Even if you take very good care of your upholstered furniture, over time, the upholstery wears out, and the same color or pattern gets boring.

Using patterns, you can sew a cover that will protect the chair from dirt and damage.

The cost of reupholstering furniture is quite high, so the best option interior renovation will include sewing a new chair cover.

Before sewing a cover, choose a fabric and carefully inspect the room. The same principle applies to the choice of fabric for furniture as to the choice of a bag in a woman's wardrobe: one noticeable central detail sets the tone for the entire wardrobe. The same is true with furniture, for example, expensive covers made of genuine leather will not look good in a modest interior with chintz curtains. Cheerful floral colors in a room with expensive parquet and stretch ceilings. Conclusion - everything in the interior should match and harmoniously complement it.

When choosing a fabric, you should pay attention to its strength and wear resistance.. Please note that the cover will be subject to daily stress, and it is much easier to sew thick fabric, since it does not wrinkle. You should not take material with large floral or geometric prints, especially for beginner seamstresses. There is a possibility that you simply cannot cope with the adjustment of the pattern and design; the covers will look ugly. When cutting the cover, you should not waste time. The best skill, especially for inexperienced needlewomen, will be practice cutting and then sewing a cover from an old sheet or other large piece of suitable fabric. This way you can deal with difficult aspects of the work, gain experience so as not to spoil expensive fabric, from which the covers will be sewn.

Measurements and calculations

Today, the choice of furniture is characterized by a variety of shapes and configurations, so it is necessary to measure the chair and calculate the required footage of fabric directly on the chair. When choosing a model, you first need to decide where the seams of the future cover will be located. The easiest way is to make the seams in place of the actual upholstery seams of the chair, then the cover will repeat the shape of the chair with the greatest accuracy. If you decide to radically change the style of the chair and make additions in the form of frills, folds and other adjustments, you can apply seam markings directly to the upholstery. This is best done with a small piece of soap. Immediately take into account all the curves, inserts that add thickness, and silhouette contours (Figure 1).

It is necessary to carefully measure all parts of the chair (seats, backs, pillows, armrests, borders) and write down all the numbers. If you mean a lush frill, then to calculate the length you need to multiply the perimeter of the chair by 2. To avoid confusion, write down the part number, length, width and depth (Figure 2).

Rice. 3. The outer part of the backrest is unfolded, applied to the back of the chair and pinned.

When calculating the yardage of fabric, be sure to allow allowance for pintucks and undercuts. Without them, you will not achieve a perfect fit; you need to take into account folds, hems and frills. In addition to the seam allowances, add about 20 cm of fabric to each individual element cover, this is necessary for overlaps and subsequent adjustment of the product. If you are dealing with details unusual shape, then they can be measured by applying strong thin paper and then compressing it completely. The folds are additionally outlined with a pencil. The resulting paper form must be cut along the lines and placed in place for comparison. An exact similarity is not necessary; to obtain a general pattern of the part, an approximate pattern of a non-standard element of the chair will suit you. A more thorough adjustment will be made on site. After the measurements have been taken, you need to transfer the patterns of all the parts of the chair onto graph paper and calculate the final fabric consumption.

To sew a chair cover yourself, you will need:

A piece of fabric for sewing a rough product (unnecessary sheet, inexpensive chintz);
thick fabric for a new cover;
scissors;
zipper, ruler, cm;
small piece soap, chalk, pencil (for markings on fabric);
needles, threads, safety pins;
graph paper;
sewing machine.

Rice. 4. On both sides of the armrest tuck line, stitches are made, which are marked on the outside of the backrest.

Patterns cut from paper must be carefully laid out on fabric in such a way that there is as little fabric waste as possible. Then the patterns should be attached to the fabric, pinned with safe pins and traced with chalk or a pencil. If you haven't made allowances for allowances, do it now. Then the parts are cut out and ironed. To connect the pattern elements of the armrest and the back, the cut out outer part of this back needs to be folded in half and mark the middle. After this, the part is unfolded, applied to the back of the chair and pinned. Don't forget to mark the lines for future seams. The actions with the elements of the inner back parts will be similar (Figure 3).

