I have long promised a series of posts based on the post about. In the near future, we will just start going through the closet, putting away summer clothes on the back shelves with a sigh and hanging warm cardigans and woolen dresses on hangers, taking scarves, shawls and boots out of the depths. Therefore, it's time to start a conversation :-)

In the last post, many complained that there is not enough space, nothing fits, nowhere to put it, nothing to wear, everything is logical :-) And here our conversation can be made very short.

*suddenly in a scary voice* THROW OUT everything unnecessary and everything you don’t wear, and you will have a place even in your very small closet. And something tells me that at this point you will mentally send me to hell :-) Who will part with their dear, valuable, found by the sweat of their brow at a sale and torn from the hands of a competitor. I’m like that myself, I’ve been walking around the closet for a month now, and most importantly, I know very clearly that I need to throw it away or give it away, but my hand doesn’t rise. My treasures! :-) But we will discuss the topic of throwing away in detail, and today we’ll talk about how not to get completely bogged down in a pile of clothes and shoes, and how to organize it all. I searched the sites and found different ideas storage of things. I will also try to answer the questions that came up in that post. I won’t help with just one thing, money for new wardrobe And large apartment I wouldn’t lend it to you, I wish someone would give it to me :-)

Organize space, very big post with big amount pictures:

1. All things on hangers and at the same time, each on its own, in no case in layers - this, of course, is an ideal that is unattainable for many. But if there is such an opportunity, then it is better to hang everything, even tank tops. At the same time, it is good that the hangers are equally thin, this way you can save space. The only thing is jackets, it’s better to choose special hangers for them, otherwise things will lose their shape. There are some heavy knitted items that are best stored on a shelf to prevent them from stretching out, but they are in the minority. There are hangers like this, they save a little space in the closet, and at the same time things remain in sight.

Hangers and hooks for scarves and belts:

To prevent things from sliding off the hanger, you can glue the following tape:

If possible, hang a hanging rod in two rows, hang skirts, trousers, jeans on the lower rod, and blouses, tops, sweaters, cardigans on the upper rod. And sort it all by type of clothing, blouses to blouses, trousers to trousers. Plus, don’t forget to leave room for long items and don’t put a barbell underneath them: dresses, maxi skirts, coats, and raincoats will go here.

You can also sort by capsules, in one corner everything is for sports, in another - for the office, in the third - recreation, if there is a clear division of things into different categories, of course.

You can also sort by color, and I thought about this option for myself, but I realized that this would not help me much in choosing clothes in the morning. Moreover, in my closet there is a tendency to reduce the number of colors, I come to the conclusion that 2-3 basic and 2-3 bright colors in the closet - quite enough. It is not necessary for the closet to look like a rainbow. Still, there’s nothing to wear with half of it.

2. Pull-out shelves are very convenient. The main thing is not to put small things there, such as underwear and socks; when the shelf is pulled out, they will fall back onto the shelf at a lower level. I have three stacks of things on my shelf, two in front and one across the back, usually things for the next season in the back. That is, if it’s summer, then in front are T-shirts, tops, thin sweaters, T-shirts, and in the back are thicker sweaters, woolen items.

3. It’s better to fold laundry in drawers. Socks, tights, and knee socks can be stored in pull-out baskets. Immediately after washing, I sort the knee socks and socks and roll them into a ball in pairs, otherwise you won’t find them later; you can use the dividers, both built-in ones and those in the last two pictures from Ikea.

4. When space is really bad, it makes sense to completely remove things from the closet until the next fall-winter, for example, or spring-summer. You can put things in zippered drawers and put them under the bed.

The main thing is to understand what things you definitely won’t need. Down jackets, fur coats and other warm clothes can be safely put away for the summer, but a warm cardigan can come in handy on a cold summer evening, so it can be folded second row on the shelf.
They also save vacuum bags, they are good for storing things that are large or small, pregnant items, if you plan to return to them. You can also go there with something that is out of fashion; in 30 years your daughter or son will get it and it will be “vintage” for them :-)

5. Shoes can be stored in boxes, or in transparent ones so that you can see what’s in them, or you can paste photos onto regular boxes.

