One of the main elements of interior decor is a chandelier. With its appearance it gives the room a special zest and style, and with its lighting it will create coziness, mood and harmony.

Today there are many different chandeliers, but not everyone can choose something of their own... Don’t be disappointed, because you can create such an important decorative element yourself... For example, you can make a chandelier with your own hands from plastic bottles!

The process of creating a chandelier is very simple; it will only require a little time, perseverance and imagination.

Tools and materials for making a chandelier from plastic bottles:

- plastic 5l. bottle;
- plastic 2l. bottles;
- wire;
- stationery knife or scissors;
- transparent glue;
- tweezers;
- candle;
- decorative decoration.

To start with 5l. The bottle neck is carefully cut off.

Then cut off the bottom.

The height of the chandelier can be very varied, it depends on everyone’s preferences.
Afterwards, we got a blank chandelier.

Their sizes also depend on everyone’s preferences; in this case, the pieces turned out to be on average 3-4 cm. Thanks to the varied color palette of plastic bottles, with the shade of a chandelier, as well as their combination, you can safely experiment...

After the 2-liter plastic bottles have turned into quite a bunch of particles, they need to be given a unique shape using a candle. To do this, take one plastic piece with tweezers and hold it over a burning candle.

As a result of deformation, you will get a nice curved particle.

The bottom edge of the product can also be held slightly over the candle, as a result of which it will also turn out wavy, which looks very nice!

Then, you need to glue the resulting deformed plastic pieces onto the surface of the chandelier. The glue must be transparent! It is applied in strips to a small area of the chandelier.

After which, wavy particles are attached to it.

They should be glued quite tightly for a more expressive and “lush” effect. The result is a very beautiful “airy” surface...

And when the lighting is on, they shimmer great!

After all the pieces of plastic are glued to the craft, you need to attach a socket with a light bulb.

You can also decorate the craft with some small decorative element, for example, a butterfly made from a plastic bottle.

That's all, the original “airy” chandelier made from plastic bottles is ready!

The final look of the craft. Photo 1.

The final look of the craft. Photo 2.

It looks great in natural light and sunlight, and when the (artificial) lighting is on, it will give the room some kind of glare and a pleasant, dim light. This extraordinary chandelier will be a great addition to the interior of your room!

Decorating a home is a complex and responsible task that you can handle on your own. The peculiarity is that some interior items can be created with your own hands. Thus, lamps are integral interior items that are used to illuminate the room as a whole or a separate area. The store offers a wide range of such products. How to make a chandelier (master class!)

The main lighting fixture of the house is the chandelier. You can make it from an ordinary glass bottle. The main thing is that it will be exclusive.

To create such beauty you will need:

  • bottles (size and quantity depends on the preferences of the owners);
  • protective equipment (goggles, mask and gloves);
  • glass cutter and sandpaper;
  • screwdriver and wire.

Having the necessary tools and materials at hand, you can begin the actual production of the chandelier:

1. Soak the bottle in water . This will make it easy to remove labels and debris. After cleaning, the container must be thoroughly dried.

We wash bottles and remove labels

2. Make a bottle cut . The glass cutter is installed at the required level. Cutting is carried out slowly, which will allow you to get an even cut line. When working with a cutter, you must wear protective clothing only. If you don’t have the necessary tool at hand, cutting a glass bottle can easily be done with thread. The video below clearly demonstrates this.

We cut the bottle

3. Now the bottle is placed under the tap . Turn on the hot water and keep the workpiece under it. Hot water is alternated with cold. As a result of sudden temperature changes, the unnecessary piece will fall off exactly along the cut line.

Processing glass under water

4. The cut area is being processed sandpaper. The cut should be even and smooth.

Sand the edges with sandpaper

5. Using a screwdriver the lamp is disassembled. The wire must be carefully pulled out and passed through the neck, put the lamp back together and check its operation.

We stretch the wire through the bottle

6. All that remains is to decorate the lighting fixture. For this, ordinary wire is used. Starting from the neck, we wrap it around the bottle. Any material is used for this. This can be regular black or colored wire.

Decorating the bottle

The chandelier pendant is ready. All that remains is to install it. If desired, the product can be painted and given any design. The main thing is that it blends organically with the interior of the room.

A good solution would be to use glass stone. It should be taken into account that the light transmittance of the product will decrease slightly. Stones of various shades are used for decoration. You can combine several shades. The main thing is that the lamp looks organic.

Bottle decor with glass stones

The stones are attached to the glass using glue. The lamp can only be used after it has completely dried. This will take no more than a day. Complete drying of the glue will ensure reliable adhesion of the stone to the surface. It is better to use an adhesive composition that can withstand temperature changes.

  2. Place the bottle on an old towel and drill a hole for the wire. Drilling is carried out using a diamond drill. The work is carried out wearing protective equipment.
  3. Soak the finished bottle in water and remove all stickers and dirt.
  4. A wire is passed through the hole and pulled to the neck. At the output it is connected to the cartridge.
  5. Secure the socket and lampshade to the neck.