After these steps, both patterns must be folded and pinned along the top line of the chair. The fabric reserves on the upper corners and the inner pattern need to be folded back and neat undercuts should be formed. The grooves should be chipped, ensuring that the tension of the material is optimal. Excess fabric must be trimmed, leaving 5 cm on both sides. In the place where the back rests on the armrests, an internal pattern is cut out, small allowances (2-3 cm) are left and tucked into the gap between the armrests and the back. In the place where the backrest connects to the seat, a line is drawn for the seam.

Rice. 5. The armrest pattern is fastened to the seat element and a seam line connecting them is marked.

For both armrests, two patterns should be cut out - internal and external. The outer piece and the outer side must be pinned together, the fabric must be pre-folded, the longitudinal thread must be marked with a pencil. After this, you need to connect the outer back pattern and the armrest pattern, the edges should be located on the outside, after which you need to mark all future seam lines. It should be taken into account that the lower edge of the material should cover the seam of the future frill by about 1.5 cm. One side should lie on the protruding part of the armrest, the other on the back. The bottom edge of the pattern is placed on the seat. Then both parts of the armrest are chipped in front. Folds emanating from one point should be laid. The tucks on the outside of the armrest also need to be tucked in (they will hide all the excess fabric). There are seams on both sides of the pintuck line; they should also be marked on the outside of the back and inside the armrest part. WITH inside chairs, it is necessary to mark the joints. All actions with the second armrest are performed similarly (Figure 4).

But this is not always possible, so you still have to train using other methods. The craftsmen also invite us to make a trial product using the lessons how to sew a sofa cover, video with which they are posted on many handicraft blogs, both foreign and domestic. After the test drive is completed, the test product is unsealed and all its parts are used for cutting on more expensive fabric, as parts of a pattern on a 1:1 scale. Then, after use, you can use this fabric on a pillowcase or for other needs.

In this case, the cape will be of a very simple shape, and for decoration, frills and flounces are used, which are sewn on the underside of the furniture.

It is this model that is also used to create standard garden ones, which definitely need a cover, since they always stand in the open air and often get dirty.

How to sew a cover for sofas and armchairs

The standard procedure should start with a measurement, no matter what you plan to do. This is also used in how to sew a cover for sofas, armchairs or even chairs. After all, we have all seen elegant chair capes at formal banquets, and all of the methods listed below can be used in this case. The simplest, but very effective way build a pattern - draw your chair or sofa and break it into simple rectangles. If the product is small, then you can use one rectangle of fabric for the back and seat, but in most cases you will have to cut out these parts separately.

Using the dimensions of all the rectangles, transfer them onto special pattern paper. It has an adhesive base, so it will be much more convenient to work on it than pinning tracing paper to the surface of the fabric. Between all the rectangles you need to leave allowances, the value of which will be 5-6 centimeters, depending on how confident you are in your sewing skills. Extra centimeters you can always trim during the process finishing connection details. The process is not very creative, in fact, and is very reminiscent of a DIY task - the same strict geometric shapes and simple seams. This stage of the process how to sew a sofa cover photo, found on the Internet, will illustrate it in sufficient detail.

Sew all the cut out rectangles together with the seams facing out and try them on the furniture you need. You will see whether the fabric is tightly seated, whether somewhere you need to loosen the seam more, and somewhere, on the contrary, you can hem it so that the fit is perfect. Only after such fitting can you begin from basting to full stitching of all the details.

How to sew a cover for a corner sofa

Before we touch on the topic, how to sew a cover for corner sofa , we must talk about such an important aspect as choice the right fabric for this purpose. After all, in fact, not every one is suitable for becoming a comfortable and practical cape, and not every one will be able to work effectively with you right the first time.