You can store it on shelves, but it doesn’t seem practical to me, and the sizes of shoes are different, and it’s not the best for boots. the best option, and not particularly hygienic, it’s better to put bags in such niches.

More options:

The shoes that are worn now are laid out in special cabinet for shoes in the hallway. Often in such closets there is space for one row of shoes; it is better to buy two at once.

Second option for a shoe cabinet:

Other options for the hallway:

Boot storage:
With this storage method, boots are likely to become deformed.

But from the “do it yourself” series. The picture below shows the inserts in boots made of wood. These metal pieces were then unscrewed from them at the base and a hook was screwed in:

And this is what happened:

6. It is better to make a closet right up to the ceiling, especially if there is not a lot of space in the room. You can always put summer/winter blankets on top, we store some shoes that are rarely needed, a picnic blanket, and small suitcases.

The ideal men's dressing room :-)

7. It would be nice to have a chest of drawers in addition to the closet. Pull-out shelves can be used for linen, jewelry, ties, scarves, scarves, socks and other small items that are constantly lost in the closet. By the way, a cute idea is to line the bottom of the drawers with gift paper.

8. It’s usually inconvenient and too lazy to bend over to the very bottom of the closet, so that’s where I keep bed sheets, towels, again boxes with shoes in a “thin layer” and some things that seem not quite in season, but may come in handy, just the case of a warm cardigan in summer time. You can also store various drawers and drawers with small items there.

9. Bags can be stored both outside and inside the closet. For example, you can hang something like this on external wall closet or inside. But this option is only suitable for bags that are used quite often (otherwise they will gather dust), and if the bags are fabric. Leather ones will quickly lose their shape and the handles will stretch, especially if the bag is heavy.

It is better to store bags on shelves, placing them vertically in a row, you can come up with dividers. I want to move all the bags into the hallway closet when we move. Because more than once it has happened that you seem to get dressed, put on your shoes and realize that you need another bag, but the bag is in the bedroom in the closet, and you no longer want to go get it. So, I think the place for shoes and bags is in the hallway, if space allows.

10. For things that have already been worn once, you can buy something like this.

I dream about tailor's mannequin to hang clothes on for the next day. This way I will have a view of the image from the outside, otherwise in the mirror it will be one thing, and then in the photo it will be something else. Have you noticed this?

You can collect outfits for several days in advance and hang them together; there are very interesting ones for this. design solutions outside the closet.

Options for children:

11. It’s good to use signs, pictures, signs, and hang photos of outfits on the closet doors to organize your space.

12. There is a mass creative solutions for storing jewelry:

13. If the closet is really small and there is still some space in the room, then you can use these storage options, in addition to the usual rod on wheels:

This is not the most convenient solution, but why not if there is simply no free wall for a closet in the room.

Pictures from websites.

Unfortunately, most Russians have too small apartment areas. In such situations, keep great amount It can be very difficult to keep the necessary things in order. Clutter makes the house uncomfortable and life in it uncomfortable. However, there is a way out.

Rooms

In bedrooms, living rooms and hallways, saving space is also the most important issue. Design ideas not only help to use space efficiently. They can be an excellent interior decoration.

A small sofa can be expanded into a comfortable bed. This may be useful for those who often have overnight guests.

Organizing additional lighting does not always require a lot of space. Enough instead of a floor lamp or table lamp use small lamps on brackets.

Even small balcony May be convenient place for work or lunches fresh air. It is enough to purchase a table that is attached to the railing.

Are you dreaming of a barbecue, but do you have too little space in your yard or garden? Pay attention to the interesting idea of a folding wall structure.

Designers successfully prove that a small apartment area is not a reason to worry. It is enough to be bolder, turn on your imagination, and all things will find their place. At the same time, the house will become cozy and unique.

