What owner of a private house does not want to turn his plot into a miniature piece of paradise? Essentially, to realize this dream you don’t need a lot of money, just a little imagination, diligence and free time. And we will offer several win-win options on how to decorate the yard with your own hands in this publication.

Flower beds and flower beds

The most affordable and simplest option for decorating a living space is flower beds. They can be planted and sown literally everywhere: along the perimeter of the yard, in pots and flowerpots, near the house itself, etc.

Flowering and climbing plants planted in old and unnecessary dishes or furniture look especially colorful. For example, I can use barrels, salting jars, furniture and even broken plumbing fixtures.

The main thing is to tidy up the selected container a little, tint it, putty it, or repaint it with bright acrylic paint.

If chaotically arranged flower pots are not your option, then you can start organizing flower beds.

They can be of the following types:

  • Monoclumbs are a quick solution to decorate the yard of your private home with flowers. They are inhabited by plants of the same variety, the same roses, asters or tulips, for example. It is desirable that such an island have a decent area, otherwise it will look dull and “makeshift”;
  • Round flower beds. Decorating flower beds of this type is a somewhat more difficult task, but also accessible to non-professionals. It implies the presence of one central element, which can be a natural stone or a composition of artificial boulders. Plants are planted around it in tiers. Moreover, it is important to take into account their height in adulthood, and plant the seedlings so that the tallest is on the top tier, and the smallest on the bottom. Again, make sure that the flowers match each other in their shades, and do not create "Gypsy motley" and disharmony;
  • A rock garden or alpine slide is another option for decorating your yard with flowers. It is also possible to build it with your own hands, which will require stones of different sizes, imitating rock fragments. The largest ones are placed on top, the smaller ones are located at the bottom, and climbing and creeping plants that naturally grow in mountain systems are planted between them.

Recreation areas

On a summer evening it is so nice to sit outside, enjoy the pleasant coolness and communicate with loved ones. To make your vacation as comfortable and beautiful as possible, you can try to build an exclusive bench from the trunk of an old fallen tree.

You need to saw it in half, saw the footrests from the remains, put it all together, and attach a back from an old wooden door, for example. Sounds like "hodgepodge", but if you get a little creative, be careful and try hard, the end result will be a comfortable shop in eco-style.

A children's playground is what should be in the courtyard of a private country house, where the whole family gathers on weekends. If you think that this is an expensive pleasure, then you are deeply mistaken. Sand costs a penny; for setting up a sandbox, scraps of chipboard or fibreboard left after renovation, cut to size and painted in bright colors, are suitable.

Swings, horizontal bars and even carousels are made from pipe scraps, which only requires welding and the consumables themselves.

Fountains and curly bushes

A fountain is something that will certainly decorate and enliven the existing design of the yard. Near it you can set up a recreation area so that you can relax, watch the water and enjoy the fresh, humid air. All building materials for the frame of the structure can be found at home, but with the pump you need to be very careful and picky. The success of the entire event depends on how high quality it is.

Green hedges and figures from bushes are a real treasure for those who are tormented by thoughts “how you can inexpensively decorate your yard with your own hands”.

Of course, it will take more than one year to create a full-fledged composition, but the result is worth it. In addition, there are plants in nature that seem to be purposely created for such purposes. These include boxwood, prickly holly and yew.

Before you make yard decorations from perennial shrubs, carefully consider your planting plan and come up with the perfect composition.

It is possible that the plants will form a circle or a living fence, or you may want to form them into whimsical images for the delight of your children or grandchildren.

Lighting

Properly located outdoor lighting fixtures not only make living in a private home comfortable and safe, but also perform a certain decorative function. Today it is no longer relevant to limit yourself to a lamp hanging alone over the threshold. The current range of lighting devices allows you to zone an area, frame paths and gazebos, gates and steps, flower beds, etc. It is not necessary that they all run on electricity, since there is always the option of purchasing products that run on solar batteries.

They provide soft and diffused light, creating a romantic atmosphere.

When a private house has already been built, all that remains is to improve the territory itself. We will give you ideas on how to improve the yard of a private house and decorate your suburban area in an interesting, beautiful and cost-effective manner.

