Kitchen stoves Mora. General features and gas models

The modern market is replete with inexpensive cookstoves aimed at the less demanding consumer. Among such manufacturers, not the last place is occupied by the Czech company Moravia and its products under the Mora brand.

The company is not as big and famous as the Italian Indesit or the German AEG, but it has its own rich history. Which can shed light on the level of the brand.

Almost two hundred years of history

Mora Moravia dates its history back to 1825, when entrepreneur Josef Zverina, a resident of the Moravian town of Marianske Udoli (present-day Czech Republic), then part of Austria-Hungary, received a patent to trade in metal products. The region was metallurgical, and things quickly went uphill.

But then a series of ups and downs led to frequent changes in both products (from nails to cast iron hatches) and owners (at one time there were even Rothschilds among the shareholders).

At the end of the 19th century, the company began producing indoor fireplaces and stoves, and this direction turned out to be so successful that soon the production of kitchen stoves became the main business of an already steadily thriving enterprise.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Mora Moravia became one of the European leaders in the production of slabs. And throughout its history, it has sold over 13 million of them, more than half of which were exported. And the Meteor model turned out to be phenomenally successful; in just ten years more than a million units were sold!

In socialist Czechoslovakia, the company Mora Moravia turned into a large diversified engineering association, which included many enterprises.

In the post-socialist Czech Republic, the association was privatized, and in 2004 it merged with the famous Slovenian Gorenje Group. At the same time, Mora Moravia formed a holding company consisting of several independent companies producing cooking, heating and even aerospace equipment.

We’ll talk about space some other time, but today we’re introducing the wonderful Mora cookers.

In total, Mora Moravia offers Russian customers over three dozen gas, combination and electric cookers. The choice, as you can see, is rich. Let's choose!

Sisterly traits

Externally, these slabs are not very different from each other; their design is very simple and unremarkable, but quite modern and attractive. Oddly enough, they all have the same dimensional standard - 85x50x60 cm. That is, there are no 50x50, 55x55 or even 60x60 models, which are usually present in the product portfolio of any large company that produces kitchen stoves.

But they have three color options. The predominant color, of course, is white, which is the basic color for any manufacturer of large kitchen appliances, giving the letter W at the end of the alphanumeric model designation code. But there are devices in brown (BR) and stainless steel (X).

Each stove, with the exception of glass-ceramic ones, has an enameled metal hob lid (in some cases, made of impact-resistant glass).

An oven with a volume of 55 liters (three special models have 52) in the case of gas devices is necessarily equipped with a gas control, which interrupts the gas supply if the flame suddenly goes out for some reason. The ovens are locked with a double glass door and coated on the inside with heat-resistant enamel for easy cleaning.

In general, these ovens are designed in a simple way: only three levels of stamped guides (only one model has them removable), a wire grid and at least one baking sheet are included in the kit.

All stoves certainly have a drawer at the very bottom for utensils and accessories; the only difference is in its design - a simple hinged door (for some of the cheapest models) or a pull-out container.

All stoves are equipped with adjustable legs.

Gas stoves

There are eleven models in this group, and if we discard the color differences and the difference in the material from which the hob lids are made (enamelled steel or impact-resistant glass) as irrelevant, seven remain. Which is also a lot and presupposes the presence of a wide choice that needs to be sorted out somehow.

All plates have a common technical base from which modifications are based. Mora requires four burners on the hob, one of them with a power of 1 kW, another with a power of 2.7 kW, plus two with a power of 1.75 kW. With one exception, all have some form of electric burner ignition. The hob must have a light enameled grate.

And now a tale about the features of each model.

The simplest model in this series is. It has virtually nothing beyond the basic set of technical tools and functions described above.

Moreover, there is not even electric ignition of the burners, which is present in other stoves. Except that they add a thermometer on the oven door, which is rare for Mora appliances.

So, we have completed our acquaintance with Mora gas stoves. However, the model range of this brand is not exhausted. Ahead of us is waiting.

Basic principles of working with a gas stove:

  1. It would be optimal to ventilate the room each time before lighting the burners.
  2. The gas valve on the hose connecting to the gas pipeline must be open only when using the device.
  3. If the stove does not have electric ignition, then light the match before opening the burner tap handle. The use of electric and silicon lighters is undesirable. A stove with electric ignition solves this problem - the fire ignites automatically.
  4. If the burner burns unevenly or the flame jumps inside the burner, you should turn it off and wait a couple of minutes. Then try to light it again. You should not try to correct the position of the burner yourself. In normal condition, with medium and full heat, the flame of the burner should be evenly distributed among the divisions, in a bluish-green color, the height of the reeds should be about 2-2.5 cm. First, you should light the burner at full power, and then adjust the height with the handle.
  5. The flame does not burn normally if:
    • Smoky, yellow in color, the smell of carbon monoxide can be heard, which is dangerous to life - lack of air in the system;
    • The flame seems to hover above the burner, producing a noise similar to hissing and whistling - due to excess air in the system.

