Choice of color depending on lighting. When choosing the color of the ceiling, colors and patterns for finishing walls, it is necessary to take into account the natural lighting of the room, its height and purpose, floor area, as well as the location of the room in relation to the cardinal points.
In premises located on north side, as well as insufficiently lit areas, bright coatings are recommended warm colors(yellow, pinkish), giving the room a lighter and spacious view. A small room can be visually expanded by using light but cool paint colors. Light green, silver-gray and light blue will visually increase the dimensions of the room. In small rooms you should not place dark furniture, hang curtains and carpets in dark shades.
For small rooms in one-room apartment plain light colors are best finishing materials- white, cream, light beige, light blue with fine relief pattern. Such surfaces will visually distance opposite walls from each other.
In apartments where the area allows you to experiment with color (rooms from 25 m2 or more), you can use richer tones - blue, burgundy, blue-green, rich gold, but provided that these shades are compatible with the color upholstered furniture, curtains and flooring.
There can be a lot of color combinations, but they may not always be beautiful and pleasing to the eye. Let's look at the following four most common ones: a single-color combination, a simple combination of additional colors, a complex combination of additional colors and, finally, a combination of three colors.
In a monochromatic combination, darker and more light shades the same color, for example green. However, it is almost impossible to choose all the furniture, drapery fabrics, carpet, etc. in the same color, and in this case the room will look boring.
A simple combination of complementary colors combines two additional colors, say, red with green, blue with orange, purple with yellow. This is a very common combination: it is often used in fabrics with patterns, in the colors of carpets, etc. If necessary, the contrast is softened by adding a third, neutral color (for example, gray) to the combination.
In a complex combination of complementary colors, one of them is taken in two or more shades, for example, blue is combined not with pure orange, but with orange-red and orange-yellow, or, conversely, orange is combined with blue-green and blue-violet.
Combination of three different colors very interesting, but most difficult. The main thing here is that all three colors cannot be taken in equal quantities, one of them should predominate (walls or furniture upholstery), and the other two should be, as it were, an addition (carpet, curtains, chair upholstery).