Work process

A homemade table lamp from a glass bottle is ready. All that remains is to check it in action. If desired, the product can be decorated and decorated. Plastic lamp (MK)

Plastic bottles are also widely used to make lamps. The peculiarity of this product is its ease of fastening and lightness. It’s easy to make such a lamp from plastic bottles with your own hands. Today, there are several technologies that are used to create original lighting devices. Let's start with a simple method.

To make a lamp you will need:

  • 5 liter plastic bottle;
  • stationery knife;
  • glue;
  • disposable spoons.

Manufacturing process:

1. Using a knife the bottom is cut off. The cut should be smooth. This will make decorating easier in the future.

There are other options for making a lamp from bottles with your own hands. Bottle bottoms would be a good option. They look like 5-leaf flowers. The blanks are fastened together with nylon thread or rope. For this, bottles of various colors are used. The main thing is that the product looks organic and fits easily into the interior of the room.

Bottle bottoms as lamp decor

Plastic bottles can be used to make shades for table and floor lamps. Using a stationery knife, the bottoms are cut off and fastened together with nylon thread. The result should be a ball with a hole for the cartridge. Finally, the joints are carefully sealed with silicone. This will close all the cracks. Lampshades are made in various shades. This will allow you to create a lighting device and decorate your home with it.

In the modern world you cannot do without lighting. But store-bought lamps do not always fit the home designer’s ideas. Available materials will help solve the problem. Without any special material investments, wine and plastic bottles can make a beautiful and original lamp for any room. It will help make the interior unique.

Kinds

First you need to remember that lamps are divided into several types:

  • desktop;
  • floor;
  • ceiling;
  • wall;
  • street;
  • portable.

Some lamps are powered by electricity, so you will have to provide a cord connection to the lamp. Some lamps will run on batteries. Lighting devices in the country can be powered by solar panels. And to create romance, you can use candles.

In addition, light bulbs for lamps are also different. And before manufacturing an electrical appliance, you should consider the issue of safety. Regular incandescent lamps get very hot, which means they should not be used near a plastic lampshade.

Safer are LED lamps or strips, fluorescent lamps, fluorescent and neon lamps.

Tabletop

Since the glass bottle is stable, it is often used as a leg. The main problem with such lamps is connecting the cord to the bulb. There are several ways to do this.

Hole on the wall

Close to the base on the wall of the bottle you can make a hole for the cord to come out.

Before starting work, you need to clean and dry the bottle and mark the location for the hole. For further work you will need a small amount of water, a piece of clay, a drill and a drill with a diamond bit. You need to stick clay to the location of the future hole. As you drill, you need to gradually pour water onto the clay so that the drill and bottle do not overheat.

When the hole appears, remove the clay, sand the edge and wash the bottle again. After complete drying, a cord is pulled inside to which the cartridge will be connected. The plug is attached to the other end of the cord and remains “outside”.

You can place small multi-colored pebbles or garlands in a transparent bottle. This will hide the cord.

A socket is attached to the wire on top and the light bulb is screwed in. A homemade or ready-made frame for the lampshade is installed on the neck of the bottle.

Removing the bottom with thread

You will need wool or natural twine. The thread is generously moistened with alcohol or gasoline. It needs to be wrapped in 2-3 layers around the bottle in the place where the cut should be. For further actions you need a small container with cold water.

The bottle with the alcohol-soaked thread is picked up in a horizontal position. The thread is set on fire, and the bottle is rotated around its own axis so that the combustion is slow. As soon as the thread burns out, the bottle must be sharply lowered into water. Temperature changes will cause the glass to crack. But it doesn't always work out the first time.

The edge is sanded. A cord is placed inside the bottom of the bottle with an outlet through the neck, a Christmas tree garland is beautifully placed over the entire volume of the bottle, or you can put a low lamp for which the bottle will serve as a lampshade.

In all cases, the cord should be flat and thin so that the bottle sits securely on the table.

From under the lampshade

The third option for supplying electricity is the simplest, but not always aesthetically pleasing. The lamp wire does not get inside at all. A lampshade is attached to the neck, which hides the light bulb socket and wire. Thus, the cord comes directly from under the lampshade.

Lampshades are often made from plastic bottles.

Floor

Since a floor lamp is often a tall thing, additional materials will be needed: wood, wire, metal fittings.

Palm lamps are brown plastic bottles mounted on a metal pole. The base will be a cross, decorated with “grass” made of green plastic. Palm leaves are cut from it. Glass beer bottles in the form of barrels, inside of which small LED lamps are placed, can act as coconut lamps.

But a floor lamp can be just a floor lamp. Several plastic bottles need to be cut in half. Bells are cut out from the top part. You need to pass a white Christmas tree garland or LED strip through the neck and place the structure on the floor, bending it in a bizarre shape. Such a lamp will provide diffused light and decorate the living room. You can also make a garland or floor lamp from bottles.

