Technique for assembling a table lamp

To begin, take a tape measure, a marker, a pipe cutter, a rag, copper pipes and acetone.

Mark and cut the tubes

  • Use a measuring tape and marker to mark where you will cut the copper pipes.
  • Do this carefully, measuring every millimeter precisely, because if the parts are different, then the end result will not be the same size as they should be.

  • Guide the pipe cutter and use the nut to adjust the diameter of the pipe. Look along the copper tube, gradually readjust the diameter with the nut, so that the closure continues until the pipe is cut.
  • Afterwards, using acetone and a rag, you can wipe the markings off the pipe.

TIP: Our parts have: 3 x 15 cm cuts, 1 x 20 cm cut, 1 x 45 cm cut, 1 x 25 cm cut. We used 12 tubes. When designing your light fixture, please note that the copper elbow size will be added.

While the cable is inside, we connect the parts

Insert the parts together and glue super glue. In order to avoid problems in the future, it is better to glue each part and place it next to each other.

Even though the glue works instantly, you may want to wait a few minutes before proceeding to ensure that the pieces are glued together perfectly.

Tip: It will be more convenient to apply glue if you use a brush. If you want the cover to be at the very top, install it first. This way the first part will be ready, and the cable will go in a different direction.

  • Wire Stripper and Wire Stripper
  • Incisors
  • thin flat screwdriver
  • Phillips screwdriver

  • fork
  • electro chuck
  • switch

  1. Open front panel covers and start by stripping the insulation. Connect the ground ( blue) and phase (brown, gray or black) using the two screws you will find inside.
  2. Repeat the same process on the plug and switch.
  3. In the switch you will find two pairs of small screws, a cable that you must cut to the height you want the switch to be and connect to the corresponding sockets going inside the small screws.
  4. All you have to do is screw in the light bulb to create your copper table lamp.

Finally, place the lamp in a corner or place you like and see how it will become a wonderful addition to your interior, lighting up the space!

Master class: Table lampmade of paper

When I first saw the Robert Delta table lamp, it was love at first sight! The shape is amazing, it comes in different bright colors, everything I like. I was recently wondering since the accessories were surprisingly durable, why not use them for a lamp?

Here are all the materials used:

  • old lantern or lamp kit
  • template and thick cardboard or paper, you can take polypropylene sheets
  • glue and putty
  • sanding block (medium + fine)
  • wood block (add weight to base)

Tools:

  • art tapes
  • metal ruler/xacto knife
  • drill (can optionally replace xacto knife)

Lamp manufacturing technology

  • Firstly, print the template (6 pieces of each triangle) (1 of each hexagon).
  • Cut out the shapes so that they fit snugly on the board. Then use glue to attach the pieces to the back of the mat.
  • Using a metal ruler and Xacto knife cutting board, cut each shape.
  • Put them together.

  • Next, glue the bottom (shapes 2 + 4) to the base (shape 6). The triangles fit together nicely and if you did everything right they will just fall into place.

Then use small pieces artistic tape to attach them together and wait for the glue to dry completely.

TIP: Use super glue, it dries instantly (we used Aleene). Apply glue lightly, and wipe off excess.

  1. After gluing the bottom half (shapes 2 + 4 to the base, turn mold 6 upside down (open end down), place the square on a flat surface and let it dry overnight, this will help maintain its area.
  2. The next day, start working on the top of the lamp. Glue the shape 1 + 3, leaving a little hole to insert the lamp inside. The top one (form 5) was glued together with artistic tape, but it is not yet glued to form 1 + 3.
  3. Then reinforce the seams with glue on the inside.

Then start working on the base of the lamp.

The level at the bottom of the lamp needs to be made a little bigger, so cut some 1×4s to raise it a little. It will also add extra weight, giving it more stability. Use screws to attach the 1×4 to the existing metal base. (We swapped the existing rod with one from another lamp to get it to the correct height).

Next, drill a hole for the cord and insert a plastic sleeve from an old lamp. The lamp should be disassembled, and the cord and wire should be pulled through the threaded rod of the hole in the new base. Inside the lamp, glue it in the center.