Create a beautiful yard using flower arrangements

Who among us will remain indifferent to flowers? Flowers are one of the easiest ways to add bright colors to your yard and at the same time coziness. When it comes to decorating a yard, flowers are simply irreplaceable.

Anyone can plant flowers and make a bright composition out of them, but to do something more original, you need to use your imagination.

A flower motorcycle or bicycle will look very unusual. I think that for those who previously had such a “friend” there should be problems with this. There are two ways to make a flowerbed from a bicycle:

We take this “miracle of technology” as a basis and cover horizontal and partially vertical surfaces with a mesh filled with nutrient soil.

We install ready-made flower pots. If you choose hanging flower pots with coconut shavings, then you can put a baby diaper at the bottom so that when watering, all the water does not flow out at once, but remains inside.

Next we start decorating. To make the creation look more original, it is best to decorate it with climbing annual plants and low ground cover flowers. They live well in such bicycle flower beds:

  • petunias,
  • marigold,
  • viola,
  • geranium.

If you are preparing for a flower exhibition, you can cover the entire body of your bicycle with garden flowers. A flower arrangement will look very impressive if the flowers are the same color.

It is very good to decorate a country house with climbing flowers. To do this, you can use both the simplest, unpretentious plants, for example, morning glory or virgin grapes, and more noble flowers - climbing roses or clematis. These plants can create a real paradise in a suburban area.

Climbing roses can decorate your yard so much that it will simply be filled with flowers, especially if you choose climbing roses that bloom all summer.

Do not forget that even unnecessary old shoes can become an original decoration for the site. Take a pair of bright children's rubber boots, make holes in the sole, add drainage, then soil and plant flowers. These will make excellent garden pots for outdoor flowers. And it’s especially nice that we decorate the yard with our own hands at no extra cost.

To make an original garden flowerpot, you can use not only shoes, but also old broken jugs, garden watering cans, old kitchen utensils, basins, buckets, tubs, wheelbarrows, bathtubs, barrels.

You can also create beautiful garden beds with your own hands in old stumps. They are very simple and elegant. This DIY yard decoration can be seasonal if you plant tulips in the stumps

Old logs will really help us decorate our patio at the dacha. If there are rotten logs, you can hollow out a hole in them, lay soil and create a beautiful flower arrangement.

Topiary

Another good way to create a beautiful yard and add interest to the area is to give the bushes an unusual shape. This technique is often used by experienced owners of country houses, creating stunning topiary and a beautiful courtyard of a private house.

Some of them even manage to turn their yard into a real zoo, using pruning shears to cut out the figures of various animals that enliven the yard of a private house.

A waterfall, fountain, pool are the main decorations of the yard in the summer season

If you are thinking about how to improve the yard of a private house with your own hands, then be sure to create a fountain or pond on a suburban area. How nice it will be to be near the water in the summer heat.

The splashes of water from the fountain will protect the plants from dryness, and the pool will be a real salvation from the sun's rays; children who love to splash in the water will especially be happy with it.

Looking at the waterfall, you imagine yourself somewhere far from home. Landscaping the courtyard of a private house with even the smallest fountain is very relaxing.

It’s very easy to make this beauty your own. Surely after construction many will find pieces of tiles, tiles, and stones. River stones will look more realistic.

A fountain installed in the depths of the garden will look very harmonious. You can also put benches and swings for children there. This way the garden will turn into a real park where the whole family can relax and the arrangement of the yard will be complete.

Stone garden - beautiful and mysterious

For those who want to stand out, we offer to make a stone garden on their personal plot. It can consist only of stones and sand, but it is better to dilute it with different colors, green plants, as well as a small pond or waterfall. This is a very unusual yard decoration.

Stone elements can become the decoration of the path. Stones or bricks can be used to create incredibly cozy recreation areas - patios that can decorate any yard of a private home.

From all this we can conclude that if you have at least a little skill in working on the land and show your imagination, you can turn an ordinary yard into a work of art!

