How to make a pipe (in Minecraft)?

Pipes play a very important role in automation, crafting, transporting and storing resources in Minecraft. They connect to any vaults except the End chest. Some of the most complex mechanisms and structures are created with the help of pipes. Without their help, you will not be able to organize rapid extraction of materials, build an automated factory or mine. But, unfortunately, it is impossible to craft a pipe without installing mods.

From our article you will learn how to make a pipe in Minecraft.

Mods for creating pipes

There are a lot of industrial mods (such as Build Craft, Industrial Craft, Red Power, and so on) that help you create pipes. Build Craft is one of the most popular construction mods that adds pipes to the game. It distributes and transports various resources through pipes, and also adds various types mechanisms and engines. You can download it.

Types of pipes

Pipes that appear in the game after installing this mod are divided into three types:

  • transport pipes
  • waterproof pipes
  • electrical pipes

Transport pipes

Transportation pipes are created in the same way: glass is used as the basis for each pipe. On the sides of it there is the material necessary for crafting (that is, for creating, say, wooden pipe you will need one glass block and two wooden).

Types of transport pipes

Depending on the purpose, pipes of this type are divided into:

  • Wooden pipes (designed to remove objects from storage facilities and mechanisms. Direct recharge is required).
  • Stone pipes (transport objects. In automatic systems- this is the base pipe).
  • Cobblestone pipes (perform the function of transporting objects, but cope with their task rather slowly).
  • Quartz pipes ( best option pipes for moving objects, but quite expensive).
  • Golden pipes (give acceleration to the movement of objects passing through it).
  • Obsidian pipes (pick up lying objects. The range depends on the power supplied to the pipe).
  • Iron pipes (change the direction of movement of objects).
  • Diamond pipes (very convenient for sorting).

Waterproof pipes

Liquid (waterproof) pipes come in wood, iron, stone, cobblestone, emerald, gold, hollow and sandstone. They serve to transport liquids and have characteristics similar to transport ones in accordance with the material from which they are made. To craft a liquid pipe, you will need a transport pipe from the required raw materials and a sealant.

Electrical pipes

Motor (electrical pipes) pipes are designed to conduct energy. They are created from the appropriate transport pipe and one unit of redstone. Electrical pipes There are several types:

  • wooden (designed to remove energy from the engine or energy storage);
  • cobblestone (carry out up to 8 MJ/cycle);
  • quartz (up to 16 MJ/cycle);
  • stone (up to 64 MJ/cycle);
  • gold (up to 256 MJ/cycle);
  • diamond (up to 1024 MJ/cycle).

So for what to do suitable pipe in Minecraft, you must first assemble a transport pipe, and then make a liquid or propulsion pipe out of it, adding the necessary elements.

In the previous article, we looked at the types of engines and learned how energy is produced. This article will talk about pipes, their types and characteristics. And of course about why they are needed and how to use them.

Introduction

Pipes in Buildcraft are main feature fashion. They allow you to move almost any resource from one point to another. You can produce energy with engines in one place and deliver it through pipes to the required mechanism. Pipes can transport liquids to storage tanks. The tank blocks are connected vertically, one block holds 16 buckets, and is crafted from glass. And of course, you can transport objects through pipes. Here we will only touch on the main types of pipes; the rest are worth a separate article.

Pipes for items

Let's start with the pipes for the items. They are crafted from one block of glass and two units of material. For example, a wooden pipe will require a block of glass and 2 blocks of boards. The recipe is very simple, you can see it in the picture below.

In order for the item to fall into the pipe, you will need a wooden or obsidian pipe. Wooden – picks up items from the inventory block it is attached to, for example from a chest. However, it requires energy to operate. How more powerful engine, which you will use, the more items will be taken from the chest at a time. A wooden engine is best suited for this role; its speed will be enough for most of your needs. The obsidian pipe will pick up objects that are lying on the ground next to it, it does not require energy. If you attach a motor to it, the pickup radius will increase.

The main pipe is built from cobblestone, stone, quartz and sandstone. Crafting quartz pipes requires quartz blocks, not an item. It should be remembered that pipes made of cobblestone, stone, and quartz do not connect to each other; a sandstone pipe allows you to connect them, but does not connect to cars. This will allow you to lay the pipes as compactly as possible. After hitting the pipe, the item will move to its end, and will either fall into a chest or other block with inventory, or if there is no such block, or there is no room in it, it will fall to the ground.

Pipes for liquids

Waterproof pipes are used to transport liquids. They are made from ordinary ones by adding a sealant to them in the crafting window. The sealant is made from green dye.

A wooden pipe will work just as well, obsidian will not. If you want to pump liquid out of the world, use a pump (more on that in the next article). All types of pipes except diamond and obsidian can be made waterproof. Tanks are mentioned above. The golden pipe has the largest capacity.