When creating such a decor, the lamp can be coated with acrylic paint or colored plastic can be used.

Chandeliers

In a large room, a wooden pendant lamp with glass bottles that are inserted into the holes of the wooden frame will look great. You will need several wine bottles of dark or multi-colored glass. A socket with a light bulb and an output wire is placed inside each one. The entire structure is powered by one or more switches.

Glass bottles can be cut in half and the top half used. The cord is pulled from the chandelier through the hole and a socket with a light bulb is attached.

Such a lampshade for a chandelier will look even more interesting if the bottles are cut at an angle.

And if you can choose them in the same color scheme, for example, yellow-orange-green, then it will be a very beautiful chandelier. A multi-arm chandelier can be built in the form of a ball or trapezoid.

But the lower part of glass bottles can be used in the form of glasses. You just need to melt the top edge with a burner - and the glass is ready. By the way, it can be used as a candlestick.

Ideas for creating a chandelier

But the ceiling lamp can also be made of plastic. Here are some ideas.

To implement an interesting option you will need:

  • five-liter canister;
  • a large number of disposable spoons;
  • stationery knife;
  • hot glue gun (or liquid nails).

The bottom of a five-liter container is cut off. The handles of all spoons are cut off, leaving approximately 1.5 cm. Starting from the bottom row, the spoons are glued tightly to each other around the container. The next, higher row is glued so as to create the effect of scales. This way the bottle is completely covered.

The neck can be decorated with the same spoons or using parts from an old chandelier. From below, a wire with a mounted socket is threaded through the neck of the bottle. All that remains is to connect the structure to the ceiling.

A lampshade for a chandelier can be made either single from a large container, or with 2-4 arms from smaller bottles. For this you will need:

  • bottle(s);
  • twine or colored thick threads;
  • PVA glue;
  • brush;
  • acrylic paints;
  • furniture varnish;
  • stationery knife.

The light bulb will be attached under the neck. We decide on the length of the lampshade. Cut off the bottom of the plastic. The top of the container should be coated generously with glue and immediately wrapped tightly with twine. After the glue has completely dried, the twine can be painted with acrylic paints and varnished. But using colored threads, you don’t have to paint the lampshade. If the threads are wool, then you don’t need to varnish them either.

Another idea - and again, for one or more lampshades. You will need:

  • bottle(s);
  • hot glue;
  • glass pebbles of different colors;
  • stationery knife.

The bottom of the container is cut off. The entire bottle is covered with stones. After about a day, you can install the cartridge and attach the lampshade to the ceiling.

When making several of these lampshades, they can be hung at different levels.

Wall sconces

If the lampshade of an old sconce is broken, it can be made from plastic bottles. To do this, you need to cut a large number of leaves of yellow, green, orange. Using wire, leaves are braided around the lamp. Pleasant diffused light will appear in the room.

For a room in an oriental style, a Chinese lantern above the bed is suitable.

  1. To do this, a flat plastic bottle needs to be cut from the neck to the bottom into very thin strips.
  2. You should pull the wire through the strips by hand from the bottom to the neck. The wire is secured in such a way that the bottle becomes significantly lower than its height. The strips turned the container into a flashlight.
  3. All that remains is to install the socket with an energy-saving light bulb through the strips and bring the wire out through the neck.
  4. All you need to do is attach a beautiful hook to the wall and hang the wire on it, extending it to the outlet. The wall lamp is ready.

Street lights

You can make beautiful and unusual lighting with your own hands for a gazebo in your garden.

To do this, you will need a large dark glass bottle with a hole along the length, approximately 2/3 of the way. Moreover, the hole may have uneven edges.

The bottle should be placed sideways in a decorative container filled with river sand. A socket with a cone-shaped light bulb is placed horizontally inside the bottle.

Using shells, old coins, starfish, artificial algae, and shiny elements, the bottle is decorated in such a way that both sand and small objects are inside the container. The bottle itself also needs to be partially buried in the sand.

The wire to the socket is passed through the tabletop. This lamp will remind you of the sea and adventures. And if you also decorate the gazebo with a fishing net, the neighbors will be jealous!

But if there is no electricity at the dacha, they will help out with candles. Ordinary thick candles should be covered on top with a glass colored bottle without a bottom. This will protect the fire from the wind.

This time we will have Master Class on production plastic bottle lamps. Even from two plastic bottles. Everything is done quite simply with your own hands. As a result, we get an interesting, original and, one might say, designer lamp

We will need:

- plastic bottle 5 liters
- plastic shampoo bottle
- sealant
- wires
- metal tube
- bulb
- glass paint
- polymer clay

IN These are the bottles we will need.

Cut off about half of the 5 liter bottle.

On top, under the neck, we make six notches with a marker. Equidistant, of course.

From these serifs we draw lines vertically down.

Let's draw a similar pattern on the bottle. Try to make it symmetrical.