Gazebo in the courtyard of a private house

One of the most essential things when decorating the yard of a private house with your own hands is a gazebo. Gazebos can be different - open, closed, attached to the house. These can be awnings and marquees, tents.

The most practical do-it-yourself gazebos in the courtyard of a private house are made of polycarbonate.

The most romantic gazebos in the yard are tents with fluttering fabrics and a lot of beautiful country furniture. Landscaping the yard of a private house with such a tent is one of the most enjoyable activities!

The classic layout of the courtyard of a private house usually includes a wooden gazebo with carved elements. Arranging the yard of a private house with the help of a gazebo is as easy as shelling pears!

If you have bad soil in your garden (poor or heavy), then you can not try to squeeze something out of it, but resort to a convenient method of planting - a container garden. Plants in tubs will help decorate the yard, terrace, patio, as well as the balcony and loggia in the apartment. It is also mobile - you can move the composition as you please, and it is always bright - faded plants can be replaced with fresh blooming ones.

Today I invite you to see how plants in tubs can decorate your yard.

Let's start with this wonderful tub, which contains so many beauties! The principle, as always, is to have small and drooping flowers at the bottom, bright-leaved plants in the middle, and accents of tall flowers at the highest.

A wonderful example of organizing a spring flowerbed with tulips.

Another idea on how to make a hanging planter with watering.

Another example of using old utensils. A flowerbed, the containers for which are an old basin and a fire bucket. I would also paint it all in some neutral color, otherwise the look of the iron is somewhat depressing...

This example is brighter and prettier! Maybe even too childish, but probably the author really wanted to decorate the everyday life of the streets.

And in this yard the owner decided to use only blue flower pots. Interesting solution!

If you have an old bicycle lying around at your dacha or in the basement, you can use it as a flowerbed. Only I would pre-paint it one color. It would be more stylish that way. I often see solutions with white or pale shades.

You can also make a multi-tiered composition from flower pots and containers.

A pot with flowers on a shelf that runs along the perimeter of the house is a convenient solution for gardeners. For the summer, you can expose all your indoor flowers to fresh air!

Pots with plants along the sides of the path will decorate it no worse than a flower border!

Composition of flowers - top view.

This is how you can decorate a cozy corner in the yard near the bench.

Bright flowerpots can also be empty - simply serve as courtyard decorations.

A flowerbed with an interesting design can decorate any garden plot, even if it contains heavy and not very attractive buildings. A flower garden properly filled with various ornamental crops adds bright shades to the appearance of the area.

The simplest house, immersed in a riot of plant colors, seems interesting and not boring. Making a beautiful flowerbed with your own hands is not difficult, but this task requires some preparation: choosing the right location, treating the soil and thinking through the composition.

A flowerbed in front of the house is a common landscaping technique.

Selecting a location

The first stage of planning a flower garden is choosing a location for it. It is especially important to consciously approach this step if the plot is small. There are two aspects to consider in this matter: location in relation to the sun and personal preference.

For the most part, outdoor flowers are sun-loving. In order not to limit yourself in the choice of plants in the future, it is better to immediately select a sunny area for the flowerbed, protected from drafts.

At the same time, due to territorial limitations or individual desires, a flower garden may have to be laid out right under the window, under the wall of the house and in other shaded places. In this case, it will be necessary to select plants that live comfortably in such conditions.

Soil preparation and planting features

It is with the preparation of the soil that one should begin the practical implementation of the plan for decorating a flower garden. During soil cultivation, it is possible to study the composition of the soil and make adjustments to the planned list of plants. The optimal period for this is spring.

High-quality soil is the key to successful “prosperity” of a flower bed

You can make a flowerbed with your own hands, even on not very fertile soil, by taking certain measures. Basic recommendations:

  • clay soil will become lighter if you add sand to it;
  • Clay and stone flour will help make the soil heavier;
  • To improve the characteristics of any type of soil, compost and peat are suitable; these fertilizers increase air exchange and moisture transfer of the soil, positively affecting its fertility.

You can enrich the soil with oxygen and distribute all the added additives so that the soil is homogeneous by digging. It is advisable to use a garden fork for this. The ideal processing depth is 25cm. As a result, the plant root system will receive the most favorable conditions for its development.