It is believed that two extremes should not be used - too light fabric, which requires additional processing and does not hold its shape well on its own, as well as heavy upholstery fabric, which is used directly for furniture production. Light materials include, first of all, satin, chiffon, and artificial silk. No matter how beautiful capes made from such materials look, it’s better to leave them for creating dresses, it’s impractical and difficult to make. But many people mistakenly consider upholstery material to be ideal precisely because it is used for furniture production for covering structures, which means it must be used for covers as well. But the upholstery is fixed to the surface using a furniture stapler, nails, and stretched well, literally piece by piece. So this fabric is absolutely not elastic, you will not be able to stretch it on each armrest yourself, and from time to time you will have to remove the product for washing and cleaning. That is why it is better to choose the golden mean - a dense, medium-elastic material, preferably with a special impregnation, which will allow the surface of the furniture to remain clean for as long as possible. Before cutting, it is advisable to wash, dry and iron any fabric in order to provide for possible shrinkage of the finished product, which can ruin all your work after the first wash.

The peculiarity of the corner sofa is that we will need to cut out a few more rectangular parts. If we compared the previous procedure with sewing half-shells, then this can be equated to the ability to make, that is, the shape remains geometrically correct, but each part consists of several. You can see the instructions how to sew covers for a corner sofa. Photo demonstrate what the layout should be in order to pack all the right angles.

It is worth spending more time and sewing each seam, treating it with non-woven tape from the inside so that it is clear and even, only then you will get the ideal geometry for the sofa complex shape and it will not look as if a blanket was thrown over it and straightened out a little around the edges. To make the fabric fit more tightly, you can provide a zipper on the back of the sofa to make it easier to remove and put the fabric back on.

How to sew covers for sofa armrests

Often, if you have already bought furniture with high-quality and expensive upholstery, you do not want to hide it under layers of bedspreads and other materials. It’s not for nothing that you ran around all the stores in the city and looked through hundreds of catalogs, trying to match the color of the upholstery with the wallpaper or floor covering. Therefore, you may want to protect only the most vulnerable and quickly dirty parts, such as armrests.

Moreover, if you know how to sew covers for sofa armrests, then you can change them as often as pillowcases sofa cushions, timing the new upholstery, for example, for Halloween, with pumpkins or black cats, by choosing fabric with small cockerels and chicks, rather than Valentine’s Day - with hearts and flowers.

Since the armrests themselves are quite rounded, the fabric with them can peel off very quickly if it is not secured. In a large case, the parts hold each other, but here you need to provide an autonomous fastening. For it, you can use an elastic band or ribbons that are sewn on the sides and tied with bows, which is additional decorative element. In addition, you can use Velcro as fasteners, but it is better to always place them under the bottom of the armrest, since from above, with constant contact, the Velcro will get very dirty and will have to be changed often.

How to sew a sofa cover with elastic

We are already accustomed to convenient fastening on an elastic band, which is used, in particular, for making bed linen. You can use this technology and learn, how to sew a sofa cover with elastic.

A rubber strap is sewn into the bottom of the already sewn cover and it is this that helps keep the fabric in place even when several people are sitting on the seat. The undoubted advantage of elastic bands for fastening is that ready product You can put it on and off the sofa for cleaning and washing in literally a matter of seconds.

You can find such products in master classes by the name that is assigned to them in “folklore” - Eurocase. In fact, such specific products from elastic material were once produced by Italian factory“Ga.i.Co.”, in the image and likeness of whose cases other manufacturers began to produce products. But since this is a rather expensive purchase, craftswomen have also learned to do such things on their own, especially since elastic crinkled fabric, which is ideal for this, is also not a problem today to buy in a fabric store or order online.

Since the fabric is quite elastic, it is sewn according to a general pattern without dividing it into small individual parts. And after the front and back parts are sewn, the stretch fabric is simply stretched onto the surface of the sofa, tucked a little in between the seat, back and armrests to form the appearance of the furniture, and hangs down with a nice fringe.

DIY chair cover.