    In both cases, it is strictly forbidden to solve the problem yourself. You need to contact the gas distribution system to call a technician. He must fix the problem with the in-house gas equipment.

  6. Before using the oven, be sure to ventilate it by opening and closing the oven door several times.
  7. You need to ignite the oven burner through a special hole, simultaneously opening the burner tap and bringing an open flame to the hole. Check that the gas is burning around the entire perimeter of the burner.
  8. To turn off the stove, you first need to close all the valves on the burners and oven, and then close the tap on the gas pipeline leading to the stove. This safety precaution is necessary when using any gas stove.

What not to do

Given the high level of danger when working with gas, precautions should not be neglected. You must follow all safety precautions if your stove is gas. The instructions prohibit:

  • use the stove with unchecked ventilation ducts;
  • use a device with a thermal indicator that is known to be faulty or not securely fastened;
  • use a device with obvious mechanical damage, damage to the table lattice, which may cause instability of the dishes;
  • Use an oven that does not have a locking door.

Moreover, it is prohibited to use a kitchen gas stove as a heating device, to clutter the approach to gas equipment with any foreign objects, to change the position of the stove independently and without permission, to carry out any repairs independently, and to use cookware with a wide bottom on burners with low sides.

Manufacturers

These instructions are suitable for most modern gas stoves. It does not include technological features inherent in some models, but completely regulates the basic operation of a gas stove. In particular, you can work on it with slabs from the following companies:

  • Gefest (Hephaestus) 3100, 1100;
  • Darina 1401, 1457;
  • Mora (Mora);
  • Electa;
  • Russian;
  • Idel;
  • Brest 03, 1457 01;
  • Dako Diplomata (Dako Diplomata);
  • Eyelid (Beko);
  • Ardo (Ardo);
  • Carpathians 12, 17;
  • Kaiser (Kaiser);
  • Omichka;
  • Greta (Greta);
  • De luxe Evolution (Deluxe evolution);
  • Indesit (Indesit);
  • Hansa (Hansa);
  • Gorenje (Gorenje);
  • Zanussi (Zanussi);
  • Ariston (Ariston);
  • Electrolux (Electrolux);
  • Nord (Nord).

In order to determine the temperature in the oven or in the oven by divisions, its instructions are mainly used. Each equipment that uses gas comes with an instruction manual. The instructions indicate the maximum temperature of the oven itself and indicate the correspondence of the division scale to the temperature in Celsius (°C). These ovens have switch knobs with a scale of division into numbers. The number of divisions and maximum temperature are different for all models. Some ovens may have 6, 7, 8 or 9 divisions. But how to determine the temperature in them. Ovens can have switches not only for gas ovens, but also for electric ovens. After all, not all models have an electronic display.

The oven has its own specific maximum temperature. It is different for all models. Also, the maximum temperature differs for both electric and gas ovens. Gas ovens generally have lower temperatures than electric ovens. For example, the maximum temperature electric oven can reach 290 degrees Celsius, and gas- up to 250 degrees Celsius.

Many people have had gas ovens for a long time; some were left behind by their parents, while others were given as gifts. But there may not be instructions for the oven. We are about to prepare a dish, but we don’t know how to turn the switch or what number to set. What temperature does it correspond to? For this, there is an approximate correspondence of division to temperature.

On the oven, instead of degrees, numbers from 1 to *, temperature table

If there are 9 divisions in a gas oven, and the maximum reaches 280 degrees Celsius, then:

If there are 8 divisions in a gas oven, and the maximum reaches 280 degrees Celsius, then:

If there are 8 divisions in a gas oven, and the maximum reaches 250 degrees Celsius, then:

If there are 7 divisions in a gas oven, and the maximum reaches 250 degrees Celsius, then:

If there are 5 divisions in a gas oven, and the maximum reaches 266 degrees Celsius, then:

There are also gas stoves with an oven with 4 divisions, but I could not find how many in degrees, since the maximum heating of the oven is also not indicated in the instructions.

If an electric oven has 7 divisions and the maximum reaches 250 degrees Celsius, then:

Compliance data is approximate. The exact temperature can be found using the built-in thermometer, designed to determine temperature.

    THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

        What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay.

  • And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area
    I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet.