At the bottom, where the pattern ends, we cut out the plastic along the contour of the pattern.

Now, according to the marked pattern, apply the sealant in thin lines.

At the bottom, where we just cut off the drawing along its contour, we also don’t forget to apply sealant.

Let the sealant dry. After it has completely dried, cover it with silver or gold paint. We need to achieve a metal effect.

Now, preferably, fill the cavities with glass paint. Don't use just one or two colors. Use three or more colors. The lamp will look richer and brighter.

Now we cut off the neck of the bottle. We needed it for convenient application of sealant and paint. We held the bottle for him.

Now let's start cutting the small bottle.

But first, cut out an oval from plywood or thick cardboard.

We make a hole in it in the middle. And we take two caps from such a small bottle and also make holes in them.

At the bottom of the bottle we make three holes in a line. Solder the lid to the bottom. The middle hole in the bottle and in the cap should match.

Insert a hollow metal tube.

We insert the bottle structure into a wooden oval.

Secure it at the bottom with a nut.

To hide traces of the connection, we cover everything with polymer clay.

We cover everything with golden paint or any paint that imitates metal.

We screw the light bulb socket onto the top of the metal tube. We pass the wires just through the tube.
Let's return now to the top of the lamp. On top, where the bottle had a neck, we make a cap like this.

In order for the upper part to rest on the lower part without additional fasteners, we make a structure like this on the light bulb.

This structure is then inserted into the cap on the top of the lamp. The photo shows a view from the inside of the lamp. Because There is polymer clay there, everything will harden after a while.

OK it's all over Now. Lamp from a plastic bottle ready. Everything, as you can see, was done by hand.

Making a table lamp with your own hands is not difficult - the main thing is to show your imagination

Table lamps are the easiest lighting fixtures to install. Lightweight, compact, they can easily be placed on a bedside table, on a coffee table, or on a windowsill. Despite the fact that a table lamp does not play a major role in the interior, with its functionality and decorativeness it gives the room an atmosphere of homeliness and comfort.

  1. A cut is made in each of the keys.
  1. Then the key must be bent.
  1. The key of the bottom row clings to the two keys of the top row.
  1. In this way, continue to fasten the keys to the bottom ring of the base.
Children's lamp "Pineapple"

The interior design of a children's room for a girl can be decorated with an interesting lampshade in the shape of a pineapple. How to make a shade for such a table lamp? You will need plastic spoons, bright acrylic paint in yellow and green, a plastic bottle and a base for a table lamp.

  1. You should cut off the bottom and top of the bottle, install a wire and a light bulb into it, and make three vertical cuts from the bottom. Then place the bottle with the slits on the base of the table lamp.
  1. Now you should prepare the pineapple scales. To do this, cut off the long part from each spoon. Paint the cut spoons on both sides with yellow paint and let them dry thoroughly. Next, you need to make small cuts in the plastic bottle blank with a thin, sharp knife. Insert spoons into these slits, starting at the bottom and ending at the top narrow base of the bottle.
  1. From another large plastic bottle, cut out the parts for the leaves, paint them with green paint and, after they are dry, attach the pineapple tail.
  1. The Pineapple lamp is ready.

Design ideas for beaded lampshades

A little imagination and a handful of multi-colored beads - and the interior of the room will be decorated with such an original lamp:

How to make a table lamp from a bottle?

In order to make a table lamp from a bottle, you need to select a container of an original shape, preferably from a fairly expensive drink with high-quality glass.

First you need to drill a hole for the wires in the bottom of the bottle:

  1. To do this, make a mark with a marker in the center of the bottom (use a ruler).
  2. Next you will need a deep bucket of sand.
  3. Fill the bottle with sand, turn it upside down, sticking the neck into the sand. This will balance the pressure on the glass during the drilling process and reduce the likelihood of it cracking.
  4. The bottle must be drowned in the sand with rotating movements so that approximately 5 cm of the bottom remains on the surface.
  5. Pour a little water on top of the bottom of the bottle and use a glass drill (0.95 cm) to drill a hole in the center of the mark at minimum speed. During the drilling process, it is necessary to hold the drill vertically very level, with virtually no downward pressure. Although water will theoretically prevent glass dust from flying away, it is important to prevent it from getting into your eyes or respiratory tract. Therefore, you must wear a mask over your face and eyes.
  6. It is very good if someone helps you by continuously pouring a thin stream of water onto the bottle.
  7. After the hole is ready, its edges must be sanded - this will prevent the wire from being cut during operation of the lamp.
  8. The same hole should be made in the bottle cap, after holding it in a vice.

If the selected bottle is not beautiful enough, you can decorate it with nail polish.