Organization of space in the bathroom and bathroom

In a small separate bathroom there's no way around the toilet. Hanging a shelf there is unrealistic. But you can install a narrow compact chest of drawers for household chemicals, toilet paper, small items. Advice will do and for small bathrooms combined with a bathtub.

Despite the small area of the bathroom, you need to place a lot there. Therefore, the system of organizing things in this room is thought out especially carefully. Every centimeter of space and walls should work.

A nightstand is installed under the sink. It closes the drain pipe and household chemicals are placed in it. Shelves and cabinets are hung above the sink. Towels, cosmetics, body care products, and hygiene procedures are stored here.

    Display shelves above the sink

Washcloths, combs, shampoos, shower gels are placed in pockets sewn onto the curtain. To maintain its waterproofness, it is recommended to duplicate it - sew an additional curtain organizer.

    Kitchen

This room has long ceased to exist utility room in the house. Here they not only prepare food, but also hold joint tea parties, dine, and even receive guests. Neatness and neatness in the kitchen are extremely necessary.

    Lifehacks for food storage

Bulk products in bags take up a lot of space and spill out in cabinets and on the table.

Storing cereals in a sealed container will prevent insects from infesting the food and moisture from being absorbed. This will preserve their quality and increase their service life.

Store cereals in glass jars with metal lids screwed to the bottom surface of the shelf, convenient. Before use, unscrew the container and empty required quantity and screw it back into place.

Storing bulk products in glass jars with lids attached to the bottom surface of the shelves

Vegetables cannot be stored in the refrigerator unless there is a special compartment for this. It is not recommended to store them for a long time V plastic bags. In this case, it’s worth starting plastic boxes with air holes.

Plastic rack for vegetables and fruits

Place the containers in a rack, one box on top of another; a compartment is separated from the closet using drawers; push containers with vegetables under cutting tables, if there is space there; Mounted on cabinet doors under the sink.

    Ideas for storing kitchen utensils

Frying pans with long handles, pot lids, graters, devices for rolling out dough, mashed potatoes - items whose dimensions create storage problems. They don’t fit in drawers or lie in one place, creating chaos on tables and shelves. Other storage methods have been invented for such utensils.

    Methods for storing pot lids

It is impossible to stack pot lids. Storing them together with pots is a waste of precious space. Therefore, holders are installed on cabinet doors and walls. There are special designer meshes for lids. When stored this way, they take up minimal space and are always at hand.

Narrow sliding shelving in the kitchen

Frying pans with long handles are also hung on walls and cabinet doors. They equip narrow racks for them, sliding between tables, into openings between the refrigerator and the wall. Such racks are used for storing other kitchen utensils, conservation.

    Organize your closet

Socks in a closet drawer lose a pair, so they are folded into a ball, turning the edge of one over this structure. But in the drawer these shapeless rag pellets look like an untidy heap. When searching for the right pair, you have to rummage through a pile of socks, wasting time and getting terribly nervous.

An interesting idea is to make compact honeycomb organizers for socks from toilet paper rolls. They are placed vertically in the box. It is important that the bushings fit right next to each other and do not change position. They are connected to each other with tape and glue.

The Japanese discovered amazing method storage of things. Stacked according to Russian tradition, they do not wrinkle and take up little space, but it is difficult to quickly find the item you need. Therefore, you often have to sort through things in closets. The konmari method helps get rid of this problem.

Japanese method of storing things - konmari

Things are put into drawers, rolled up. Lay the rolls vertically (occupy less area) or horizontally (in a low box). It’s easy to find and get an item without moving the rest. Moreover, the order in the box is not disturbed after this.

Method of storing belts and belts

Belts, sashes, and ribbons are difficult to place. A tangled clump of them is intimidating when you need to find the right thing. Vertical racks for storing belts and belts will allow you to do this quickly, without wasting time and nerves.

There are “three pillars” of the science of storing things in a home: compactness, preservation of the quality of things, and ease of getting them out when necessary.

Observing simple rules By using your imagination and using lifehacks developed by others, you will be able to solve the problem of order in a house of even a small area.