At the top (shape 5), mark the center and drill a hole for the center rod. Then glue it in place.

  1. After applying the adhesive, remove excess, and if necessary, lightly, and apply a second layer after sanding.
  2. Using a medium-grit putty and fine sandpaper, finish with a sanding block. IN at the moment, you'll notice its sturdy base.

Once you've finished removing dust, apply paint! To cover top part threaded rod, use the top of an old lamp - it just slides over the rod. Then return it back to the nest!

That's it, your handmade table lamp is ready.

Bottle table lamp

Tin can lamp

This lamp is perfect for a home desk, both for students and schoolchildren. Boys will especially appreciate it; it looks more like a transformer and a robot from the future. You can paint or decorate the jar itself with paper, thread, or make it more embossed. How correct.

Table lamp made from plastic bottles

Plastic bottles can always be found around the household, so decorating an old table lamp is not difficult. Usually, when restoring old lamps, the bases are left and plastic is used for the lampshade. The lampshade mount is usually used as an old one. When working with plastic bottles, remember that they are easier to cut paper knife or construction knife. Glue is used for rubber or special glue for plastic.

Table lamp made of branches and slices

Wood in the interior is always a classic - it is always fashionable and relevant. By decorating a table lamp with a cut of wood or an old piece of driftwood with your own hands, you will get designer item which simply has no price.

  1. To do this, we need to select any piece of wood we like, process it correctly namely, dry it, apply impregnation against pests and cover it with varnish.
  2. The second stage is to mount the top of an old floor lamp into the base. If this is not the case, it doesn’t matter; light supply stores usually sell bases for lampshades.

Other original ideas

The basis for a table lamp can be, in principle, any item you don’t need: these are children’s toys, sewing machines, unnecessary socks and so on. Experiment and create beauty!

You always want to decorate your home, and when you have the funds for this, then you can buy designer items. But any exclusive thing is first made by the hands of a master, and then can only be made by hand.

Well, if one person has already done it, then we can repeat it. So, I suggest not spending money on goods in the store, but making a chandelier with your own hands and thereby creating a unique flavor in your home.

I have several friends who, horrified by the price tags in the store for lighting fixtures, created a chandelier themselves. And it turned out beautifully. A friend created a lamp for the nursery from threads, and a friend created two lighting fixtures from wooden planks. And you won’t immediately realize that it’s handmade; it looks quite original and interesting.

But masterpieces can be created from absolutely anything, even from trash.

Have you seen how in famous TV shows they create lamps from broken saucers or spoons and forks, or even from graters?

It’s absurd, but even if you can make something digestible out of this, then, using your imagination and choosing nicer materials, you can do everything yourself.

I found a few ideas that I also liked, but I’ll express my opinion a little later.

Ideas from scrap materials

Still, many people are given the ability to see beauty in their surroundings. Just think what craftsmen make from wire, paper, or even a sewer pipe.

Paper also makes masterpieces, such as circles of white paper or butterflies. And everything is done simply.

Many identical paper blanks are made and sewn together.

And then attached to the frame.

Here are the results of this technology for making a paper chandelier in the photo, borrowed from Facebook. But here the blanks are not sewn together, but glued together. I think that sewn ones look neater.

Well, if you have a tea set lying around, then you can also build beautiful lamp to the dacha.

The main thing here is to carefully cut out the bottom of the cups so that they do not crack or burst.

Chandelier made of wood and wooden planks

But with the help of wooden boards you can make a very modern and beautiful chandelier. After all, the texture of the wood is very noble and looks interesting in different color combinations.

You can simply coat the block with oil, which will give it a shade of honey with beautiful natural veins, or you can paint it in wenge color. The main thing is to varnish it to make caring for the chandelier more convenient.

We will need:

  • Eight blocks
  • Wood oil or varnish,
  • A couple of cartridges
  • Frosted glass.

We take our bars, cover them with oil and varnish and let them dry.

We assemble the blanks and fasten them with bolts.