  1. Now you need to take a strong lid from a spice jar and drill a hole in its center. The edges of the hole should also be sanded.
  1. Then you need to put the cover on the rod, and add a washer and nut on top to secure the support cover. Place the bottle on top, base to cap, neck up. The nut is carefully tightened, securely fixing the structure.
  2. Next, a hole is drilled on the spice jar and the power cord is passed through it, which is then threaded through the rod and brought to the top. Care must be taken to ensure that the cord in the rod does not twist.
  3. Now the base cup is threaded onto the cord and rod on top, the set screw is tightened tightly and the wire is tied into a knot.
  1. The ends of the wire are stripped and the contacts on the cartridge are released (it is recommended to buy it with a switch). Then you should bend the ends of the wires, pass them through the clamp and tighten the screws on the base.
  2. The socket is inserted into the cup on the bottle so that the wires go into the cup, and the light bulb is screwed in.
  3. You can choose a shade for the finished lamp to suit your taste. You can plant it on a wire base.

Lamp made from a bottle using the jute filigree technique

How to make such a table lamp from a bottle? Its lampshade is assembled on a form for which a flower pot was used, from individual fragments of branches. To eliminate the gaps between them, during the work process they should be connected with various curls and leaves. The base-bottle made of blue glass is also decorated with the same elements. In addition, for its decoration you can use simple bleached jute, marbles and a glass outline. An LED strip is ideal for illumination, since this option will add brightness to the product and, in addition, the LED strip is practically safe.

  1. Jute and marbles can be purchased in specialized stores or ordered online.
  1. It is necessary to prepare twigs from which the lampshade will subsequently be assembled.
  1. Form a lampshade. The finished hat looks like this:
  1. Decorate the bottle base.
  1. The lower and upper parts of the lampshade look like this:

What materials would you use to decorate the lamp? Write your answer to

To create an original table lamp with your own hands, use a variety of glass bottles, both for alcohol and other products. The most important thing is that the shape of the bottle is unusual.

Not only do table lamps look beautiful, but they are also an eco-friendly way to reuse your household waste. This lighting device is very similar.

This DIY table lamp will be a unique gift for a wine collector or brandy connoisseur. In this case, it is recommended to keep the labels on the bottles. And if you use oil bottles or other “non-alcoholic” product for the lamp, it will become a real gift for parents (mothers and grandmothers). In general, it is suitable for any connoisseur of handmade items.

As mentioned above, you can leave a branded sticker as a decoration, and also fill the inside of the bottle with multi-colored glass balls in accordance with the color scheme of your interior.

To create a table lamp with your own hands you will need:
1. Beautiful bottle.
2. A set consisting of a socket, a switch, a cord and a plug. You can use a ready-made set, or you can purchase everything separately.
3. Diamond crown.
4. A small lampshade, which you can also purchase ready-made or make yourself.

As you can see from the kit, the costs are minimal.

Step 1

The first step is to drill a hole in the bottle through which the power cord will then be passed. This is perhaps the most responsible and difficult part of the job.

The drilling location is selected on the side that will be located behind the lamp during operation. Also, the hole for the power cord should be located as close as possible to the base of the lamp.

Before starting work, it is necessary to tilt the drill to the side and use the edge of the drill to mark the drilling location. This is to prevent the drill bit from sliding around the bottle and ultimately causing damage. After this, you can proceed directly to the drilling process. It is worth noting that the drilling site must be constantly watered. This will protect you from glass dust, which can negatively affect your health if it gets into your lungs. In addition, water will prevent the glass from overheating and allow you to complete difficult work to the end without damaging the glass bottle.

Don't forget about protective equipment such as gloves and safety glasses. Keep in mind that you perform all drilling work at your own peril and risk. The website website is not responsible for damage caused to your health during the manufacturing process of the table lamp.

The drilling process may take several minutes, it all depends on the quality and thickness of the glass. Be careful and patient and you will get a clean, even cut.

If you still do not dare to do this work yourself, we recommend contacting a glass cutting workshop. There, a master of his craft can handle this task.

Step 2

Pass the power cord through the hole in the bottle. In this case, it is necessary to install a special rubber ring that will protect the power cord from rubbing against the edges of the bottle.

If you use a separately purchased cord, switch, socket and socket, then after passing the power cord through, mount all the elements together.

If you purchased a ready-made set, you will have to cut the wire running inside the switch in order to be able to pass the cord through the hole in the bottle. After you have passed the cord, solder the wire at the cut site and assemble the switch.

Place the cartridge in the neck of the bottle and do not connect the plug to the socket until you finish creating the lamp.

Step 3

The next step is to decorate the inside of the bottle (see description at the beginning of the article), if there is such a desire. Paint the lampshade a color that matches the color of the bottle or the color of your room. Attach the lampshade to the socket.

Step 4

Install the light bulb in the socket. A few words about choosing a light bulb. It is best to use low power or use LED. This requirement is based on obtaining the least possible heating of the lampshade.

  • gloves to protect hands;
  • chandelier frame.

First, you will need to trim the top of the bottles, and then cut the resulting ring. This will make it easier to cut out leaves from them. For that, to make the edges more beautiful and neat, use manicure scissors rather than ordinary scissors: The work ahead is quite painstaking. After this, you need to treat the ends of the resulting leaves with a blowtorch.