For making one cover for an armchair or sofa with your own hands you will need approximately 2.2 m of fabric (you can calculate a more accurate amount only after you take measurements of the chair and draw patterns), thread suitable color and sewing pins. Take the fabric quite dense so that it wrinkles less and does not wrinkle. If you are going to sew chair covers for the first time, you should not choose fabric with a pattern, especially a large one, otherwise you will have difficulty adjusting it.

We sew chair covers.

1) So let's begin. Tailor's centimeter measure the chair. Draw an approximate pattern of the cover and mark all the dimensions on it (length and width of the seat, back and armrest). Draw patterns on graph paper or plain newspaper, adding 10-20 cm on each side - these allowances are needed so that you have enough margin for adjustment during the sewing process. Of course, an experienced seamstress may not need patterns - she will be able to immediately mark them on the fabric. But a novice seamstress will feel more confident if she sews trial case made of inexpensive fabric (an old sheet will do just fine for this purpose).

2) Lay out the patterns on the fabric and trace them with tailor's chalk or a thin, dry piece of soap.
In order not to complicate your work, make the main part of the cover one piece (the one that will cover the back and seat). Armrests can usually also be cut from whole piece fabric: to do this, fold the fabric in half and cut out the parts according to the pattern. If your armchairs, wide armrests, voluminous, calculate and cut the inserts in the center (usually they are made when the thickness of the armrest is over 8 cm). Sweep away the cut parts. Place the resulting “draft” of the cover on the chair and carefully smooth it with your hands along all the seams, depressions and bends. The allowances left during cutting will allow you to adjust the cover so that it fits tightly to the chair; If necessary, mark and pin darts or pintucks.

3) Try on the resulting workpiece on second chair and try to find a “golden mean”, remembering that you need to sew two covers that will fit equally well on both chairs. As a rule, the sizes are the same and there is no need to specially adjust the cover for the second chair.

4) Proceed directly to sewing. First, sew and iron stitches or tucks on all parts. Then sew the parts of the armrests of the chair. Before turning them right side out, make a cut in the corners, not reaching 0.5 cm from the seam - this will make them look neater. Fold the main part of the case with the parts armrests with the right sides facing inward, carefully baste them and stitch them together. Zigzag all seams. Now turn up the bottom edge of the cover by 4 cm, iron and hem. Sew the second chair cover in the same way. Turn both covers right side out and place them on the chairs. Ready! Taking advantage of our useful tips, all you have to do is admire the results of your labor. The chair is now like new!

To sew covers for armchairs and sofas you will need: special muslin for the pattern, the required size of upholstery fabric, cord for piping, several zippers, one for the cover for the chair and two for the sofa. The zipper must be 2.5 cm smaller than on the outer side of the back side seam; to add volume, you will need padding material, as well as polyurethane tape, which should be cut into 5 cm strips; pins or special furniture clips, with which you can fasten covers on furniture.

Step-by-step instructions on how to make a pattern for a sofa or chair:

1. Remove the pillows from the chair or sofa and measure the outer side of the back between the seam lines, be sure to add about 10 cm to these measurements and cut the muslin of the appropriate size. Make a mark on the center line of the pattern on the outside of the back and only along the longitudinal thread. Next, lay the muslin on a chair or sofa, iron it and mark the seam lines.

2. Measure the length of the inside of the back between the seam lines and add another 25.5 cm in length and 38 cm in width to these measurements, cut off a piece of muslin required size. It is imperative to leave 15 cm in reserve on the bottom of the part. Be sure to mark the center line of the pattern on the inside of the back along the longitudinal thread.

3. The next step is to combine the patterns of the chair cover on the inner and outer sides of the backrest exclusively along its upper edge. Fold back the excess fabric on the inside of the back upper corners so that the necessary darts are formed. Then fasten.

4. Cut off the excess fabric on the sides of the resulting pattern for the inside of the back, making sure to leave 5 cm. Cut the muslin exactly in the place where the pattern fits snugly against the armrests so that it lies flat. Tuck in about 1.3-1.5 cm of fabric where the gaps are on the sides and in the lower part of the back, mark the seam lines.