No, not a purchase that goes straight to the trash bin. When you decide to bring into the house new thing, you need to make room for it. Sometimes this requires throwing something away. And don’t think that you have nothing to throw away. How many things do you have lying around in case “What if there’s a war tomorrow?” Will old boots help you in war? To add something new, you need to throw out the old. We've discussed how to get rid of junk many times.

Naturally, this does not apply to all situations. For example, if you moved to new apartment, it’s hard to get anything out of it. But, when your house is completely complete and you are going to buy something else, you need to think about the place for things. This is especially true for T-shirts, shoes and mugs. If your hands are reaching out to buy a new one, conduct an audit to throw one away.

Again, without fanaticism. There is no need to take jewelry to the pawnshop, and donate books to the library. Collections of things are good if you use them regularly and they have a separate place for storage.

2. Order starts in the corners

Organizing any home begins with organizing warehouses. Garage, basement, attic, storage room, mezzanine. Review what is in them and ruthlessly throw away everything that bothers you. A lot of space will be freed up. If you live in a small apartment, you need to periodically shake out drawers, cabinets and everything. dark corners, littered with things you don't use.

When thinking about the arrangement of things, move from the general to the specific, taking into account several levels of storage of things:

  • For general use. This has its own specifics, because crowds of people constantly pass through these places. And if everyone uses the same closet, someone will definitely ruin the order. That's why general systems storage should be the simplest and most convenient.
  • Personal space. Here, no matter how hard you try, unification will not help. Everyone will work in the way that suits them.
  • Small spaces. These are separate drawers and boxes, spaces under sinks. You can also arrange things in them in a separate order.

3. You can buy a closet, but you can’t buy order.

In the quest for good organization of space there is a trap that is easy to fall into while shopping. If you're looking at storage systems and are going to buy one with a million ergonomic shelves, you think it will solve all your problems.

You don’t think that just the fact of buying a simulator will force you to train every day?

Storage systems are a great solution, but you need to choose them based on the parameters of your home and your habits. And remember that the most cutting-edge projects will not put things back in place and take out the trash without your participation.

4. Number and number again

If you're well into your thirties and your job has nothing to do with technology, you may still only keep what you can hold in your hands. It's time to move things into virtual space.

You can't scan your skis and gear, but much of what fills your boxes can be digitized.

Again, we're not trying to change the fundamental position if you like the smell of the pages or the sound of the vinyl. But if you're not a collector, it's time to switch to e-books and cloud storage.

Scott Schiller/Flickr

Digitization will save you from deposits of documents and photographs in albums that will fit on HDD or to your folder in cloud storage.

5. Grouping - the beginning of order

When determining a place to store things, group them, put like with like. The more logical and simpler you can distribute objects into groups, the easier it will be to live with them and maintain order.

Organize items in your home by type and store them close to each other. You will definitely find items that cannot be classified in any way. So for them you will have a separate “Miscellaneous and Miscellaneous” box.

6. Your place

It is not enough to take into account how often an item is used and to which group it should be classified. Some things may have their own. Some things cannot be left in a damp room, some things cannot be left under sun rays, needed for something good ventilation. Find packaging for every item in your home that meets these requirements.

7. Without fanaticism

It's easy to go overboard when organizing the space in your home. Each nail does not need to be placed in a separate box if you only have five nails and two screws in the house. Too strict separation of groups of things leads to the fact that maintaining space in correct form It takes too much time and effort. Sorting mugs by color is already a sign of frustration, and not a love of order.

8. All moves are recorded

Do you want everything to be neat, safe and sound? Great. Do you have to rummage through all the drawers, boxes and shelves in search of one scarf? So-so prospect.

Now imagine that all supplies, for example toothpaste, are in the closet on the left side, and on the left door it is written: “ Toothpaste, soap, shower gel, shampoo.” The search is simplified - that's it. It’s more convenient to immediately put things back in their place after purchase - that’s two. Well, you always see when supplies of one thing are running low - that’s three.