Remember! It is very important to use protective gloves to avoid getting burned or injured when preparing sheets for the plastic bottle chandelier.

To create a visual effect of naturalness, it is worth heating the front side with a blowtorch, and at the moment when the leaf is well heated, you can make veins on it using a knife.

You can choose the shape of the sheets yourself. The leaves that look the most beautiful are those that are similar in shape to maple..

After all the leaves have been prepared, you can proceed to the stage of attaching them to the frame. Thin wire needs to be cut into small pieces. After this, take a leaf and melt its back side. While it's warm, glue the wire to it. After such work done, you should have full-fledged leaves with sticks.

At the next stage, you will need a large and long wire so that the leaves can be collected into one branch. All branches can be carefully screwed to a long wire. The resulting chandelier can now be mounted on the ceiling.

Insert the socket and screw in the light bulb. Your chandelier is ready!

Waste material can also be useful

Thus, Using unnecessary material, you can easily create an original lamp at home. A chandelier made with your own hands from plastic bottles will look beautiful and will be suitable for decorating any room. It is important to decide exactly what shape you want to give the lamp, as well as choose the right color scheme.

Originality is in fashion now, and therefore you should not limit your imagination. You can, based on these options, come up with something of your own, more unusual. Thus, not only you will admire the beauty of the chandelier, but also the guests who will come to your home.

Back in 2009, the fashion house Maison Martin Margiela presented its interior collection of table lamps with bases made from vintage bottles. The non-standard design, as well as the laconicism of shape and color (black or white), subsequently gave rise to numerous attempts to repeat the trend. Including - to do DIY bottle lamp.

Maison Martin Margiela bottle lamps

If you have a collection of unusual bottles in your home that only take up space and are a pity to throw away, you can turn them into exclusive interior items. In the same lamps, first of all. Today we will talk about how to make a lamp from a bottle with your own hands. We will also discuss the question of how to avoid cutting and drilling glass - difficulties that stop many people.

DIY bottle table lamp

Of all the interior items that designers now make from bottles, table lamps made from bottles as a base are the most common. And this is understandable - fashion has been set, and production is simple. Let's try again.

First, we need to thoroughly wash the inside of the bottle. This is especially true for old bottles, in which no one knows what has accumulated over the years. For our purposes, the bottle must shine, and in this case this becomes a whole problem. Especially if the bottle is 10-20 liters and has a narrow neck, into which no brush will fit.

Therefore, several options will come in handy that will allow you to wash the bottle from the inside:

How to wash bottles

  1. Pour a quarter liter (250 ml) of heated table vinegar into a bottle. Add two handfuls of coarse salt and one handful of soda. Shake the bottle with this mixture vigorously for about 10 minutes. If the dirt is not washed off, you can fill it with hot water to the top and let it sit for half a day - a day. Then we pour everything out and rinse it many times to clean the bottle until it shines.
  2. You can add fine gravel or nails to the same mixture. When shaken, these items will additionally wash the bottle mechanically. Just shake it carefully so as not to damage the glass. This method is not suitable for containers with thin and fragile glass.
  3. For mechanical cleaning, this option can also be useful: a metal sponge for washing dishes is inserted inside the bottle. Take a medium-sized magnet. We move the magnet over the bottle, and the sponge stuck to it through the glass washes the bottle from the inside. Heavily dried dirt is unlikely to be washed off using this method, but a light coating is fine.

How to wash a label from a bottle? If there is a sticker on the bottle and you do not plan to leave it, the easiest way is to wash the glue off the bottle from the label with white spirit.

Now we dry our future base and start creating the lamp.

Preparing the base of a table lamp from a bottle

We need to pass an electrical cord through the base. And to do this you will need to drill a hole in the bottle. If you don't want to drill, take a look here. In what cases does it make sense to take up a drill? Then, when the wire is aesthetically wound or straightened, it adds additional decorativeness to the lamp, since it is visible through the glass. In this case, you need to think about the quality and color of the power cord in advance. In some cases, ordinary black and white ones in plastic winding will do. But you can also take the so-called retro ones: wrapped in fabric. For example, like this:

So, to pass the electrical wire from the base to the neck of the bottle, you need to drill a hole. This can be done with a drill or screwdriver with a special glass drill:

Types of drill bits for glass

We mark the location of the future hole with a marker and start drilling. The most important thing is that the bottle does not crack. Therefore, it is better to drill intermittently so as not to overheat the glass. You can periodically wet the surface with water.

Or make a design like in the photo below. To do this, fill the bottle with sand (you can additionally secure the bottle - to do this, take a box of suitable size, pour sand into it and bury the bottle in it). We attach a piece of electrical tape or medical plaster to the place where the hole is planned and drill through it - this will reduce the risk of crack formation.

Attach the cord and cartridge to the bottle

Here everything is approximately the same as in the case of attaching a socket to the base of a table lamp from a bottle, and even much simpler, since you do not need to use an adapter tube for a tight connection.