Conductive pipes

Conductive pipes allow energy to move. While there is no place to store energy in Buildcraft, the ability to move it around is very useful. To craft a conductive pipe, you will need its regular version and redstone.

The wooden pipe works similarly here, with the difference that it is attached to the narrow side of the engine, and it will also be the supply. Without this pipe, you won't be able to do anything, and the engine may overheat and explode. The remaining types of pipes here are connected to each other without problems and differ in maximum throughput which is indicated in the table at the end of the article. If the pipe is not able to pass the flow of energy, then it turns red. With distance traveled, no more energy is lost, so you can make pipes of any length.

Conclusion

In this article, you learned how to move anything through pipes: objects, liquids, energy. Now playing Minecraft will become even more interesting. Using the recipes above you can craft pipes from different materials, and storing liquids in tanks is much more convenient than in natural environment or in buckets. We'll talk about liquids next time, namely how to extract oil and make fuel from it.

Modification BuildCraft 1.11.2/1.7.10 is a very large mod with a huge number of additions. The modification itself adds many mechanisms to automate the game. The BuildCraft mod will also add pipes for moving objects, liquids (such as water, lava, oil) and also for transporting energy between mechanisms. There is a huge selection of pipes, each of which is unique, and designed to transport a specific type of material. You can also move wooden blocks, cobblestone, stone. sandstone, iron, gold, emeralds and obsidian. Also, the pipes of the BuildCraft mod can be sealed and liquids and redstone can be moved into them.

Detailed description of the mechanisms of the BuildCraft mod:

Cars

There are many machines in BuildCraft that can be used to automate processes. All require Redstone Flux (RF) energy provided by one or more engines.

Career: This machine will process an area until it reaches lava or rock.
Production well: This machine will dig straight down until it reaches lava or rock. It is used in the manufacture of a pump.
Pump: This machine will pump liquids and transport them through waterproof pipes.
Autotraction table: This machine, if equipped with a recipe and ingredients, pumps out processed items. The adjacent chest will contain materials that will be used.
Refinery: This machine, powered by a stirred engine or better, will gradually convert oil into fuel, which is much more efficient at powering internal combustion engines than crude oil.
Tank: A simple stackable tank rather than a machine, it can store liquids including lava, water, oil and fuel.
Engines

Engines are used to power machines and construction workers. They can also be used to pull items out of your inventory using a wooden pipe. Other mods included in FTB, such as Forestry and Railcraft, add more engines to the game, for example. Electrical engine, which uses the power of IC2 (EC), and produces the power of MJ. The engines turn on when they are powered by redstone and slowly speed up as they heat up. If the engine overheats, it will explode. Redstone engines, however, cannot explode if they are connected to anything that receives energy, such as a wooden pipe.
Transport

Pipes are used to transport objects, liquids and energy between stores. There are 8 various types pipes with unique features: wood, cobblestone, stone, sandstone, iron, gold, and obsidian. Pipes can be combined with a waterproof pipe to allow them to make waterproof pipes that can transport liquids or with redstone to make conductive pipes to allow them to transport energy.
Building

All this will automate the construction and, in some cases, the destruction of blocks.

Filler: This machine performs various parameters depending on the template defined in the GUI.
Builder: This machine will build anything specified from a blueprint, provided it has access to the necessary resources, which it shows in its GUI.
Architects table. The architect table is used to copy the volume of interest and "scan" it and store it in the project for later use in the designer.
Blueprint: Used in the archive table to save the scanned area for later use in the designer. It stores the actual block type.
Template: Similar to a blueprint, this stores a description of the blocks within an area allowing it to be re-created by the builder, however the template only stores the location of the blocks, not its type.
Land Mark: You can use these to select an area for the architect table, as well as Quarry and Filler.
gates

Gates is BuildCraft's way of enabling advanced discovery and interaction. They are capable of many things, such as detecting engine heat, inventory, MJ energy storage, machine status, objects flowing in pipes, and redstone signals.
Gears

Gears are key components in BuildCraft and are used to create everything from engines to quarries to autogravity tables. They are available in 5 varieties that all build on each other. Other models add additional gears to the fashion package, such as Forestry, which adds tin, copper, and bronze gears to its machines, and Thermal Expansion also adds tin, copper gears, and Invar gears, however, none of these are used in the machines BuildCraft.
pipes