It is best to plant perennial plants in the fall. Depending on the species, you should choose a day in the range from early September to mid-October. Autumn planting allows perennials to more easily adapt to cold weather and harden in winter.

When using seedlings in pots (with closed roots), planting can be done throughout the summer months. However, it is important to actively water the plants and protect them from the scorching sun at first.

Rules for arranging a mixborder

Mixborder includes many plants that form in three to five tiers

A flowerbed with plants whose flowering periods follow each other without interruption looks very impressive. With proper care, it will decorate the area with bright colors in spring, summer, late autumn and even winter.

One of the options for clubs with continuous flowering is mixborder. Its peculiarity is the planting of various plants in several rows and tiers, while symmetry is not necessary.

Mixborder is a rather complex engineering and artistic structure that requires thoughtful composition and accurate calculations. Its basis can be flowering perennials, which can be supplemented with herbaceous and small tree species, as well as conifers and plants with decorative foliage. As a rule, at least 5-6 different types are used. With their correct selection, you can create a unique element of landscape design.

The plantings are arranged in 3-4 tiers. In the foreground there should be plants up to 40 cm high, in the middle - 40-70 cm, in the background - 80-150 cm. The stems of the rear tier are covered by the flowers and foliage of the front.

When planning a mixborder, it is very important to take into account the flowering time of plants. Species blooming in the same period should be evenly distributed throughout the area and combined with each other so that the overall picture is harmonious.

In most cases, flowering time is about two weeks. Borderline moments, when some buds wither and others are just beginning to bloom, cannot be avoided. To smooth them out, it is necessary to plant species with beautiful decorative leaves.

Detailed planning will help bring together disparate ideas and take into account all the nuances. It is worth making a calendar of flowering plants, and then drawing on paper a sketch of the future flower bed indicating the names of plant species. The background for a mixborder can be a fence, a house wall, a hedge or a gazebo.

Flowering periods

What flowers can be planted on different tiers of mixborders in the yard, taking into account the flowering period? In the last plan it is worth placing tall plant species that bloom in the last weeks of summer and autumn. We are talking about chrysanthemums (Indian and Korean), hybrid delphinium, sunflower, irises (Siberian and garden), peony, perennial lupine, echinacea, astilbe (Thunberg and hybrid), paniculum phlox, aquilegia, asparagus, mullein, hybrid helenium, oriental poppy , aconite and others.

The central strip of the flowerbed should be decorated with medium-sized plants, the flowers of which bloom from late June to early August. These include lilies and daylilies of various varieties, low dahlias, astilbes (Japanese and Arendsa), phlox and so on.

In front of them on the first tier can grow low species that bloom in the spring, including: hare's ears, pansies, forget-me-nots, primroses, arabises, creeping gypsophila, coreopsis, phlox, alpine aster, sedum and others. It is worth considering that some plants bloom twice during the summer, for example, daisies, lupins, delphiniums, primroses.

Flowers on a mixborder should bloom alternately

Options for mixborders

When thinking about how to arrange a mixborder near the house, it is advisable to look at photos of flower beds. You don’t have to copy them completely, you just need to learn some decorating techniques.

Mixborder No. 1:

  • back row - in the center - a beautiful white hellebore, on the sides of it - asters, on the edges - hollyhocks;
  • middle row - lush roses, irises and daffodils;
  • the first row is a pretty carnation.

Mixborder No. 2 (design suitable for location near a fence):

  • back row - morning glory and clematis climbing along the support;
  • middle row - blue delphinium and echinacea;
  • front row - urban lily of the valley.

Option for planting plants in a mixborder

Flower beds in front of the house and under the window

In front of the house, an oval or round flowerbed with an area of 1x1.5 m will look very good. What plants to choose so that immediately after leaving the room you will be immersed in wonderful aromas and bright colors? It all depends on individual taste preferences. For example, you can place a large plant in the center - phlox, rose bush, peony, and from it “spread” circles of smaller flowers:

  • first circle (from the center) – Siberian irises, fassena catnip and sage;
  • second - daffodils, tulips;
  • third - crocuses, muscari, scillas.

