At the beginning of October 2017, KIA Motors introduced the Rio X-Line all-terrain hatchback, and the next month the car appeared on the Russian market.
Serial production of the new Kia Rio X-Line model was launched at a plant in St. Petersburg, and its competitors are Lada XRAY and Renault Sandero.

Still, the Kia Rio X-Line cannot be called a full-fledged new product, since in terms of design and technically it almost completely repeats the Rio K2 Cross, which the Koreans showed back in April at the Shanghai Motor Show.
When working on the creation of the Kia Rio X-Line, the company used a standard recipe. In particular, the five-door received an all-terrain body kit made of unpainted plastic all around with wheel arch extensions and side moldings, while its ground clearance was increased to 170 mm (+ 10).
At the front, the hatch has a small gloss black grille with a chrome surround. Chrome inserts also shine in the corners of the slanted headlights, making the model's look more expressive. At the bottom there is a decorative silver-colored trim that imitates underbody protection. A similar element is located on the rear bumper.
The window sill line of the new Kia Rio X Line 2018 rises smoothly and is emphasized by chrome, although the window frames themselves are made of unpainted plastic. The roof rails are also made from the latter, which effectively complement the image of the model. On the base, the door handles are made to match the body color, while on more expensive trim levels they are finished in chrome.
There is a visor on the fifth door of the car, and the rear lights are visually united with each other by a thin horizontal bar. Among other features of the stern, the chrome-plated double-barreled exhaust system, which the Picanto X-Line previously received, deserves mention.
Salon
The interior of the new Kia Rio X-Line almost completely repeats the interior design of the 4th generation Rio sedan, however, there are differences here too. Thus, a more modern version of the multimedia system is available as an option.
The latter has support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay interfaces, and its functionality can be controlled from a 7.0-inch touch screen, which can display an image from the rear view camera or navigation system map.
Otherwise, the interior of the “off-road hatchback” is completely identical to the sedan, although the aforementioned Chinese K2 Cross has contrasting inserts in the interior. For some reason they decided to do without them in the Russian version of Rio X-Line.
Just like a regular sedan, the “raised” X-Line has a multifunction steering wheel with reach adjustment. The steering wheel itself has a leather braid and a heating function. In the basic trim levels, the seats are trimmed with fabric, while the top ones sport eco-leather upholstery.

Detailed technical specifications of Kia Rio X-Line
The length, width and height of the Kia Rio X-Line reaches 4,240, 1,750 and 1,510 mm, respectively, the distance between the axles is 2,600 millimeters. The curb weight of the five-door varies from 1,155 to 1,203 kg. Thanks to the 60:40 folding backrest of the rear sofa, the trunk volume is from 390 to 1,075 liters.
The suspension scheme of the new Kia Rio X-Line is quite standard: MacPherson struts are used at the front, and a semi-independent torsion beam at the rear. At the same time, the Koreans emphasize that the suspension was optimized for the realities of Russian roads, and the car passed a whole series of relevant tests.
The default hatchback wheels are equipped with 15-inch steel wheels with 185/65 tires. More expensive trim levels are equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels with 195/55 tires specially designed for this modification.
The Kia Rio X Line 2017 is offered with a 1.4-liter engine that produces 100 hp. at 6,000 rpm and 132 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It is paired with a 1.6-liter engine with 123 horsepower at 6,300 rpm and 151 Nm of torque available at 4,850 rpm.
Both power units are available both with a six-speed manual and with a similar automatic transmission, while the drive here is exclusively front-wheel drive. Note that the Chinese twin brother has the same “filling”.

The new Kia Rio X-Line hatchback is sold in Russia in four trim levels: Comfort, Luxe, Prestige AV and Premium. The price of the Kia Rio X-Line 2018 varies from 784,900 to 1,034,900 rubles.

- Kia Rio Red Garnet. Name – Garnet Red. Code – TDY. This shade makes the car (no matter whether it is a hatchback or a sedan) very graceful and elegant. Women, of course, appreciate the bright and vibrant color. Shades of gray are more suitable for men, especially dark variations.
- Kia Rio Silver gloss. Name – Sleek Silver. Code – RHM. Universal shade. The color is not noticeable and allows you to hide scratches. Many compare it to the shade of wet asphalt, but the latter option is much darker.
- Kia Rio Carbon Gray. Name – Carbon Gray. Code – SAE. One of the most stylish variations. Cars with this paint look very presentable and elegant. Unlike the Kia Rio Silver gloss, carbon gray is darker. Similar to the wet asphalt color previously offered among other options.
- Kia Rio Black Ghost. Name – Phantom Black. Code – MZH. Despite the unusual name, the shade is nothing more than a simple black color. Mother-of-pearl shimmer adds additional charm. A stylish solution for business men.
- Kia Rio White crystal. Name – Crystal White. Code – PGU. Neat, delicate classic shade. It's hard to think of a car that looks bad in white. Interestingly, in the shade the paint shimmers curiously, creating a peculiar slightly gray, slightly beige effect (a similar option was previously in the line).
- Kia Rio Dazzling blue. Name – Sapphire Blue. Code – WGM. Rare color, catchy, bright. It's no surprise that women like it along with red. Of course, you can also meet a man driving a blue Rio, but this is an exception.
- Kia Rio Coffee brown, chocolate. Name – Coffee Brown. Code – VC5. The buyer really liked the fresh color from the South Koreans. The combination of shades of brown creates the impression that strong coffee was spilled on the body of the car. The color is vibrant and interesting.
Before painting your KIA, you need to send the car to a car wash or wash the repair area yourself. After this, wipe the body dry and treat all areas with rust. We recommend using a corrosion modifier. This substance can cope with rust even in places with microcracks in the metal. The next stage is treating “problem” areas with a degreasing compound to ensure better adhesion of the paint to the surface. If deep damage is detected, it is recommended to apply a primer, after which you can begin painting using a KIA paint pencil. First check on any cardboard how the enamel is applied. After this, you can paint all damaged areas of the body. It is better and easier to paint over the smallest chips and scratches with an ordinary toothpick or an art brush No. 00-No. 1.
Repairing KIA chips requires applying several layers of enamel. It is important to take a break (10-20 minutes) after each application so that the paint can dry. The last stage of repair activities involves applying varnish to the painted areas. The procedure is necessary to ensure that the repaired areas acquire additional protection and a beautiful finish gloss. This completes the painting. However, you cannot operate the car immediately after repair, as final drying is required. One hour is enough for pencil enamel, as well as touch-free varnish. But for the varnish to dry completely it takes from a day to two. It is also advisable to polish the treated areas so that they differ as little as possible from the main body coating.