Wooden pipes are used to pull in items from supplies (or tanks, engines...). They don't connect to each other and they need Redstone Engine or better or Autarchic Gate to work. Wood pipes come in standard, waterproof and conductive versions. Wooden conductive pipes are what the motors must connect to in order to send energy elsewhere.
Cobblestone pipes are your main transport pipes. They do not connect to Stone Pipes, and are a very cheap means of obtaining items (only items, not liquids or energy). The material sent through the cobblestone pipes will slow down and eventually stop flowing.
Stone pipes are slightly better than Cobblestone and will not connect to them. They can be made into a waterproof or conductive tube, but they won't be as good as the gold versions. They will also experience drag and will eventually slow down if they travel distance on them, but it won't be as bad as with Cobblestone Pipes.
Sandstone pipes are not connected to machines. This makes them very useful for running a duct directly behind or under a machine that you don't want connected to your piping network.
Iron pipes are the beginning of your logical system. These are one-way pipes - items can come in any direction, but they can only go out in one direction. Break it with the key to change what the exit is on. Very useful when you have multiple machines all outputting to the same place, or when you have a "serial" setup.

Craft mod BuildCraft:

With the advent of the BuildCraft mod, curious devices appeared in the game - pipes. They serve as conductors of liquids, objects and energy. There are three types of devices:

  • To move objects.
  • For distribution of liquid materials.
  • For working (transporting and saving) with engine energy.

Transport pipes in Minecraft

There are twelve classes of "transporters". The table briefly describes their purpose. Eleven are described in it, but another one has appeared - lapis lazuli. It colors those things that pass through it in the required color. You can adjust the color using a wrench and RMB.

All t. are incomplete transparent blocks that can be combined. When connecting to certain containers, you need to remember that the side of the connection matters. For example, in order to load fuel into the stove, it is placed from below, so that the object (for remelting) is loaded there - from above, and in order to remove it - from the side.

Liquid pipes in Minecraft

These Minecraft pipes are also incomplete and transparent. They also “tend” to unite with each other. There are eight modifications of the T., designed for transporting liquids: from the wooden one, which is used to extract materials from mechanisms and tanks, to the emerald one, intended for the same thing, but capable of being controlled faster. However, all attention to the table.

Last type

Propulsion systems extract energy from containers and engines and conduct it. There are six in BC.

With the help of such devices, energy can also be stored. To do this they need to be closed. The simplest savings structure is a “circle” of four tons. Of course, you can build other systems, the main thing is that it is closed.

With v. 3.7.1 there have been changes in the mechanics of the t., from now on they work like the t. from Thermal Expansion. Yes, Minecraft has pipes in this add-on. There are nine options there.

→ BuildCraft4 Part 3. Transporting items

Part 3. Transporting items

Today you will build a system for transporting and sorting items “without leaving the cash register” - right next to the base with the quarry. Why is this necessary? Of course, everything won’t fit into one chest, and sorting through the mined goods and pulling out the most valuable resources is, you see, terribly long and boring when a quarry is digging a dozen chunks at once. Transport pipes have already been mentioned in others' recipes: they were the basic component for creating electrical or liquid pipes.

WoodenTransportPipe(wooden transport pipe) - used to remove items from containers. It works directly from the energy of mechanical engines and higher, as well as from pulsar gates. Connects to any transport pipe, except wooden ones. Several containers can be connected to this pipe at once, the direction of flow of objects will be set wrench.

Recipe:

2 boards, glass

EmeraldTransportPipe(emerald transport pipe) - retrieves items from containers and chests. Unlike a regular wooden pipe, it has a filter: either the specified items will be removed (Non Blocking), or the specified items will not be removed (Blocking). If there are no items in the list, nothing will be retrieved. It requires energy to operate, just like a wooden transport pipe.

Interface:

Recipe:

2 emeralds, glass

CobblestoneTransportPipe(cobblestone transport pipe) - a base pipe used to move objects. It has a “rough” surface, which is why the speed of objects is very low and drops quickly on each subsequent block. Does not connect to stone and quartz transport pipes.

Recipe:

2 cobblestones, glass

StoneTransportPipe(stone transport pipe) - used to move objects. Unlike a cobblestone pipe, it has less friction and greater speed of movement of objects. Does not connect to cobblestone or quartz pipes.

Recipe:

2 stones, glass

IronTransportPipe(iron transport pipe) - changes the direction of movement of objects through pipes. Adjustable with a wrench or redstone signal. Connects to any transport pipes.

Recipe:

2 iron ingots, glass

GoldenTransportPipe(golden transport pipe) - serves to speed up the flow of objects through pipes. An interesting fact is that the golden pipes located at the bend of the wire accelerate objects at a higher speed than on a straight section. Gates may not have time to react to objects moving too quickly, so it is recommended to place no more than one golden pipe in the area in front of the gate. We'll talk about the gates themselves later =)

Recipe:

2 gold bars, glass

SandstoneTransportPipe(sandstone transport pipe) - connects only to other pipes, does not connect to containers and cars. It is used for situations where it is necessary to run a pipeline near the mechanism, but not connect it to it.