Pattern for a chair armrest with folds

1. Measure the outer side of the armrest only between the seam lines, add 7-7.5 cm each, cut off a piece of muslin of the required size. Mark the longitudinal thread. Pin the pattern in place from the outside so that the entire longitudinal thread necessarily runs perpendicular to the floor, and the lower part of the edge extends 1.3-1.5 cm beyond the seam line that runs along the upper edge of the frill. Iron the fabric straight from bottom to top and pin. Pin together the outer sides of the armrest and backrest patterns. Mark the seam line.

2. Take a measurement of the inside of the armrest cover from the seat itself to the seam line located on the top edge on the outside and starting from the inside of the backrest and ending with the front of the armrest. Add approximately 23 cm and cut a piece of muslin to the required size. Mark the longitudinal thread. Pin the pattern from the inside of the armrest into place so that it overlaps 18-18.5 cm inner part this backrest, and the longitudinal thread was located strictly across the armrest. Next, iron the fabric on the armrest of the future pattern.

3. Pin together the patterns for the outer and inner sides of the armrest of the chair in front. Fold all the resulting folds on the rounded part of the armrest. Folds in mandatory must diverge from only one point.

4. Place tucks on the inside of the armrest back side chairs in such a way that all excess fabric goes into them and, if necessary, cut the pattern from the inside of the armrest. Mark a seam line at the very beginning and end of the tucks on the inside of the armrest and on the outside of the back.

5. Mark where the inner sides of the backrest and armrest are with large bold dots. Tuck approximately 1.3 cm of fabric into the gap between the backrest and the seat/chair.

6. Smooth out the fabric and mark all seam lines on the muslin with a pencil.

Pattern of a cover for an armchair and seat

1. Measure the width and length of the front of the seat, including the front edge of the chair to the seam of the frill and add 23 cm in length to this data, then cut a piece of muslin. Mark the center line on the muslin, being sure to follow the thread of the fabric and draw a seam line on the muslin, leaving 1.3 cm from the very edge.

2. Pin the muslin to the chair or sofa, aligning the marked line on the seam of the frill with the piping, and the line in the center with the center of the intended frill. Iron a piece of muslin on the front edge and on the seat, then combine center lines backs and seats.

3. Mark the patterns on the inside of the armrest and seat with large bold dots where the seat should meet the front of the inside of the armrest. For a sofa with pillows that resemble the shape of the letter “T,” cut the excess fabric exactly to these points. Fold the excess fabric along the front corners of the seat to create darts. Pin and mark seam lines.

4. Pin the seat pattern with the pattern outside armrest on one of the sides and mark the seam line. Tuck approximately 1.3 cm of fabric into the resulting gaps on the sides and back of the chair. Mark the seam lines.

Even in ancient times, chairs and armchairs were covered with covers, which was done not only from a practical point of view (the cover could always be removed and washed), but also from an aesthetic point of view.

Modern needlewomen have come up with new covers to give new life old armchairs and chairs. We invite you to learn this skill too. Our master class will help you with this, which will tell you how to sew a cover for a chair yourself.

First you need to prepare a simple cotton fabric, sewing pins, a sewing machine, buttons and everything necessary tools for sewing.

Please note that all cotton fabrics shrink after washing, so this should be taken into account when cutting and sewing. As a result, you should get a cover with dimensions ten percent larger than that of the chair.

This master class uses an old chair like this.

We begin the construction process, for which you should throw a fabric over the back of the chair. If the back of the chair widens, it is recommended to make a similar fold in the center as in the photo.

You should also know that the fabric should be applied in in this case the front side to the chair, that is, the wrong side out.

We pin and baste all the main seams and trim the unnecessary fabric right on the chair.

Do not forget to leave allowances for seams and for shrinkage of the fabric itself after washing.

We begin to cut out parts from the facing fabric that are approximately similar to the elements of the chair.

These parts should be fixed to the chair using pins. We also apply it inside out.