For some types of bottles, especially those made of light and thin glass, you can generally get by with only one cartridge. Additionally, you can secure the wire using a plug, as in the photo below:

For greater structural strength, the plug can be lubricated with high-quality glue before inserting.

If the bottle has a screw-on metal cap, do not rush to remove it. It is enough to drill a hole in it according to the diameter of the cord and tie the wire in a knot so that the knot is located under the plug and is hidden by it. Thus, the entire weight of the lamp from the bottle will fall not on the cartridge, but on the assembly.

But ordinary ones of the simplest form will also look good, especially for interiors in a minimalist style. If you want something more complicated, you can paint a bottle or light bulb with glass paints.

A simple lamp - a lampshade made from a glass bottle

And finally, let's talk about how to make an easy-to-make lamp from a bottle with your own hands so that you don't have to drill or cut anything at all. This category of lamps includes all those presented in these photos:

The whole principle here comes down to choosing the size of the head and light bulbs with sockets so that the latter fit into the bottle without any problems. These can be all kinds of garlands, including solar-powered ones. By the way, lamps made from them will miraculously decorate the garden and, recharging during the day, will light up by themselves in the evening. For the same purposes, you can use pieces of LED strips or small LED bulbs.

Actually, in the case of such lamps there is only one difficulty - how to fix the light bulbs in them. You can do this, for example, as follows.

Take a wide-necked milk bottle with a metal cap. And use a knife to cut a circle in the lid along the diameter of the upper part of the socket (the one into which the light bulb is screwed):

The next step is to insert our cartridge into the hole and secure it from below with a special mounting ring (sold together with the cartridge - by size - E14, E 27, etc.):

We assemble the socket and screw in the light bulb:

Before screwing on the lid with the light bulb connected to it, you can first place decor inside the resulting lamp from the bottle:

That's all. Enjoying the result:

By the way, regarding the decor... Very often its role is played by the labels on the bottles, adding a touch of authenticity and charm. But what if the bottle you like doesn’t have a label, and we like this feature. You can do something like emission.

We take a piece of decoupage card with a design or text we like. Cut out the required size. And roll it up into a tube and carefully push it inside the bottle. We straighten a piece of paper in it (it’s convenient to do this with two long tweezers. We place a light bulb inside.

In this case, you will have to pay attention to ensure that the paper does not come into contact with the light bulb; ideally, purchase a light bulb that does not heat up (led).

We all love beautiful lamps. They are an excellent option for visually transforming the interior of almost any apartment. The most interesting thing is that it’s not at all difficult to make a lamp from a bottle with your own hands. Let's look at several ways to implement such an unusual idea.

Original lamp from a wine bottle

DIY wine bottle lamp

Wine is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks in the world. There is no doubt that in almost every home at least one bottle is bought for every holiday.

This is interesting: After the wine is drunk, the container becomes unnecessary and is simply thrown away. Luckily, old bottles can be turned into interesting lamps that can add a magical touch to your living room or bedroom. They look especially beautiful in complete darkness. Let's find out how to make such a lamp!

Step-by-step instruction

1. Select the appropriate material. Collect all the empty wine bottles and select a few of the same ones to use to make a lamp. You can take different bottles, but in this case the composition will not be complete. They can be any color. A lamp made from a frosted bottle and a brighter LED garland will look especially beautiful.

2.Remove the label. The label must be carefully removed from each bottle. For a high-quality result, use a sponge and warm water.

Washing wine bottles

3.Rinse the bottles. They need to be thoroughly treated both outside and inside. After this step, leave the bottles to dry completely.

4. We outline a place for the wires. It is necessary to mark the place from which the wires of our lamp will come out. It is better to make a hole in the side wall near the bottom. This way your lamp will look much neater and more aesthetically pleasing.

5. Prepare the water. We will need it to make a hole in the bottle.

6.Power tools. Prepare in advance the tool you will use to make our hole for the wires. A diamond crown is best suited for such painstaking work. This way you can do everything carefully, and the hole will be smooth.

Use clay to drill a hole

7.Use clay. We make a cake from clay and apply it to the intended hole. While drilling, you will need to occasionally slowly and carefully pour water into our hole. This is necessary to ensure that the bottle does not overheat and crack.

8.Drilling. Drilling must be done very carefully so as not to damage the bottle. After completing this process, remove the clay and rinse the bottle again.

The hole must be sanded

9.Use sandpaper. To make the hole smooth, you need to go over it with sandpaper. This way you will sharpen sharp edges and protect yourself from possible injury. This is also necessary in order not to damage the wires that will come out of this hole. Select a piece of sandpaper whose grit is 150 mm.

10.Re-cleaning the bottle. After the work is done, I wash it again.

11.LED lights or garlands. Take LED lights or garland. Single-color lights will look beautiful. But you can also use a multi-colored garland. It all depends on your preferences.