Recipe:

Glass, 2 sandstones (or smooth sandstone or carved sandstone)

QuartzTransportPipe(quartz transport pipe) - moves objects at a speed twice as fast as a stone pipe. Does not connect to stone and cobblestone pipe.

Recipe:

Glass, 2 quartz blocks (or carved quartz block, or quartz pylon)

ObsidianTransportPipe(obsidian transport pipe) - a kind of “vacuum cleaner”, used to suck up objects in the form of drops. Without supplying energy, it picks up objects thrown directly at it; with energy, the radius of action increases by 1 block. Practical use pipes can be found on various farms to automatically collect loot.

Recipe:

2 obsidians, glass

VoidTransportPipe(empty transport pipe) - everything that falls into this pipe will disappear from your world forever. When there is nowhere else to put the cobblestone, you have to send it into this pipe =)

Recipe:

Ink bag, glass, red dust

DiamondTransportPipe(diamond transport pipe) - used for sorting items. Directs objects further along the pipes in accordance with the selected direction color. There are six colors in total (6 directions): black - bottom, white - top, red - north, blue - south, green - west, yellow - east. You can specify up to 9 items for each direction. The menu can be opened by right-clicking on the pipe.

Interface:

If the same object is indicated in several directions at once, then it will pass along them in given proportions. All unspecified items in the filter will pass through either side randomly. In the example above, all items can pass through the white and yellow exits except dirt blocks, cobblestones, eggs and empty buckets.

Recipe:

2 diamonds, glass

LazuliTransportPipe(lapis lazuli transport pipe) - all objects passing through this pipe will be painted in specific color for further sorting with a diamondurite transport pipe. You can select a color by right-clicking on the pipe with a wrench in your hand. There are 16 colors in total.

Recipe:

2 lapis lazuli blocks, glass

DaizuliTransportPipe(diamond transport pipe) - works in conjunction with a lapis lazuli pipe. Similar to Iron Transport Pipe, but only affects items painted with Lapis Lazuli Pipe. Directions are set with the right mouse button with a wrench in hand. The choice of color is set by the combination Shift + RMB with a wrench in your hand.

Recipe:

Lapis lazuli block, glass, diamond

EmzuliTransportPipe(isurite pipe) - an improved version of the lapis lazuli pipe, a gate pipe, if you want =) the choice of color is set by sending a certain color signal with buildcraft wires. For each signal you can select a specific color. Having received, for example, green signal, the pipe will paint objects the blue of your choice. The pipe requires energy to operate.

Interface:

Recipe:

Block of lapis lazuli, glass, emerald

CobblestoneStructurePipe(filled pipe) - a pipe that is used for cases when it is necessary to transfer wires from one type of pipe to another, or to stretch wires along an area where there are no other pipes. It will come in handy very soon when it comes to Buildcraft logic systems.

Recipe:

Gravel, cobblestone transport pipe

Well, the most boring part is over! Time to get down to business =)

So, you have already had your first successful career launch. The mined blocks fly out at breakneck speed, and even if you put a chest in the quarry, it will quickly fill to the top and items will start falling out again. First of all, make a set of gold transport pipes. 8 pieces should be more than enough. Attach one or two to the quarry on any convenient side to give items a good initial acceleration (however, you can do without them altogether). Next, start a channel of stone or quartz pipes; it will be the main sleeve.

Now we install a diamond transport pipe, and make two branches from it to the sides. This will be the first filter that filters out the necessary (or unnecessary) material. Knowing from experience how much cobblestone the quarries produce, I distributed it over the first two branches. They, in turn, will already distribute them among many chests. Everything else will go further.

The green and yellow sides indicate cobblestones, respectively, they will be distributed as in the picture above. By the way, any fork (without a diamond pipe) will divide objects approximately equally. Therefore, you can install a lot of chests, the main thing is not to get confused in counting the forks. In my case, this is a geometric progression with a denominator of 2.

One more thing about transport pipes:

  • If the chest is full, items will begin to fall out of the pipes. You'll have to keep an eye on this at first.
  • Objects in pipes do not collide with each other and do not affect each other in any way.
  • Don't put too many accelerating gold pipes. Items can move without them, and crafting is not cheap.
  • The main advantage of lapis lazuli pipes over diamond ones is the unlimited number of types of sorted items. Theoretically, this will reduce the number of “forks”, but you will first have to think about how and what items to send for “coloring”.
  • There are at least 2 more addons that significantly expand the capabilities of Buildcraft pipes, I advise everyone to pay attention to them: Additional Buildcraft Objects and Additional Pipes. In some cunning schemes it is simply impossible to do without them.

Perhaps this scheme is the most primitive. More interesting and complex will be only with BC logical systems, which will be discussed in next parts manuals. Having mastered the basics of mod mechanics, you will improve and complicate already existing schemes. Go for it! =)