Gradually we reach the side parts of the chair.

Feel free to play with fabric on all the elements of the chair; if you need recesses or assembly, don’t be afraid to do them.

After all this work, you can begin to sew the received and intended seams on the machine. When the cover is turned right side out and put on the chair, the latter will be transformed as follows.

For decoration, you can sew a small ruffle to this cover along the bottom edge.

In addition, for ease of removal/putting on, you can make such a fastener on the back, decorating it as shown in the photo.

Really, it turned out to be a nice chair!

Yours computer chair Has it worn out and lost its visual appeal? Don't rush to buy new! This problem can be solved using a cover. Sewing it will not be difficult. In our article we will describe in detail several ways to sew a chair cover with your own hands. With the help of a cover you will not only hide the shortcomings of the chair, but will add something new to your interior. Another plus in favor of the covers is that if you get them dirty, you can take them off and wash them. You can also sew several different options, and change them as you want.

DIY computer chair cover

There is no single pattern for a case, since now each manufacturer makes some additions and changes to each model. You will make the pattern yourself, based on the configuration of your chair.

Important! If you are sewing a cover for the first time and doubt your abilities. Take some old scrap fabric to sew a test cover for your computer chair with your own hands and gain the skills.

Tools and materials

First you need to prepare the fabric and tools you will need:

  • fabric - choose thicker so that it does not wear out too quickly, color and texture - to your taste;
  • centimeter and scissors;
  • pencil, marker, chalk;
  • pins, needles, threads;
  • zipper, elastic band;
  • tracing paper, graph paper, polyethylene film(maybe not new, but clean);
  • sewing machine.

Fabric consumption calculation

To correctly calculate the fabric consumption to sew a cover for a computer chair with your own hands, you need:

  1. Measure all the parts one by one (width and length), in centimeters.
  2. Write down the readings on a piece of paper, adding 2 cm for allowances to each reading.
  3. Calculate the sum for width and length separately.
  4. Based on the width of the fabric, calculate required quantity, adding another 20 cm for the overlap.

Before you start working directly on the instructions, take note of a few practical advice, which will make the process easier for you and allow you to more accurately make a cover for a computer chair with your own hands.

If this is your first time making a pattern yourself, make sure it is correct. Necessary:

  1. Transfer the pattern to an old sheet or duvet cover.
  2. Cut and baste.
  3. Place the resulting cover on the chair.

Important! Use pins to adjust your pattern, bringing it to perfection.

The fabric for the cover must be washed at the recommended rate, dried, ironed, and it will shrink. There will be no need to add centimeters in the future.

In order not to get confused in the patterns, it is better to immediately sign the individual parts. For example: “inner backrest”.

Material that frays a lot needs to be processed with an overlock or zigzag stitch.

Method 1 - Step-by-step sewing plan

To begin with, we will describe a method that even a novice tailor can handle. You won't spend a lot of time and effort on it. And the result will please not only you, but also your household.

Disassemble the chair into its component parts:

  • The back.
  • Seat.
  • Armrests.

Make a pattern for each part:

  1. Measure the piece and draw on the wrong side of the fabric or tracing paper.

Important! By making a drawing on tracing paper, you will get a more accurate copy of the cover.

  1. Cut out and transfer to fabric.

Important! You need to pay attention to the direction of the threads on the fabric to avoid distortions. Don't forget to allow seam allowances.

  1. Make allowances around the entire circumference of 9 cm.
  2. Cut out pieces from fabric.

Important! When doing this, take into account the corners and curves of the parts.

Sewing a cover

To make sure your DIY computer chair cover fits perfectly on the base of the chair:

  1. We process the edges of the parts with an overlock or zigzag stitch.
  2. From the inside, we bend 1.5 cm inward, pinning with tailor's pins or basting with thread.
  3. Sew with an even stitch, departing 3-4 mm from the edge of the hem. You still need to leave a gap of 2-3 cm to retract the elastic.
  4. We pull the required amount of elastic into each part and secure the joints.
  5. We put ready-made covers on each element of the chair.
  6. Assembling the chair.