The flower garden in front of the house is always nearby

When arranging a flowerbed with your own hands in front of a window in a private courtyard, you should take into account not only the appearance of the flowers, but also their aromas. In the summer, when the sun sets and the coolness of the night falls, it is incredibly pleasant to inhale delicate aromas that acquire a special richness. One of the possible options is to place low plants (up to 20cm) around the perimeter of the flowerbed, increasing their height as they move towards the center, where there may be flowers reaching 40-70cm in length. The optimal set is fragrant violet, paniculate phlox, daylily, peonies.

Another way to organize a flower bed in front of a window is simple and elegant. You can plant lavender with a soothing aroma on the periphery, and bright yellow echinacea in the center.

Tall flowers should be planted in the center or in the background of the flowerbed.

In the shade by the fence

When planning a flower bed in the shade near a fence or wall of a private house, it is worth finding out in advance whether there is always no sun in this place. The fact is that there are more breeds that tolerate partial shade well than those that do not like sunlight at all. The second important point is soil moisture. Some plants are suitable for dry soil in the shade, and others for wet soil. Perennial species that do not need sun include sedges, lilies, hosts, crows, mountain weeds, ferns, Rogers, martagons, arizema and others.

You can create a composition like this. Plant a tall mock orange near the fence. Foxglove flowers will look great against the background of mock orange. Their pink calyxes are collected in an inflorescence in the form of a brush up to 85 cm long. Foxglove grows for two years and can reach 150cm in height; it blooms between June and July.

Next, it is worth placing several small groups of perennial lupine. It has very distinctive finger-shaped foliage on elongated petioles, but the pale yellow flowers look unattractive when withered. They should be planted behind other plants in the depths.

The sun's rays in the shade will be replaced by the narrow curved leaves of the Golden Zebra daylily, which are decorated with stripes of yellow and green. The buds of the plant are also yellow. Unfortunately, they are not very beautiful; they can be removed immediately.

Shade-loving plants are planted in places with limited light.

In the foreground you should plant the cuff in the company of bergenia. The latter has leathery, lacquered, dark green, large leaves that go well with the drooping, rounded foliage of the mantle. Its flowers are pale, yellow-green in color, they are collected in small inflorescences of a vague shape. Mantle blooms all summer.

Another way to design a flowerbed in the shade is to use conifers, including fir, spruce, some types of juniper, thuja, and Canadian hemlock. They can be supplemented with deciduous shrubs that do not need sun. These include hawthorn, derain, elderberry and others.

A flowerbed of conifers is an excellent option for a private house, in which, unlike a summer cottage, people live permanently. This element of landscape design will decorate the area all year round. You can find ideas for decoration by looking at the photo.

Complex composition

When decorating a fence or wall over a large area, you can create a complex plant combination consisting of five stripes of trees and bushes. The rocks should be placed symmetrically, adjusting the density and quantity in accordance with the area of the site.

A flowerbed of conifers - an uninhabited island on the lawn

Subsequence:

  • the first (distant) line is the middle juniper in the center, on the sides of it with a 1m indentation are the western Holmstrup thujas, then the Tenberg barberries and rock junipers;
  • the second is horizontal juniper Blue Chip;
  • the third - opposite the thuja from the first line - Europe Gold thuja, the rest of the space - Japanese spirea;
  • fourth - western thuja Globos and juniper Prince of Wales;
  • fifth - the same plants as in the fourth line, as well as Morrowa sedge and similar cereal species.

Compact options

If it is necessary to delimit the area, you can make a cascading hedge of conifers, consisting of two rows. It will decorate and improve even a small area. Subsequence:

  • behind – prickly spruce and Chinese juniper;
  • in front - oriental thuja, medium and coastal juniper, low-growing spruce.

A few conifers near the house will provide a unique aroma

If there is a small free area, it is worth organizing a compact green flower bed with a pine aroma. It will require only three types of plants - coastal juniper, western thuja and mountain pine. Pine and thuja can be located in the center, framed by juniper bushes.

