation;
  • the possibility of modifying the building;
  • mobility;
  • affordable price.

Parts and components

When designing a gazebo, all components of the future building should be taken into account. Think through every detail. If we talk about the components of the room, several features should be taken into account.

  • The floor must be stable and durable. This is due to issues of safety and comfort of guests. Gaps and holes in the base are not allowed. You can choose any raw material depending on the style of your design. The following raw materials can be used: wood, concrete, stone tiles and other common materials. In some cases, a gazebo is built directly on the ground. However, you will not be able to walk barefoot in such a structure.

  • Windows play an important role. They are responsible for letting light into the room. Choose open options so as not to turn on the electricity during the day. For convenience, you can equip the windows with shutters.

  • A door is a component of any building, which should be taken care of. Depending on the type of gazebo you choose, you can install a door or exclude its use. For open structures they are not provided; in other situations, one should rely on the style of construction. In many cases, a mosquito net will be relevant for a summer house.

  • Think over the fence for your object. It is not necessary to use a chain-link or a full-fledged fence as a fence. You can mark the area with a low fence, ground lanterns, and even a flowering garden.

  • Ceiling selected based on the style of the gazebo. In any case, regardless of the design, it must be of high quality and safe.

Design options

Before designing a new gazebo, you should decide on the shape of the structure, as well as the features of each type. There are several variations.

  • Hexagonal gazebos. These structures are made only from wood. First of all, you need to develop a diagram, the compilation of which requires knowledge of geometry. Initially, the frame is installed on the prepared foundation, after which the roof is installed. Hexagonal designs are difficult to create, but the end result is extremely attractive. Such buildings can decorate any area and bring a sense of high style and festivity to the landscape design.

  • Rectangular design. This variation is considered universal. Architectural forms can be made from any material. Metal, stone and wood are actively used. You can operate such structures in winter and summer. The shape will appeal to the category of people who value comfort and practicality.

  • Canopy. The simplest and cheapest type of structure. As a rule, it is chosen by owners of small plots, since such an object requires little space. The building is prefabricated and resembles a modular tent that can be transported. To create a canopy, you do not need to pour a foundation; the design itself is simple. To build it, you only need to correctly connect the pipes, which will act as a frame and base. Tarpaulin or special types of fabrics are used as a roof.

  • Round options are suitable for those who are conservatives and value an atmosphere of calm and comfort. In such a structure you can put round table, where you will spend time with your loved ones. For a complete composition, you can install it around the perimeter of the room wooden benches. Round designs They are considered universal, as they fit any design.

  • Octagonal gazebo. Octagonal wooden structures are in great demand. The structures have numerous advantages, where streamlined corners play a key role. Due to this, there is a lot of space in the gazebos; up to 15 people can easily fit in such a room. Some people decide on options with a glass roof, others choose open variations. It is important that objects are made from natural raw materials. You can use: oak, alder, pine.

  • Triangular gazebo- a rare occurrence. As a rule, they are open shed buildings, which are made in Scandinavian or half-timbered style. This shape is often used in pergola projects. There are practically no closed triangular gazebos, since they have too much non-functional space in the corners.

  • Corner gazebos Rarely installed in summer cottages. However, such unusual designs can transform any inconspicuous corner. You can put the gazebo in a secluded place and spend time with your loved ones in it. Some users find that a frame structure is suitable for this arrangement.

Also, gazebos may differ in the shape of the roof.

  • Gable roof. This is the simplest and most inexpensive option, which consists of two inclined planes. A ridge is formed in the upper part of these planes. On the sides, such a structure is limited by the front. You can create a gazebo with the same or different angles of the slopes, depending on your wishes and ideas.
  • Shed roof It is also considered a simple and inexpensive option. The design is an inclined plane, which is located on walls of different heights. The ramp should be located on the windward part of the structure.
  • Dome roof looks like half a ball, which rests with its circumference on a wall in the shape of a cylinder. Such roofs are convenient because snow does not stagnate on them, and they look very impressive. When choosing such a structure, keep in mind that designing an object is accompanied by certain difficulties.

  • Roof in chinese style considered the most difficult. This is an original creation that is guaranteed to attract the attention of everyone around. Due to the raised corners, a large and high roof with curved shapes tends to “fly” into the sky, giving the interior of the site a special atmosphere. From the outside it may seem that the roof is tied at the corners to the clouds.

Dimensions

Many summer residents think about what dimensions to create a gazebo. These small architectural forms can have any size and appearance. By installing a structure in the shade of the garden and decorating it with plants, you will get best place for a vacation where you can spend time with your loved ones. Some will like a large and spacious gazebo, while others will choose a mini-structure in which it is comfortable to spend time together.

Despite the fact that gazebos can have any style and shape, it is necessary to determine in advance the dimensions of the future building. Remember that the structure is intended for people, so every person who will be in the gazebo should feel comfortable and spacious. A convenient approach to the table and benches should be provided.

How smaller size garden, the more light and elegant the design of the structure must be. The gazebo should not suppress other components of the garden, but the main indicator determining the size of the building is the number of people who will use the object at the same time. Experts recommend that each visitor be given an area of 3x3 or 4x4 meters.

Size is the key criterion, which people pay attention to when purchasing finished structures. You will need to decide in advance what you want to get. It will be a shame if after a certain period of time you realize that the purchased gazebo is not suitable for your garden or is not able to accommodate the whole company. The approximate dimensions of the gazebo are 10-20 square meters. These figures are considered approximate. For a small family, an option with an area of 5 by 3 or 6 by 3 meters is suitable.

It is impossible to imagine a gazebo without furniture. If you want the building to freely accommodate a table and chairs for a company of four people, make sure that the internal diameter is greater than three meters. The minimum height should be 2.3 meters.

Styles, designs and accessories

Modern gazebos can be designed in different styles, repeating the concept of the site and embodying the designer’s ideas. To decide on the style of future architecture, check out the most popular variations.

Japanese style

It's always simple and beautiful. This design is suitable for those who want to create an atmosphere of serenity in their area. In such a gazebo it will always be pleasant to relax, immersed in your own thoughts. Choosing this image for the structure, remember - it should not contain unnecessary parts.

When creating a gazebo, use only natural materials: wood and stone. In such buildings are welcome large windows and closed partitions with square bindings. You can use decor on the walls, which will act as an aesthetic component and help protect the object from sunlight.

    THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not have been motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

        What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay. And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet. I wish you good luck and stay safe in Asia.

  • It’s also nice that eBay’s attempts to Russify the interface for users from Russia and the CIS countries have begun to bear fruit. After all, the overwhelming majority of citizens of the countries of the former USSR do not have strong knowledge of foreign languages. No more than 5% of the population speak English. There are more among young people. Therefore, at least the interface is in Russian - this is a big help for online shopping on this trading platform. eBay did not follow the path of its Chinese counterpart Aliexpress, where a machine (very clumsy and incomprehensible, sometimes causing laughter) translation of product descriptions is performed. I hope that at a more advanced stage of development of artificial intelligence, high-quality machine translation from any language to any in a matter of seconds will become a reality. So far we have this (the profile of one of the sellers on eBay with a Russian interface, but an English description):