Method 2

This method can be handled by a seamstress who has experience not only in sewing, but also in cutting. We will tell you in detail about the nuances in the cut of the cover, tight-fitting with zippers, which will be a single whole (seat, back, and side parts - everything is sewn into a single cover).

Important! Your cover will follow the shape of the chair, and the stitching on it will also follow the stitching on the chair. We sew two zippers into the side seams and one on the bottom. With their help you will easily remove the cover.

Make a pattern

In this case, we need an accurate pattern. To make it faster, we need polyethylene, about 1-1.5 m. Next we need:

  • take a piece of film and apply it to the part of the chair limited by the seams;
  • level the film so that it lies as evenly as possible;
  • secure with pins near the seams;
  • Use a marker to outline the contours along the seams (on the film).

Important! With a symmetrical part, you can immediately check whether you have drawn it correctly. Just fold it in half - ideally the edges should match. If the differences are small, then circle along the middle contour. And if they are very different, it means the pattern was copied incorrectly and needs to be redone.

The chair has a round shape. Of course, a problem will arise - the film will not fit tightly, and accordingly, it will not lie flat. That's why:

  1. It is necessary to straighten it out on level ground, securing it with pins.
  2. Gather the free part into folds, securing with pins so that the film lies flat.
  3. The sweets can be stitched with darts or folds as you wish.

Important! Save the pattern - you can sew more than one cover for your favorite chair.

Determining the amount of fabric

In order not to buy excess fabric, which can be by no means cheap, and the cover for your computer chair with your own hands turns out beautiful, you need to correctly take all the measurements of the fabric. To do this you should%

  1. Place the patterns on the floor or carpet according to the width of the intended fabric.

Important! When laying out, take into account the direction of the grain thread, seam allowances, and the specularity of some parts.

  1. Measure the resulting length and add 20 cm for material shrinkage.

Important! Buy the material in specialized stores. Be sure to ask at what temperature this fabric can be washed. Do not use flocked fabrics - they will peel when washed.

Fabric cutting:

  1. Lay the fabric out on a flat surface.
  2. Place the pattern pieces and pin them in place.
  3. Make seam allowances of 1.5 cm.
  4. Trace with a simple pencil.
  5. Cut it out.

Your parts are ready. Let's move on to the next stage.

We sew a cover for a chair:

  1. We sweep the middle inner part with the side elements.
  2. We try on the decor of the chair, thoroughly examining whether the cover fits tightly on the computer chair. If the fabric bristles in any places, you need to remove the defect using darts.
  3. We remove our parts, make adjustments, and smoothly bend the fabric to the edge symmetrically on both sides.
  4. We sew the seams with a machine in the following sequence:
    • machine sew the seam with a straight stitch;
    • cut 0.5 cm from the seam allowance from the edge of one side;
    • Fold the cut allowance uncut, stitch along the seam, retreating 2-3 mm.

Important! On the front side, the delay will look good if all the lines are symmetrical.

  1. We assemble the outer elements of the back and sides in the same sequence, only along the seams of the connections of the central part and sides you need to sew in zippers.

Important! You need to sew in zippers 3-5 cm from the edge, because when connecting the inner and outside The cover will have a very thick and ugly seam.

    THANK YOU so much for the very useful information in the article. Everything is presented very clearly. It feels like a lot of work has been done to analyze the operation of the eBay store

    • Thank you and other regular readers of my blog. Without you, I would not be motivated enough to dedicate much time to maintaining this site. My brain is structured this way: I like to dig deep, systematize scattered data, try things that no one has done before or looked at from this angle. It’s a pity that our compatriots have no time for shopping on eBay because of the crisis in Russia. They buy from Aliexpress from China, since goods there are much cheaper (often at the expense of quality). But online auctions eBay, Amazon, ETSY will easily give the Chinese a head start in the range of branded items, vintage items, handmade items and various ethnic goods.