A beautiful, well-groomed area near the house attracts attention at any time of the year, giving special pleasure in the summer, when everything is blooming and fragrant. Let's figure it out: how to decorate your yard so that your neighbors will envy and you will admire.

First, decide what the concept of “beautiful yard” means to you? The set of decorations for a private plot largely depends on your lifestyle and habits

To begin, prepare a schematic plan of your territory with dimensions. This will help you accurately plan the location of flower beds, decorative ponds, lawns and other decorations, especially since you have the opportunity to experiment with different variations.

Site improvement project

The landscape design of the yard should delight you and your guests

Determine your preferences: you want a minimalist design with a neat lawn, or an abundance of flower beds, arches, and bushes that bloom throughout the warm season. Flowers require special attention; caring for them always requires certain labor costs. Before planting flowers, you need to dig up the designated areas and remove weeds. If possible, the bed of the flowerbed is covered with a drainage layer of sand 10-15 centimeters high, and soil with fertilizer is laid on top. Then we moisten it well so that the earth settles. The soil for planting is ready.

Flower beds and flower beds

In landscape design, free flower beds represent a mass planting of a variety of plants to suit your taste, without any borders. However, they are definitely needed for a neat appearance. Enclose with edges made of plastic, wood, stones, or fill the edge with fine gravel.

It is important to properly organize the placement of flower beds and planting of perennial plants

You can decorate your yard with your own hands using the following types of flower beds.

  • Flower garden borders are placed along paths, walls, and fences. Usually low-growing flowers are used, one or two types that do not stand out too much (lavender, violets, navel, lupine).
  • Mixed border (mixborder) - differs from the border in its planting pattern. Flowers are planted singly, in groups of different heights, in colored spots. Moreover, plants are chosen with different flowering periods, providing diversity from spring to autumn.
  • Rabatka is a rectangular ridge along paths, gazebos, and fences. The planting is lined with flowers of different heights: the near part is made up of low plants, and the distant ones are higher. In a symmetrical version, tall plants are in the middle, low along the edge.
  • Front garden is a strip of land separating a house from the road. Choose bushes and perennials for this place, the main thing is that it looks equally good both from the road and from the window. Fragrant lilac, jasmine, tea rose will fill the house with aromas, protecting it from dust or heat.

The design of the area being developed should be in harmony with the house itself

Flower beds can also be made in the form of various geometric shapes. Create waves of multi-colored tulips in the spring in the courtyard of a private house, or a fluttering colorful butterfly of marigolds, nasturtiums, and asters.

Flowerbeds have a shape and a frame. Their appearance is limited only by your imagination. Any container is suitable for a flower bed that will decorate the yard. All that remains is to paint and fill with soil. They use old tires painted in different colors, a watering can with holes lying around for many years, baskets, furniture, plastic products, even dishes.

Plan planting flowers so that the flowering of some is followed by the flowering of other varieties

In the depths of the courtyard of a private house you can create a small rock garden. This trend came to us from Japan. Choose stones in shape and color that are most in harmony with the overall composition. They create a long-lasting environment for your plants. Place them on the site as they would look in nature, or lay them out according to the chosen pattern.

If the size of the plot allows, you can place a small oriental-style rock garden in a secluded corner.

Shrub trimming

Another decoration of the yard is the topiary bushes. You will have to shape it using garden shears, pruners or loppers. Anyone can make the simplest shapes (ball, rectangle) with their own hands. It is worth remembering that processing will have to be done constantly. A missed pruning season will require 2-3 years to restore the result, and coniferous shrubs, which are pleasing all year round, cannot be restored.

The results of trimming bushes can be a variety of shapes - abstract, geometric or depicting animals and people

Topiary shrubs are great for creating a “living” fence for a summer cottage

If you have the skill of cutting, you will get neat bushes in the shape of some animal or, for example, a heart.

Reservoirs on the site

A pool, fountain or waterfall creates the desired freshness and coolness in the courtyard of a private house on hot summer days. The sound of falling water and the shade of the garden are relaxing.