We secure the cartridges and hide the cord.

Insert on the front side frosted glass and hang it by screwing in the light bulbs in advance.

The light is diffused and soft.

Not everyone knows where to get frosted glass, so this version of the chandelier can be made lighter.

For example, by attaching ceiling lights to the frame. As in the photo.

Well, for a snack there is also the option of a chandelier, which, by the way, is also made by hand!

So don't say it's not possible and beautiful thing It cannot be done at home. I assure you otherwise.

Making a lamp from plastic bottles

Plastic bottle and disposable tableware can also transform into a wonderful chandelier. The main thing is to show a little imagination. But the designers have already done a lot for us, so I’m presenting an option for a master class in making it from plastic.

We will need:

  • Three liter bottle
  • Plastic disposable spoons,
  • Cartridge,
  • Energy saving lamp,
  • Glue gun.

We will make the frame of the chandelier from a bottle, cutting off its base to create a hole at the bottom.

Now we are making a lot of blanks, for this we cut off the stem of the spoon, we will use only its base.

And on glue gun We begin to glue the base of the spoons to the bottle.

You need to start from the bottom. Each subsequent layer removes all the sloppiness of the bottom one.

Once you've collected layer by layer, then it's the cartridge's turn.

We only insert into it energy saving light bulb so that the plastic does not melt.

And we hang it from the ceiling.

You can use only plastic bottoms from containers for the chandelier, fastening them together, as shown in the photo.

And it’s better when all the bottles are the same color and transparent.

Can you imagine using plastic plates to create beauty? The only negative is that such a chandelier will not provide enough light and it will be difficult for it to illuminate a fifteen-square room.

This is an option for non-primary lighting or for use in small rooms.

A ball of thread for a children's room (step-by-step instructions)

But it is also possible to decorate and illuminate a children's room with a homemade chandelier made from natural material- from threads or rope. Well, I’m still for environmental friendliness.

We will need:

  • Threads,
  • Needle,
  • Petrolatum,
  • PVA glue,
  • Balloon,
  • Ceiling lamp.

First, inflate a balloon of the required size and tie it.

After that, we make a small hole in the bottle with glue with a knife, thread it into the needle and pierce the bottle with glue with it and bring it out into the hole. This way our thread will be completely wet with glue.

And we begin to wind the adhesive thread around the ball until it becomes as tight as you would like.

Now you need to dry the glue, so hang the ball and leave it for twelve hours.

After drying, you need to take a needle and pierce the ball. It will either begin to deflate or burst.

We take the cartridge and trace its dimensions on the lampshade with a marker, cut out a hole with scissors. And at the bottom we also make a hole for further connection of the lamp.

But you can wrap the cartridge with wire or hem it with thread.

By the way, you can use the same technology to create square lamps and lampshades.

You will need all the same materials, but instead of thread we use a tourniquet.

  1. Selecting a box required size, we tighten it cling film and with a rope dipped in glue, we tighten the box in any order to the desired density.
  2. This design takes a day to dry. After the rope acquires its color, we begin to pull out the box from below.
  3. Now we insert the lampshade into the holder and hang it from the ceiling.

To make a chandelier, both cardboard and water hose, but everywhere you need time and imagination.

Here are some cardboard ideas.

I really liked many of the options, but I still prefer clear glass in the chandelier. Took it off, washed it and got a lot of light. But you need to work with glass skillfully, that’s why I didn’t write the manufacturing process here complex option lighting device.

A wooden options add color to interiors rustic style or .

I'm always amazed at how creative people can be! I myself have no illusions about my abilities to transform old things, but I can appreciate the work of others. The main danger of any handmade is that you can create an interior Frankenstein that will be scary to look at, but you won’t even dare to throw it away, because you have invested so much time and mental energy into it... So, here you need to be objective: homemade things can be stylish or they can be bad. Here it is important to soberly evaluate the result and understand whether it decorates your interior or not. You can make it yourself, or you can buy ready-made ones. True, such a chandelier made of silver spoons will cost a quarter of a million rubles. In my opinion design option can serve as inspiration.