It is necessary to label storage facilities, this is especially helpful when it comes to seasonal clothes and things long-term storage. If you've had a box under your bed for years with something very important, but you no longer remember what it was, take it out and write down what's inside.

9. Keep things where they can be useful

This seems like advice from Captain Obvious, but no one does it anyway. Keep your scarf collection close to front door, so that you can choose an accessory before going out, and put away the camping equipment that you last took out several years ago. This will make it easier to put things in their places.

The corollary of this rule is that things must move during the year between different rooms and shelves, depending on the season.

10. Everything is according to plan

Completing the five-year goal in a weekend sounds tempting. But you won't have time. Is it true, proper organization space is not done in two days, it needs to be thought about and introduced step by step.

Gaps in the ergonomics of the apartment appear gradually. Sometimes we don’t even see the mess until we get close to the place and try to find something there. Today you didn’t hang up your jacket because it’s inconvenient to hang it up; yesterday you spent half an hour searching the required document, which ended up in the wrong drawer, the day before yesterday they got a bump when they opened the closet door and got caught in a collapse of things. Solve problems as they arise. Make a plan for transforming your apartment (at least a year in advance, no one is rushing you) and do everything one by one.

Walk around the house from time to time with a pencil and notepad. Draw a floor plan and use a marker to mark the areas where debris accumulates the most and debris forms. Deal with them first.

11. View from the outside

If your sofa has been standing in one place for the last 10 years and every morning began with your little toe touching this very sofa, maybe it makes sense to change something in it?

Collect opinions. If you do not live alone, then other family members also have their own ideas about what should be kept and where.

You know, everyone has that friend whom you can come to at any time of the day and find that the house is perfectly clean? Ask him how he does it. Repeat.

Even if you are a minimalist, you still have a fairly large number of different things that need to be stored somewhere and somehow. This can be done with a creative approach, thanks to which you can not only clean up the house once and for all. Some ways of organizing order play not only functional role, but also serve as decor. We invite you to find out how to organize storage of things at home. The ideas described in this article can be implemented using purchased or homemade organizers. You can do the same at home, spending a minimum of money and time.

Storing things and clothes at home: ideas

Boxes, caskets - all this can be turned into a means of storage. The same organizers can be used to neatly organize office supplies, toys, linen, and shoes. For the latter case, it will be especially important to buy a special plastic organizer for storing things at home. The idea of using it is that the shoes do not gather dust, but at the same time they are clearly visible. Also, one such container can replace ten boxes. And the view will be much more aesthetically pleasing.

Try to make all organizers similar to each other or made in the same style. This is especially true for those that are not hidden behind cabinet doors.

We store underwear, socks, belts and other small items correctly

When we're talking about about organizing storage, then organizer boxes with compartments immediately come to mind. They can be made from different materials and contain one or another number of separators. The most common are fabric organizers that can be folded. These are sold in almost all hardware stores. But you can make a similar organizer from cardboard boxes.

Making an organizer

For this you will need empty packaging, cardboard and decor: colored and self-adhesive paper, wallpaper. Place boxes inside a drawer to organize your home storage. Ideas for arranging packages depend on their size and the proportions of the box. Glue all the boxes together. If you do not have ready-made boxes, then there are two options to solve the problem:

  • Measure the length and width of the storage box. Based on the dimensions, make the required number of boxes of the same height.
  • Make walls from cardboard that will be inserted into the box. Glue the bottom. Then make cardboard dividers.

Cover the finished organizer with colored paper, wallpaper or self-adhesive tape inside and out.

The storage space is ready! It can be used to organize underwear, socks, belts, jewelry, scarves, various accessories and so on. The main thing is that you will always have everything at hand and neatly laid out.

Cable storage organization

Even one person has several gadgets that are needed different cables. What can we say about a family of several people, where each person has at least one telephone and charger to him. There are also cables from cameras, tablets, laptops and computers, headphones and so on. If all this is stored in different places or in one box, but in a pile, then we cannot talk about proper storage of things at home.

Let’s look at ideas for a DIY organizer below:

THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay.

  • And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area
I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet.