Even a small pond or fountain will add an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility to your patio design

A wonderful decoration of the yard will be a Chinese-style pond with concrete tiles in the form of islands

Creating a pond will not be difficult. You can buy ready-made pallets, pumps and systems. For decoration, use river stones, broken tiles, and tiles. Place a bench or deck chair nearby and you will have your own park on the site. A small waterfall will organically complement the rock garden.

Alcove

The main gathering place for the family for cozy evening gatherings is the gazebo. They come in the following types.

  • Open. This is a system of perimeter pillars holding up a lightweight roof. Most often, the frame is made of metal rods or wooden posts.
  • Closed. Small houses with windows and doors, which allows them to be used all year round in any weather.

Modern open-type gazebo in the courtyard of a private house

In a closed gazebo you can organize a full-fledged summer kitchen

Choose a gazebo depending on the size of your site. A closed design is more suitable for large areas, as it looks quite massive. An open one is a wonderful decoration for a yard of any size. Thanks to its lightness and airiness, it does not clutter up the space.

Semi-open gazebos with several walls and a roof are popular

A frame decorated with climbing plants will create shade and coolness inside. By choosing a variety of climbing roses, you will get lush blooms throughout the summer.

Light metal gazebo with climbing plants

The title of the most romantic gazebos rightfully belongs to tents. Fabric flowing in the wind and wicker furniture will add a unique look to your space.

Paths and steps

Sturdy walkways are required for ease of movement. They can be made from many materials (tiles, stones, rubber), or you can make them yourself using liquid molds of various designs.

For paths you can use natural stone or fine gravel

Concrete slab area in front of the main entrance

Rest area with gravel backfill

If your site is located on a slope or for decorative purposes, the path is combined with steps decorated with flowerpots and curly shrubs.

Lighting

At night, proper lighting is required, which, in addition to its practical purpose, will serve a decorative function. The multi-colored illumination of reservoirs at night looks very impressive. Hanging old glass bottles can be used to illuminate the gazebo, and decorate flower beds with decorative lanterns. Soft light will guide you safely through the area, creating an atmosphere of magic.

Beautiful lighting can transform an area beyond recognition

Lighting of the courtyard area has two functions - decorative and lighting.

Winter decorations

How to decorate your yard with your own hands in winter? Very simple. There are several ways to create a festive atmosphere on New Year's Eve.

Gift boxes with bows

Decorating a flower box under the window with fir branches and bright berries

  • Festive illumination. You will need a lot of street garlands; we wrap them around the branches of trees, bushes, and the facade of the house. You can also purchase ready-made luminous designs of deer, snowman or Santa Claus' New Year's sleigh.
  • Wreaths and garlands. Using pine branches, cones, rowan berries, and white paint, you can make your own Christmas wreath for the front door. Fir branches tied with red bows and Christmas balls can be used to decorate stair railings.
  • Boxes with gifts. You will need old boxes from household appliances, beautiful wrapping paper, and large bows.
  • Lollipops. Using a piece of water pipe and red and white duct tape, create giant candy canes in your area. Freeze water (with berries, cones, or simply with multi-colored dye) in various shapes, you will get beautiful “candy” for decorating paths.
  • Foam figures. Make a snowman, reindeer, or a bucket of snowballs.
  • Snow fortress and snowman. Build a snow fortress with your children, make ice colored glass, put up several lanterns, tie a scarf for the snowman - the New Year's fairy tale is ready.

You can take old flowerpots and decorate them with twigs, cones, ribbons and balls

A simple and effective holiday decoration option - hanging flowerpots with fir branches and New Year's toys

    THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.

        What is valuable in your articles is your personal attitude and analysis of the topic. Don't give up this blog, I come here often. There should be a lot of us like that. Email me I recently received an email with an offer that they would teach me how to trade on Amazon and eBay. And I remembered your detailed articles about these trades. area I re-read everything again and concluded that the courses are a scam. I haven't bought anything on eBay yet. I am not from Russia, but from Kazakhstan (Almaty). But we also don’t need any extra expenses yet. I wish you good luck and stay safe in Asia.

  • It’s also nice that eBay’s attempts to Russify the interface for users from Russia and the CIS countries have begun to bear fruit.