Plastic spoons

Very simple and budget option lamp for which you will need a base, a light bulb, a glue gun and big package disposable spoons that will have to be dissected. If you paint the resulting creation yellow, you will get a pineapple, if you paint it brown, you will get a pine cone, and if you leave it white, it will glow the brightest.

Grater

Another option that encourages you to look around your kitchen with interest and attention in search of things for creativity. Habitual kitchen grater, as we already told you, can be an excellent stand for jewelry, and it also casts such beautiful reflections of light!!! The lamp made from a grater is genius, and the way it looks in combination with wood and plants is a perfectionist's paradise.

Tubes

A strange, unusual and definitely very creative lamp made from colored cocktail straws. It is necessary to cut the long tubes into several parts and attach them to the lampshade base with glue.

Globes

You have already graduated from school a long time ago and, perhaps, even traveled half the world, and the globe is still standing somewhere on your shelf without use? Make a lamp out of it! Making a New Year's chandelier with your own hands

How to make a New Year's chandelier with your own hands to surprise your friends with your suddenly discovered talent?

To make a chandelier we take:

  • Organic glass or thin wooden sheet.
  • Linen rope.
  • Multi-colored balls.
  • Small stapler.
  • We use glass parts left over from an old chandelier.

Description of the manufacturing principle.

We start by cutting a square from plexiglass, the dimensions of which are 50:50 cm. We make holes every 5 centimeters throughout the entire area, as chaotically as possible. We take a linen thread and thread it through the water hole and out into another, adjacent one. The length of the extended ends should be two meters. Let's do it this procedure until we fill all the holes in the square.

We hang this composition instead of a chandelier on the ceiling and continue to decorate the chandelier as christmas tree. We take the balls and tie nylon threads of different lengths to them, and tie them to the structure, concentrating them in the central part. Next we perform the same operation with glass products, but we hang them already at the edges, the length of the thread should be less than on the balls. If you look at the structure as a whole, it will look like an inverted pyramid.

Now you know how to make a New Year's chandelier with your own hands. Start your crafts right now and you won't stop with the chandelier.

IN lately Decorations for chandeliers such as thread wrapping have become very fashionable.

Description of the manufacturing principle.

We will need a lot of thread and PVA glue, as well as an inflatable ball. Cotton threads are perfect for our project, since the glue applies evenly to them and behaves obediently.

Wrapping inflated balloon threads, apply glue and wait until it dries. Then we simply pop the ball with a needle. Cut a hole on top for the light bulb and you're done. Your result can be compared with the DIY chandelier in the photo.

IN in this example The thread can be completely replaced with lace and you will get a good kitchen lamp.

Instead of a ball, you can use other shapes, such as a juice bag. Choose a sconce online that you like and use the appropriate mold.

Another way in which you can make a wonderful chandelier with your own hands from improvised materials.

If you happen to have embroidery hoops lying around at home, don’t miss out on the opportunity to make a great lamp out of them. The basis here will be the hoop and wire, they will give your lamp the shape you want. You can stretch fabric over the frame or use a hanger. An unobtrusive New Year's garland can serve as an excellent decoration if you attach it in inside lamp If you make not just one such lamp, but several, then in combination they can give your bedroom a completely new and fresh look.

THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay. And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet. I wish you good luck and stay safe in Asia.

  • It’s also nice that eBay’s attempts to Russify the interface for users from Russia and the CIS countries have begun to bear fruit. After all, the overwhelming majority of citizens of the countries of the former USSR do not have strong knowledge of foreign languages. No more than 5% of the population speak English. There are more among young people. Therefore, at least the interface is in Russian - this is a big help for online shopping on this trading platform. eBay did not follow the path of its Chinese counterpart Aliexpress, where a machine (very clumsy and incomprehensible, sometimes causing laughter) translation of product descriptions is performed. I hope that at a more advanced stage of development of artificial intelligence, high-quality machine translation from any language to any in a matter of seconds will become a reality.