We insert the garland into the bottle through the hole

12.Place the lights in the bottle. Insert the garland into the bottle so that its plug comes out of the hole made.

13. Gasket in the bottle hole. You can use a special gasket to secure the wires. This is optional, but it will help prevent accidental damage to the wiring. In addition, with such a gasket the appearance of the lamp will look much better.

Insert the rubber gasket

14. Fasten the wires. After installing the gasket, you need to secure the wires well.

15.Connect. After the work has been done, you can see what you got. Plug in your new lamp. If you don’t like the way the garland looks, you can carefully straighten it. To avoid having to disassemble the lamp, take a thin stick and use it to eliminate any imperfections.

Wine bottle lamp is ready

16.Done. You can decorate the bottle with decorative ribbons or laces (optional). We hope you are satisfied with the result!

Video. Light from a glass bottle in 3 minutes

There is an even easier way to create a lamp from glass bottles - without drilling a hole. We offer video instructions:

DIY lamp made from a plastic bottle

You can make a rather unusual lamp yourself from simple plastic water bottles. Such a craft will look truly unique and original. Finding analogues is not easy.

Original lamp made from plastic bottles

Necessary materials to create a lamp

To make a lamp according to the scheme proposed below, you will need several plastic bottles of various sizes. So, for the base you can use a large bottle, for example, a five-liter one. And for additional decor - smaller bottles. It is important that they have the same color and size.

Base for lamp made from plastic bottles

In addition to the bottles themselves, you will also need to prepare an electric socket, a sufficiently long wire, a plug and the light bulb itself.

Important information: Traditional incandescent lamps are a bad option for our lamp. The fact is that in the process of heating the glass, the plastic can begin to melt, releasing an extremely unpleasant odor. In the worst case, this can even lead to a fire. To make a lamp from plastic bottles at home, you need to purchase exclusively halogen light bulbs (economical). Their advantage is that during operation there is no strong heating.

Marking a bottle lamp

Step one: preparing the base for the lamp

The basis of the lamp will be a large plastic bottle or a five-liter bottle. It is necessary to cut off the lower part (bottom) from it. Leave the top of the container intact; an electrical wire will be passed through the neck later.

Marked base for lamp

Then you need to measure the diameter of the necks of other plastic bottles that will be used for decoration. You can simply attach them to the main container and use a marker to draw circles of the appropriate size. It is advisable to increase the diameter by a few millimeters so that later you can screw the bottles into the side holes without any problems.

Holes in a bottle lamp

Helpful Hint: The easiest way to cut holes for the side bottles is to use a wallpaper knife. But if it is not there, you can use ordinary sharp scissors.

Step two: preparing plastic bottles for decoration

Plastic containers for decoration are prepared as follows. First, their bottom is cut off, then the workpiece is evenly cut into thin strips (you can see the approximate thickness in the photo). The strips are cut right down to the neck - the thickest part of the plastic bottle.

Cutting a bottle to decorate a lamp

Each piece is then heated over a gas burner until it melts, giving it a disordered and chaotic appearance. It's not difficult to do this. Firstly, narrow strips of plastic, in any case, under the influence of high temperatures begin to change their shape, bending in the most bizarre way. If you want to correct the shape, use special tweezers or pliers.

Cut bottle for lamp decoration

Step three: assembling the lamp

After melting, all prepared bottle blanks are carefully screwed into the base. All that remains is to make a small hole in the base cover with a heated soldering iron, a special burner or any other available method.

Melting of plastic bottles for a lamp made from plastic bottles

An electrical wire is threaded through this hole and connected to the socket. And for ease of use, you can also attach a loop made of wire. This way it will be convenient to hang the lamp in the right place.

Insert decorative bottles into the holes

At the last stage, an electric plug is screwed to the second end of the wire, and a halogen light bulb is inserted into the threaded socket. That's all - an unusual lamp made from plastic bottles is ready for use. Hang it by the loop, plug it in and check it out!

Insert the cartridge

If you like the result, you can try to make a few more similar home lamps using plastic bottles of different colors for them. The result will be decorative and very attractive lighting, which, due to the special decor, will shine in an unusual way on the walls and ceiling of your room.

    THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

        What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay.

  • It’s also nice that eBay’s attempts to Russify the interface for users from Russia and the CIS countries have begun to bear fruit. After all, the overwhelming majority of citizens of the countries of the former USSR do not have strong knowledge of foreign languages. No more than 5% of the population speak English. There are more among young people. Therefore, at least the interface is in Russian - this is a big help for online shopping on this trading platform. eBay did not follow the path of its Chinese counterpart Aliexpress, where a machine (very clumsy and incomprehensible, sometimes causing laughter) translation of product descriptions is performed. I hope that at a more advanced stage of development of artificial intelligence, high-quality machine translation from any language to any in a matter of seconds will become a reality. So far we have this (the profile of one of the sellers on eBay with a Russian interface, but an English description):
